Barcelona has the best nightlife in the world, a new study has found.
Conducted by entertainment platform JB, the study found that five of the top 10 rated nightlife cities are in Europe, with cheap drinks, later opening times, and higher number of nightlife spots contributing to the ratings.
Barcelona was ranked first, with over 300 bars and pubs per 100km, an average drink price of $4.65 (€4), and average closing times of 6:AM putting it in the number one spot.
Elsewhere in Europe, Paris, Tbilisi, Prague and Budapest were also ranked in the top 10, with drinks as low as $2.99 (€2.50) on average and highly rated clubs and bars contributing to those stats.

Tokyo was placed third in the rank and dubbed safer than many other cities to party in, while Seoul, Yerevan, Bangkok, and Bali also made the top 10.
“About 60% of travellers now pick their destination based on nightlife, which shows how much people care about what happens after dark,” says a spokesperson for JB.
“But safety matters more than anything else when you’re out drinking in a new city, especially for women traveling alone or with friends. A city can have $2 drinks, but if you’re worried about getting back to your hotel at midnight, those cheap cocktails aren’t worth it.”

The study also discovered that four in every 10 tourists go out to drink when travelling, and found that spending on nightlife accounts for around 15% of all holiday budgeting.
According to a new study published last month by Aqua surveying 2,000 people in the UK, adults spend on average £3,776 annually on going to nightclubs, bars and pubs.
Despite high numbers, just 9% of participants said they had spent money going to a club in the last year, while over a third said they had spent at bars and pubs.
