Charting the designer’s journey from the back streets of Harajuku, Tokyo, to his current position on the global stage, this exhibition is also the first retrospective outside of Japan. NIGO has been instrumental in shaping influential designs and trends in recent streetwear and fashion history. His impact is immense, from founding the foundational brand A Bathing Ape in the ’90s to his current role as the artistic director of KENZO.
Visitors will gain a unique glimpse into NIGO’s world, which includes his personal collection of vintage clothing and Americana ephemera, highlighting his distinct practice of sampling diverse cultural references.
