Hyatt is getting busy in Japan where it plans to more than double its brand footprint in over the next decade, growing its portfolio in both major cities and lesser-known locations.
Most recently, Hyatt announced plans for the 235 guest room Andaz Hiroshima, expected to open in 2027.
Andaz Hiroshima will occupy the 21st to 31st floors of a new mixed-use high-rise, the centrepiece of a major public-private urban redevelopment project in central Hiroshima.
The hotel will reflect the story of the site, which once connected Hiroshima Castle.
Onsite amenities will include a rooftop bar and restaurant, a fitness centre with an indoor pool, and banquet and event spaces.
Hiroshima, the City of Peace, is home to the Atomic Bomb Dome and Peace Memorial Park, both listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Hyatt is also expanding its hot spring ryokan Atona brand to locations in Kuju, Oita and Yoichi, Hokkaido, on top of previously announced destinations in Yufu, Hakone and Yakushima.
Hyatt’s first brand to originate in Japan, Atona has been created with Kiraku Inc. Openings are anticipated from 2028 onward.
