On the 10th, Nippon-Ham announced that they had reached an agreement with outfielder Franmil Reyes and catcher Ariel Martínez, who had signed multi-year contracts, to extra inning their contracts for next season.
Reyes played in 132 games this season, batting .277 with 32 Home Run and 90 RBI, winning the double crown for Home Run and RBI. Expectations are high for him to continue as the team’s main batter next season, and he commented, “I’m very happy. I’m filled with gratitude from the bottom of my heart to the team for believing in me and having such high expectations of me. I’ll train hard this offseason and make sure I’m in top condition so I can perform at my best for the team and our fans. The support of our fans every day is a great source of strength. Thank you so much, and I look forward to your continued support.”
Martinez was also affected by an injury near his right elbow, and this season was a disappointing one, with a batting average of .174, one Home Run, and eight RBI in 34 games played. “I’m truly grateful for the support and trust from all The Fighters fans and everyone associated with the team. I’m proud to be a part of this team in the 2026 season. I will continue to do my best for The Fighters, with passion and responsibility in my heart. I will work hard every day so that the team can achieve its goal of becoming number one in Japan and make all the fans proud of The Fighters. Let’s all make this the best year ever,” he vowed to bounce back.
