The Hankyu Italian Fair 2025, a historic exhibition dedicated to Italian cuisine now in its 39th edition, was inaugurated today at the Hankyu Umeda department store in Osaka. The event, which runs until Nov. 10, is part of the program of Italian Cuisine Week in the World, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to enhance the country’s gastronomic culture. The event, which has been an eagerly awaited appointment for years by the Japanese public, offers exhibitions and tastings of Made in Italy food and wine products, confirming itself as a reference point for lovers of good food in a city that makes gastronomy one of its excellences. This year there are 32 exhibitors present, committed to presenting a wide range of Italian specialties, under the slogan chosen for the 2025 edition: “Life is beautiful and good” and “Where you eat well you live better.” In addition to providing an opportunity for cultural encounters, the exhibition is also an important promotional channel for Italian agrifood exports to Japan, a growing sector with an estimated value of about 2 billion euros a year. The opening was addressed by the Consul General of Italy in Osaka, Filippo Manara, the CEO of Hankyu Hanshin Department Stores and H2O Retailing Corporation, Araki Naoya, the President and Director of Hankyu Hanshin, Yamaguchi Toshihiko, and the Executive Director, Sato Yukichika. In his speech, Consul Manara emphasized the deep bond that unites Italy and Japan through culinary culture, highlighting how initiatives of this kind help strengthen it. And it is precisely in this context, Manara recalled, that the candidacy launched in March 2023 of Italian cuisine as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity falls.
