A classic piece of mid-90s arcade action has been deployed on the Xbox Store today, as HAMSTER Corporation continues its new, upgraded retro lineup with the launch of Arcade Archives 2 TOKYO WARS on Xbox Series X|S for £14.99.

The War for Tokyo
This isn’t a simple 8-bit sprite-based game; this is classic 1996 3D arcade action. In TOKYO WARS, you join either the Green force or the White force tank unit and are plunged into a pitched battle in the middle of realistic city streets. The objective is simple and timeless: destroy or be destroyed.
This release is part of the premium Arcade Archives 2 series, which not only faithfully reproduces these classic games but also adds a host of modern, console-specific features.
On top of the standard ORIGINAL MODE, this new version is packed with extras. You’ll get the classic HI SCORE MODE and CARAVAN MODE, but this new series also adds a brand-new TIME ATTACK MODE, where you compete to clear the game as quickly as possible, regardless of your score.
This version also includes full VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) support, allowing the gameplay to be reproduced even closer to the original arcade experience. All of this is in addition to the standard convenient features you’d expect, like rewind, rapid-fire, multiple save slots, and online rankings.
The Premium Arcade Experience
This release continues HAMSTER’s new “Arcade Archives 2” line on the Xbox platform, a series that has so far unearthed a diverse range of classics from different eras.
It follows the 1987 castle-defender Arcade Archives 2 BATTLANTIS and NAMCO’s first-ever in-house arcade game, the 1978 brick-breaker Arcade Archives 2 GEE BEE.
