Sample Japanese sweets

Naritasan Omotesando is home to multiple shops intent on tempting your sweet tooth. Give in at Nagomi Yoneya, a confectioner founded in 1899 and known for yokan (sweet bean jelly) and seasonal wagashi sweets, which you can devour immediately or take home. Or, if you fancy serene garden surrounds, veer right into an easy-to-miss alley to Miyoshiya  (pictured). Here, menu items include anmitsu (agar jelly cubes with red bean paste, rice-flour dumplings, prune, apricot, and soft rice cake), which comes with pickles, molasses to pour over the concoction, and a cup of roasted tea.
