‘Performing in Japan was an incredible experience,’ said Dr. Edward Turgeon after he and his partner Anne Louise performed to packed halls as part of their global tour representing Algoma University
Algoma University’s Musicians-in-Residence ensemble, the piano duo “Duo Turgeon,” was on the road internationally showcasing the university’s music program.
Among the performances was their their Japanese debut in Tokyo and Osaka.
Invited by Steinway Japan, Edward and Anne Louise Turgeon performed to sold-out audiences.
“Performing in Japan was an incredible experience, both humbling and exhilarating,” said Dr. Edward Turgeon, Professor, Music Department Chair and Co-Musician in Residence at Algoma University. “We were deeply honoured by the invitation from Steinway Japan and the overwhelming response from audiences in both cities.”
Following their performances in Japan, the Duo Turgeon continued their international tour with a featured performance at the Chicago Duo Piano Festival, where they also led a masterclass for young pianists enrolled in the Music Institute of Chicago’s Duo Piano program.
“Duo Turgeon’s international success is a reflection of the exceptional talent and dedication within our Music program,” said Dr. Brett Goodwin, Interim Vice-President Academic and Research.
“Their artistry not only enriches our campus community but also strengthens Algoma University’s reputation as a centre for creativity, performance, and global collaboration.”
