Japan’s DISTURBING Festival of Demons – Kyoto Yokai Matsuri

Yo-kai demon. Yo-kai demons things. Scary things. I I wanted to make it I wanted to make the intro scary, but I can’t do it. I can’t make the intro scary. Demons, Yo-kai, scary things. Today, that’s what we’re going to be experiencing. We are at Yokai Matsuri, which if you don’t know what that means. Welcome to Tolli Studio Park, where all the demons live. This park is where they shoot lots of Japanese movies. Basically, the Hollywood of Kyoto. Now, I wanted to give you more of an intro before showing anything off, but the final ninja show of the day was starting and we couldn’t miss it. [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] Fire [Applause] down. [Music] So, we just saw the ninja show and that was that was super cool, actually. Yeah. You see this train? It’s so famous. I need you to get inside the train. No. Do something cool. Are you ready, kids? I captain. Okay. Get me now. Yeah. So, I don’t know where that kid came from, but I’m glad he didn’t hurt himself. Come onto my fancy train. Come. Welcome onto my train. This is where we go places. Come sit with me. I’m going to sit next to me. Come Instagram picture. So, this entire theme park is a place where they actually film real movies. like they shoot the actual movies here. And as you can see, Chica, can you see all the beautiful movie sets behind you? Oh my gosh, it looks like you’re in a real movie. You want to go inside that one? Okay, totally. Come. I walk in. Oh, nothing. This is why you were so excited to come in? You’re like, I want in the building. I saw the drama. Yeah. [Applause] Oh, you see a building. Do you feel like you’re in the Edo era? If you didn’t know, the Edeto period was between the years6003 and 1868. It’s largely known as the era of peace and stability in Japan. Oh my god. What is that? What is happening? Chica the dragon. I think this place is super cool. Like I could see us coming here early one day and shooting a movie. There’s a giant Gundam over there. What is it? What is What is that? Ah. Oh my god. They have it. Let’s go. They have real gold. No, I need it. Where do we go? Let’s go. You can’t find anywhere. Haunted mansion. Okay, we should check that out. That looks super cool. This is a 1 hour wait. 1 hour wait. I’ve seen this from the train before. That train back there. I’ve been on that train and I’ve seen this off in the distance and I always wondered what is that thing. How do we get in line? I want to take a picture. Okay, the wait for that was too long. So, we’re just going to walk around and see what the park has to offer before we decide on anything. You should do next to him. Oh, back here. Look, you can see the green screen back there. Oh my gosh. We should shoot a movie right now. There’s demons walking towards us. Should we shoot like a little mini movie here? We fight each other. Yeah. Okay. Do that. Huh? No. Seriously, do that. [Music] Right now, we’re just kind of exploring the park and just waiting for the main attraction later tonight, which is the Yo-kai parade. What? Oh my gosh. He’s coming. He’s coming. You can fight. [Music] You have a sword. [Music] Go. I don’t have a weapon. He’s going to beat me. Oh my god. He’s coming to me now. What did you find? Are there bodies? [Music] I did watch a lot of all this kind of movies, dramas on TV. So [Music] I watched like these kind of buildings on only on TV and they’re shooting here. [Music] Like, can you imagine they’re actually shooting here? [Music] We could we could do we could do a fight scene here. Yeah, this is a perfect spot. Wait, what’s over here? Oh my god. Demon Yo-kai. [Music] Oh my gosh, they’re all here. Yeah. [Music] I think he wants you to get in there. [Music] What are those things screaming? It’s actually so beautiful here. Yeah. Okay, I say we walk over this way and see what’s over here cuz I don’t think we walked over here, right? My gosh, there’s so many demons everywhere you look. I wonder how many movies this entire place has been a part of. It’s got to be a lot. Like, it’s such a small place, but I could see what you could do with all this. Like, there’s so much to offer. It’s really just a giant tiny Japanese village rebuilt. Okay, Chica, idea, movie idea. Go there. This is a green screen. Go there and fight battle invisible enemy and I’ll make you fight them in editing. Okay. [Music] What am I doing? You don’t want to see what that’s going to end up looking like. That’s so bad. You do not want to see what that’s going to end up looking like. Where are we going? What is back here? I feel like this is the end of the park. Ah, you see that these are Toyoto studio number 14. They must shoot movies up there. I don’t know if there’s anything for us to see back here. This is like a storage. Storage. Storage. Storage. Look at this wall. They just like broke it. Broke it. A ninja broke it. You think? Ooh, look at it. Oh, yeah. This is a styrofoam. It’s not even real. This whole time they’ve been lying to us. It’s not life. Okay. I don’t know why we’ve spent so much time in the uh the back part of the park where you’re not really supposed to go, but I think it’s time we get back to the Oh my. Who is that? He’s a ninja. Sneaking. I sneaky. He is sneaking. Sneaky. Sneaky. Look at his face. So small. You see that thing? What? The thing? The hook. Ah, yeah. No, if I didn’t tell you it was a movie set, you would think it