Nippon-Ham infielder Kotaro Kiyomiya (26) reported to camp on the 31st as a four-sword style. The main players’ fall camp started at Esconde. They practiced batting using four different bats, restarting their preparations for next season.

Even though it had been a while since his last batting practice, he produced a satisfying sound. He brought a bat from Driveline, a US training facility, which is characterized by being made of metal, heavy, long and thin. He had previously used it during the offseason and explained his intention by saying, “It’s just for fun. I want to swing different bats and get a variety of sensations into my body. I don’t think I can swing it just with my fingers.”

His focus is now on next season. In the CS, he fell just one win short of Softbank and he spoke passionately, saying, “I think that one win difference is quite big. I think it all comes down to how everyone spends this off-season, so these next three months are incredibly important. It’s not a break at all.”

In order to refine his movements, he has already begun toning his body. He has resumed his morning walks and is aiming to reduce his body fat percentage from 15% to 13%. Manager Shinjo, who once ordered him to go on a diet, will not be taking part in the autumn training camp, but the team is “currently undergoing a final update.” Just like his manager, he is working to update his mind and body, and is building up his overwhelming power.
