Pikmin Bloom is hosting a Postcard Walk in partnership with the Hidden Gems of Kyoto Project. It’s a collaboration between Kyoto City, the Kyoto Tourism Association and Pikmin Bloom that aims to highlight the city’s lesser-known but equally fascinating areas.
A new way to explore beyond the usual tourist landmarks
The Hidden Gems of Kyoto Project was started to bring attention to overlooked spots across the city by working with local communities and businesses. Instead of sticking to the familiar crowds at places like Kiyomizu-dera or Arashiyama, players can now explore Kyoto’s quieter, more authentic corners.
So, talking about the actual event, the Postcard Walk introduces six designated areas. They are Fushimi, Ohara, Takao, Yamashina, Saikyo, and Keihoku. Running from November 6th, the event end date has been extended and will be announced later.
Each Postcard Walk area is filled with Special Spots. There, you can swipe to receive digital postcards that capture the beauty of each location. Along with the postcard, you also get nectar for Dianthus, Kyoto’s prefectural flower, making it a nice nod to the city’s natural heritage.
Each area in Pikmin Bloom The Hidden Gems of Kyoto Postcard Walk also has its own set of destinations. Keihoku includes Joshokoji Temple, Yamaguni Shrine, Kinkazan Hosenji Temple, Roadside Station Woody Keihoku, and Ohrai Kurodaya.
Ohara features the peaceful Sanzen-in Temple, Jakko-in Temple, and the Kyoto Bus Ohara Information Center. Takao offers stops at Jingo-ji Temple, Hiraoka Hachimangu Shrine, and Shigetsukyo Bridge.
Yamashina includes Ooishi Shrine, Origami Inari Shrine, and Zuiji-in Temple. Saikyo’s list features Jizo-in Temple, Joju-ji Temple, Shobo-ji Temple, Ootoshi Shrine, and Kyoto Bamboo Park. Finally, Fushimi includes Nagao Tenmangu Shrine, Gokonomiya Shrine, Fujinomori Shrine, and Kinsatsugu Shrine.
As you walk through any of these six zones, two main missions become available. You can check them out in the game. So, in case you stay in Kyoto or are visiting the city, then do visit these spots with the game on your phone.
