Day Trip from Tokyo / Yokohama, Minato Mirai / Timber Wharf & VR | 2025 Vlog

Hi guys!! I’m Hiro!! Thank you for coming my video! Today, a friend invited me out, so I’m heading to Yokohama for a bit. It’s a lunch plan, so I’m gonna get there a little early and take a quick walk by myself. Made it. We’re meeting up at Yokohama Station, but I came to Minato Mirai Station first. Right in front of Minato Mirai Station is the Yokohama Museum of Art. I was planning to go, but I didn’t check properly, and it turns out it was closed today. OTZ There’s a plaza right in front of the museum that’s been set up as a chill spot to relax. I couldn’t go to the museum, but there’s a place nearby that looks interesting, so let’s go check it out. This is an exhibition center all about science and technology,
right next to the Yokohama Museum of Art. This was set up by “Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd” back in 1994, and you can check out all kinds of exhibits on manufacturing and engineering. In the first area, you can get a full look at the story of manufacturing—from its origins to the future—that Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is involved in. I can check out models and select stuff with buttons myself, so it’s fun to view. The next area is the – Sea Zone -. This area has a full-scale replica of the manned submersible called SHINKAI 6500, which can explore depths up to 6,500m. There’s an attraction where you can put your own original creatures—like fish and jellyfish that you designed—up on a screen. The next area is the – Sky & Space Zone -. In this area, they have actual rocket fuel tanks and real engines on display. There are dynamic visuals on a huge screen showing the height to space and explaining the future of space development technology. There’s also a spot where you can try solving problems that came up in the astronaut selection exam! Heading up to the exhibit space on the second floor. The last area I’m checking out is the – Land Zone -. Here, I can refresh my knowledge about **energy** itself and learn about the *history of energy*. Here, you can see and learn about the latest technologies aimed at achieving a sustainable future. This area also has models that operate with buttons, as well as places where you can learn by getting hands-on and physically interacting with the exhibits. The admission fee is really reasonable, and it’s a super hidden gem of a spot that adults and kids can both enjoy and learn from. Lots of elementary school students came in for a field trip right as I was leaving! It’s almost time to meet up, so I’m gonna ride this rental bike over to Yokohama Station. We’re heading to a place a little ways from the station, so a rental bike totally comes in handy right now. Here it is! Today’s lunch is at this Italian place with super cool antique decor, it has such a mature vibe. First up is the soup and salad from the set menu I ordered. Out of the mains, I picked the lasagna. The meat sauce is seriously tasty, and the cheese is perfectly browned and so good. Gochisousamadeshita! My friend told me about this VR attraction where you can experience the Egyptian pyramids, so I’m gonna check it out! This is my first time doing a VR attraction, so I’m actually pretty stoked about it. They totally give you a proper explanation at the start, so it’s all good. Alright, I’m off on my trip to Egypt! I’m back! That was way more amazing than I thought it would be! It was like 5,000 yen, which feels a little pricey, but the experience was seriously amazing, so I totally recommend it. After the journey, they’ve got a section with merch for the characters and stuff that popped up in the attraction, so you gotta check it out. I still have one more place I wanna hit up, so I’m saying bye to my friend and heading over there now. The sun is slowly setting, and the way the evening light hits those high-rises along the bay is just beautiful right now. The last place I’m hitting up is this building with a super unique design, and it pops up about 25 minutes on foot from Yokohama Station. It’s got “I’m donuts?”, which is this crazy popular donut shop in Tokyo, and their bread line called “dacō” as tenants. It’s already sunset, and there’s still a huge line, but what the heck, I’m gonna wait for it. Man, this line is moving way slower than I thought it would. This spot just opened, so the operation is probably still not super efficient. Finally, it’s my turn! They said they’re running low on donuts today, so I came over to the “dacō” side instead. They still have a decent amount of stuff left over here. They’ve got a decent variety of drinks too. They have a dining area inside, but it looks like most people are getting takeout, so it’s pretty empty. I’m just sitting down, waiting for my coffee. Both of the pastries I got are tasty and go great with the coffee. It’s just a little bummer that both of them were cold, though. I really wanted to check out “I’m donuts?” too, but I guess I’ll hit it up next time. Now that I’ve finally got the pastry I wanted, I think it’s time to head home. It looks like there aren’t any shops on the second and third floors yet,
so I’m stoked to see what opens up later. It’s been a minute since I was in Yokohama, but I got to check out some unique attractions and hidden gems, so it was pretty fun. Thanks for watching up to this point! See you in the next video!
