Top Kyoto Experiences: Make Ramen, Dress as an Oiran & Train Like a Ninja!
Stop scrolling. You’re about to discover a travel agent’s secret to the best family trip in Kyoto. I’ve personally secured access to the three must try experiences in Guon that your family will never forget. Mastering ramen secrets, a breathtaking photo shoot, and real ninja training for the whole family. These are the special memories you can only make with your family in Kyoto. Let’s get started. Muso Shin Ramen Academy. Our first must try adventure. A hidden ramen art studio right here in Guon. Forget just eating ramen. You’re about to master the secrets. The biggest appeal of this academy is that the ramen making is paired with an art experience. First, you get to choose between an original ramen bowl, a ladle, or an apron, and the whole family can freely paint on it. You can create a one-of-a-kind original ramen item packed with your family’s memories. After the art experience, it’s time to make ramen. A professional chef gives you detailed, careful guidance, even explaining why they use certain ingredients and why specific steps are necessary. This will be a valuable opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Japanese food culture. And then you get to taste your creation right away. The ramen you make yourself tastes absolutely amazing. The entire experience runs for about 90 minutes and starts from 8,000 yen per person. One important note, the bowl and spoon you paint can be taken home the same day if you plan to use them just for display. However, if you want to use them for eating, they require firing, so you’ll have to pick them up on a later day. If you’re planning to use them as meal time souvenirs, make sure you check the academyy’s operating hours and holidays beforehand so it fits your travel schedule. The apron though you can take home on the very same day. This experience lets you bring home both a great memory of Japanese food and a tangible souvenir. It’s highly recommended for families and couples. I think it was important to us that we wanted to experience cultural things and and to learn more about Japanese culture and how to take it back with us as well cuz we’d love to know how to make ramen at home. Yeah. How was this experience? It was really fun. It was lovely. I really enjoyed painting the spoons and we can take them back and always remember that we did this. Um, and the ramen was amazing. Yeah, the taste tastes really really good. Okay. Um, and yeah, it was it was it was fun getting getting to make it as well and being walked through it so well by our hosts. Kokoro Hannah Shizuku. Now for the second unique experience, we’re heading to a studio deep in Guon. This is an experience where you can transform into a stunning character like the glamorous Ourin in traditional Japanese dress and get photographed by a professional photographer. In short, it’s an authentic studio where you can capture the beauty of Japan, making you look just like a heroine from a historical drama. This studio is actually a renovated Okaya that’s a traditional tea house that real Mo or Apprentice Geisha used to frequent. So the moment you step inside, you can feel the elegance of a Kyomachia, a traditional Kyoto townhouse, and instantly soak in the special atmosphere from the old days of the Geisha district. The true highlight of this experience is its authenticity. Highly experienced professional makeup artists and hair stylists will transform you into a magnificent new version of yourself. Seeing your wife or daughter look like a gorgeous, glamorous heroine in traditional Japanese clothing will definitely be a lifelong memory for you, the dad. Next, you’ll step into a truly luxurious, dedicated photo booth for the shoot. Using their professional skills, the team will capture breathtakingly beautiful photos that will become a treasured possession for life. The price varies depending on the number of outfits and other options, starting from 17,50 yen. And this isn’t just for women. Men can also join in dressing in traditional attire like a kimono or even a samurai outfit. And there are couple plans available. If you want a special experience where everyone in the family can be the star of the show, you absolutely cannot miss this spot. How about this experience? Oh, I like this uh experience very much and very uh enjoy this because uh workers are very uh professional and tanoshides. I dress like this. I can uh pose like a model. So, it’s very fun to me. You look enjoying. Yes, I recommend this one. They are very professional. Really? Ninja Experience Cafe. Finally, we’re going to introduce a unique spot. Located right here in Kyoto’s Guon District. When you come here, you don’t just enjoy a cafe. The whole family can become ninjas and go through real ninja training. First up, it’s time to get into your ninja gear for a photo shoot. Just look at the kids in their cool outfits. The parents are absolutely loving it. After the photos, the real training begins. First, you’ll get to throw real ninja stars or shuriken. The staff will show you how to do it, and everyone gets a turn to aim at the target. Next, you’ll try using a blow gun. You blow into the tube to launch a dart. It looks easy, but it’s actually tougher than it seems. Don’t worry about hygiene, though. They provide individual mouthpieces, so it’s completely safe and clean. After that, you’ll learn how to handle a katana, a Japanese sword. You’ll practice different moves like swinging it up from below and thrusting forward, and then put all the moves together. And just when you think you’re done, there’s a final surprise. A ninja hide-and-seek game. A secret door in the back leads to a hidden passage that connects to a hanging scroll on the wall. Kids who love surprises will be absolutely thrilled. You’re sure to see some amazing smiles. A 1-hour experience, which includes the training, a ninja outfit rental, and a drink starts from 4,900 yen. How about this experience? It’s uh I think it’s nice for kids to try. Makes a bit difference from visiting the temples and uh going around especially in the heat. So it’s it’s it’s it’s something different. It is interesting, especially when you The experiences we covered today offer something you just can’t get from regular sightseeing. They give your family a truly special time together.
