This Is Japan Nobody Talks About | No Tourists. Just Peace

Now [Applause] [Music] I often come here to think a man needs space to think big thoughts. Unfortunately, most of the space seems to be in my head. I tell myself, this is where the great ideas are born. Maybe one day I’ll catch a big thought like Einstein. Or at least a medium-sized one. Maybe Mark Zuckerberg would hear of me headhunt me. [Applause] He’d say, “Ray, free at 3:00. We need a chairman for one of our brainstorming sessions. Well, I’d say sounds like a big responsibility. Don’t worry, it’s easy. You just need to arrange the chairs in a circle so everyone can see each other. Oh, I thought you thought what? Be careful, Ray. Thinking can be dangerous. You might hurt yourself. Watch your step. There’s something therapeutic about the sound of water. It washes away all the unnecessary thoughts which in my case is almost all of them. Discover the quiet beauty of Nigawa, a peaceful neighborhood in Japan that tourists rarely visit — yet it’s full of charm, open skies, and calm riverside scenery.
In this video, I walk along the Nigawa River, past the stone overflow fields and apartment-lined banks, under a brilliant blue sky. It’s the kind of place where you can breathe, think, and laugh at life’s little ironies.
Japan is famous for its temples, neon lights, and crowded tourist spots — but there’s another side of Japan most travelers never see. This video captures that hidden, everyday Japan: where locals walk, the water flows softly, and thoughts wander freely.
If you’re planning a trip to Japan and want to see the authentic, peaceful, and less crowded places, this video is for you.

Thanks for watching! 🌿
Nigawa isn’t on any tourist map, but that’s what makes it special — open skies, quiet water, and plenty of space to think (or pretend to).
I’d love to know — have you ever found a quiet or overlooked spot in Japan that felt beautiful in its own way? 💭
