Dozens of earthquakes struck near Japan Monday following a cluster of seismic activity that rocked the area over the weekend.

A 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Japan’s Iwate Prefecture at 5:03 p.m. local time on Sunday, prompting a tsunami warning.

Since then, at least 36 additional quakes have hit in the area, according to data from the USGS.

These quakes haven’t resulted in any injuries, damage or tsunami warnings.

Japan sits atop the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” where the Pacific Plate interacts with several others, such as the Philippine Sea Plate and the Eurasian Plate.

This is a breaking news story. Updates to come.
