Orix ・Coach Mamoru Kishida took the mound at the “Legend First Pitch Ceremony” before the third game of the baseball Japan Championship on the 4th, Shikoku Bank-Toyota Motor Corporation (Kyocera Dome Osaka). In 2019, he showed off his pitch form at his home mound, which was his first time in six years since his retirement from active duty. He himself participated in the same championship in 2005 when he was with NTT West Japan, and contributed to the team’s runner-up finish. “Being a working adult is definitely unique. I learned a lot from seeing how a team with a limited number of players truly loves baseball” he recalled. He also sent a message of encouragement to his former team, NTT West Japan, who advanced to the second round on October 30th, saying, “I have high expectations for them. I hope they do their best.”
