photo 8 is the view of Mt Nikko-Shirane & Goshikinuma from Mt. mae-Shirane. We had intended to complete the full summit but we ran out of daylight and didn’t want to get stranded atop the mountain. When hiking from Lake Yumoto it is a VERY difficult hike with a near vertical ascent and treacherous descent (poorly maintained / overgrown with dwarf bamboo rendering the path invisible). You can get these views easier if you take the cable car from the other side of the mountain.
Great seeing the nature side of Japan.
Thanks for sharing…….your pics are beautiful.
When were the Nikko pics taken? I’m travelling in 2 weeks time and I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth a visit or if it will be past peak for autumn foliage.
Nice work.
Just watched a documentary about Japan and some of these images were on it as well. Hopefully one day in person I will be able to see it and enjoy.
