JW Marriott Tokyo has opened in the heart of Takanawa Gateway City, Tokyo’s newest urban destination.

Conveniently, the 200-room property is within walking distance to Shinagawa Station, which is planned to serve as the terminus for the Chuo Shinkansen connecting Tokyo with other major cities in Japan including Nagoya (40 minutes) and Osaka (65 minutes).

The hotel – reception is on the 30th floor – will offer the brand’s signature Mindful Rooms and Suites – the first in Asia – offering “an elevated sanctuary for travellers seeking rest, reflection, and renewal”, Marriott says.

Dining options include washoku cuisine at Kakō, where diners can sample sashimi, wagyu and local vegetables paired with sake from all 46 prefectures in Japan.

Saki is an eight-seat kappo restaurant, while modern Mediterranean restaurant Sefino represents a partnership with Chef Agustin Balbi from the one-Michelin Star Andō.

For events JW Marriott Hotel Tokyo offers flexible spaces that include a ballroom with 270° movable LED walls, the largest in Japan.

Situated on the 28th floor, the hotel’s pool area features a quarry-inspired stone backdrop and floor-to-ceiling windows framing panoramic views of the city, including Tokyo Tower.
