空から見る明石海峡大橋！360°で体感する命の流れと時を超える橋【ドローン空撮】

Today, we introduce the Akashi Kaikyō Bridge, one of the largest suspension bridges in the world. A massive white arch connecting the blue sea and sky. Let’s take a close look at its scale and beauty from the sky. After finishing aerial shots in Fukuoka, we headed to the airport. Fukuoka Airport, just near the city center, offers excellent access.
Today, I boarded my favorite propeller plane. As we took off, the engine vibrations made my heart race. In no time, we arrived in Miyazaki. Here, we transferred to a flight to Osaka’s Itami Airport. We arrived in Kobe. This is where the story begins. The Akashi Kaikyō Bridge – a magnificent suspension bridge connecting Awaji Island and Honshu. Opened in 1998, it spans a total length of 3,911 meters. The central span is about 2,000 meters, making it one of the world’s largest. The main towers are approximately 300 meters tall, comparable to Tokyo Tower. The cars driving across look like streams of life flowing. Huge cargo ships passing beneath the bridge highlight the importance of the strait. The drone ascends, offering an aerial view of the entire bridge. Here, human ingenuity meets the harmony of nature.
We turn the camera to capture the streets of Maiko. Maiko Beach along the coast—a popular spot for BBQs. Nearby is the Goshikizuka Kofun, a massive burial mound from the early Kofun period. The scale of ancient and modern times intersects across history. Next, let’s switch to ground footage. An octagonal Western-style building by the sea, the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall (Ijokaku). Built by Kobe trader Go Kindo during the Taisho era as a villa. Later visited by Chinese revolutionary Sun Yat-sen, now a museum. It is registered as an Important Tangible Cultural Property by the nation. The statue of Sun Yat-sen—his calm expression is striking. We walk directly under the Akashi Kaikyō Bridge from east to west. A special space where the sound of waves and steel structures blend. The bridge connects Maiko in Tarumi, Kobe, to Matsuhō, Awaji City. The central span is 1,991 meters, with towers approximately 300 meters high. Cutting-edge technology was concentrated in this strait with fast currents and deep waters. It has a sister bridge relationship with Denmark’s Great Belt Bridge. This is the “Cable Bench.” It reproduces a full-size cable 1.1 meters in diameter. 127 strands of 5.23 mm wires are bundled into one, with 290 such bundles. You can sit on the bench and experience the engineering firsthand. The Bridge Science Museum lets you learn construction techniques in an enjoyable way. It features a 40m wind tunnel model, 3D video, and interactive exhibits. VR allows you to experience 360° views and inspection work on the bridge. A science museum where you can feel the world’s greatest bridge up close. Now, let’s return to our journey in the sky. The drone rises again, wrapping the entire bridge in view. Since its completion in 1998, it held the title of the world’s longest suspension bridge for 24 years. In 2022, Turkey’s Çanakkale 1915 Bridge broke that record.
