Tennis champions Naomi Osaka and Taylor Townsend are making waves off the court after appearing together in a new social-media video soundtracked by a trending Nicki Minaj remix.

The Instagram clip, posted over the weekend shows Osaka and Townsend aboard a yacht dancing to a mash-up of Minaj’s 2012 hit “Beez in the Trap” and 4 Non Blondes’ 1993 anthem “What’s Up?” The remix has gone viral on Tiktok, with creators blending Minaj’s trap verses and Linda Perry’s rock vocals to create one of the fall 2025’s most popular sounds, according to Rolling Stone.

Osaka appears in a bejeweled blue swimsuit accented with multicolored beads, while Townsend wears a black cut-out one-piece and is layered in gold jewelry. The video, which Townsend captioned “In the ocean trap with @naomiosaka #offseason,” quickly drew thousands of likes and reposts across sports and pop-culture platforms.

The pair’s collaboration comes as both players enjoy a brief break from professional competition. Osaka, a four-time Grand Slam singles champion, returned to the WTA Tour this year after maternity leave. Townsend, ranked among the top doubles players in the world, concluded one of her strongest seasons to date.

Social-media users praised the video for showcasing camaraderie between two Black women athletes who have often spoken about the pressures of elite sports. Others highlighted how their use of Minaj’s remix tied tennis culture to one of the year’s most recognizable Black-led music trends.

The “Beez in the Trap / What’s Up?” mash-up began circulating online in late 2024 and surged in 2025 after Nicki Minaj reposted fan edits on Instagram Stories, helping the videos reach more than a billion Tiktok views.

Neither Osaka nor Townsend has announced upcoming tournament dates, but both are expected to return to full competition schedules in early 2026. For now, the video continues to gain traction as an example of athletes embracing off-season creativity while engaging directly with social-media culture.
