Loh Kean Yew produced another speedy win at the Kumamoto Masters Japan 2025 on Thursday (13 November), this time at the expense of Japan’s Ogawa Shogo.
The star Singaporean shuttler followed up his 32-minute, first-round victory over Huang Ping-Hsien a day earlier to eliminate Ogawa 21-14, 21-14 in 34 minutes to safely reach the quarter-finals, where he will face India’s Lakshya Sen.
Loh never trailed against Ogawa, the 86th-ranked Japanese who he met for the first time. Ogawa evened the score twice in the first game, at 2- and 10-all, but would not get closer to leading.
Third seed Loh has a losing record of 6-3 for his career versus Sen, seeded seventh at the tournament.
The two last met at last year’s French Open with Sen winning in three in the quarter-finals.