was real life. You would think it was real Japan. Especially like down this street. Like, if I showed you this and I said, “This is real Japan. This is what the real Japan looks like.” You would be like, “Yeah, absolutely. It’s definitely what it looks like.” Like, you can find a lot of this older architecture all over Japan. Like, it really does exist. Um, except nowadays it’s kind of mixed with more of the modern. That’s a demon. He’s back. I don’t know if we should go this way. All right, run away. Run. Like if we actually meet him at night, I’m going to be screamed. You’re going to be scream. I understand. Go say hi to the Yo-kai. Go say hi. Get your picture. Oh my gosh, it totally is. We’re back at the start. It looks so cool though. Like I love how everything here looks. I like I like the chin how they’re like barely glowing right now. This looks so good. And then this theater that looks crazy cool. It’s that one from earlier. [Music] [Music] Yeah, I don’t know what happened here, but for some reason my microphone didn’t record anything I was saying. But what I was trying to say is, “Hey, let’s go eat here. This sounds good.” Let’s go inside and we can see if they have anything that’s not sold out. Oh, this is so classic. Quick translation of what she’s trying to tell us. They’re sold out of everything except for these items. So, pick one of these items. This looks so good. Is this like fish? Are these fish? Like little fish cakes? Is that what that is? And I got a big piece of deep fried tofu. I love deep fried tofu. It’s one of my favorites. And of course, we have the uda noodles. Oh, you are forgetting something. So, we’re going to go ahead. We’re going to dig in. Let’s try a noodle. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Good. Good. Tastes like a udon. Just standard udon. Oi. Oi. Oi. This tastes like the little fish cakes. But this is my favorite thing. So, let’s go ahead and try it. M. Oh, that has so much flavor. That’s actually so good. A deep fried tofu. M. So good. My turn. Okay. Go ahead. Try it. [Applause] Is this your reaction? Just thumbs up. Okay, so we’re going to go see if we can get on either the Haunted Mansion or the Gundam. And look, right now everything’s getting really dark. Pretty soon it’ll be super dark and that’s when the demons will come out. I’m scared. Gundam was this way, right? [Music] Chica, are you otaku? Well, I have no idea about this thing. Now, we get to do your favorite thing. Chica, we got to wait in line. Don’t make me look like a taku. Okay, we just found a sign. And it looks like there’s a seat inside and you get to sit and control the Gundam. So, we’re like standing on the Gundam, but you can also see the entire little city. Okay, so this is it. There’s a blinding light. [Music] That’s it. That’s it. Your turn, Chica. So, that was the Gundam experience. Basically, you sit down in a chair. It blows a little bit of air on your face and then the the seat of the chair drops like one inch. They built this entire Gundam so that they could put a chair that blows air on your head. I, you know, I’m not one to question Japan very often and the way they do things, but right now I’m starting to question it just just a little bit. Ooh, it’s nice and dark outside. Now we can get a picture on the hand of the Gundam. So, you know, who would I be if I didn’t do that? I think that sounds a lot cooler than the chair experience. Oh, yeah. What is he doing? Oh my god. He’s Oh my god. Your turn. I’m fine. Oh, go. [Music] So, they gave us a free picture of us. Oh my gosh. You can’t see it. There’s the picture of us right there. That’s cool. That’s cute. Yep. Everybody’s gathered around Chica. I think it’s about to begin. And there’s a ninja. Go pose. Be a ninja. I want to be ninja. Is it about to begin? This is the part of the story where things start to get very hectic. You see, we didn’t know where the Yo-kai parade was going to begin. We just saw everybody gather around this little area right here. So, we also gathered around here and sat down. Now, we traveled a really far distance today just to get some good shots of these Yo-kai. It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for a really long time. And now that I’m finally here sitting on the ground, I’m realizing I don’t think this is where we’re supposed to be right now. So, we did the only logical thing. We got up and left. And that’s when we found this. [Music] [Applause] [Music] But I’m noticing a problem. There’s an issue. My camera is not focusing. And I did not travel here today to get a bunch of videos of a bunch of blurry Yo-kai. So, I quickly ripped off my lens, handed it to Chica, and put on a different one. [Music] So, we kind of had a bad spot to stand. Like, I didn’t get that many good shots of Yo-kai. Plus, I missed most of them switching my lens over. But next up was the dance, and I knew I had to act quickly. So, I ran as fast as I could to get over here just to show you guys the stance. [Music] [Music] As I was standing here, I had an epiphany. Everybody in this entire park is here watching this dance. I can leave right now and get the best spot in the entire house to see the Yo-kai leaving. Heat. Heat. [Music] He’s [Applause] [Music] waking. Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. Yeah. Heat. [Music] [Music] I love you. Get away. [Music] [Music] Oh my gosh, there’s so many people here. Chica, how was it? It was cool.
