Stressful Arrival In Tokyo, Japan 🇯🇵

Today I’m flying to Tokyo, Japan, the largest
city in the world with over 37 million people. It is going to be my first time in Japan. And my goal
for today is to arrive in Tokyo, figure out how to get into the city, collect first impressions, try
Japanese food, and finally make it to my hotel, which is a special one run by robots. But Tokyo
is big and overwhelming, and I heard it can be very confusing and stressful to arrive there.
Nothing is pre-planned today, and I have no idea how this day will turn out. Oh wow, this is a
bit overwhelming. I’m a bit lost here. So, what is it like to arrive in Tokyo for the first time? And
will I make it stressfree to my hotel? Join me and let’s find out. Okay, and we are starting this
journey in Guam, a small island in the Pacific Ocean that officially belongs to the USA. And
I’m also flying with an American airline today,   United Airlines. So, let’s see how the flight
experience from here to Tokyo will be. All right. So, they have a facial scanner here. So,
you don’t even need to scan your boarding pass or   show your passport. I think this technology will
be very normal in a few years around the world, I guess. And touching the plane for good luck as
usual. Okay, I’m once again surprised because all   the the window shields are down. I don’t know
why they do that on American Airlines. I flew with United Airlines before and it was the same.
Okay, looks like this is some headphones and the   blanket cuz usually that’s also my experience.
United Airlines, they really blast the AC. So, having a little blanket is really good. And yeah,
this is actually a trip I have been excited about   for a very long time as I always wanted to see
Japan. and I’m very curious about it. So, I feel very excited already. And also, Japan is probably
the most requested country in the comment section from you. So, I’m very happy that I’m finally
able to make this trip happen with you. And yeah,   flying time today should be about 3 and 1/2
to 4 hours. Let’s make it to Tokyo, Japan. Thank you very much. And we have arrived in Tokyo,
Japan. Let’s see what the arrival process will be like here. Okay, we have connection and entering
Japan. So yeah, the first goal is now to make it through immigration. Hopefully everything will
be smooth and easy because I did hear that the   immigration process sometimes can take a while
here with long cues because as you can imagine, this being the world’s largest city, the airport
here is also quite huge. Yeah, this by the way   is the Narita airport. In total, there are two
airports in Tokyo. Haneda, I think is the name of the other one and this one. Unfortunately
though, this airport is the one that is quite   far away from the city actually. So, we have to
figure out how to get from here to the city. As I said earlier, nothing is pre-planned. That’s
how I like to travel. And yeah, first impression   here. It looks everything in right. Almost like
a hospital. So, it makes very clean impression, you know. Oh, look at this. There’s a live camera
here. Current statues. And I don’t see any cues on the live camera. The live camera was showing the
immigration area. That’s pretty smart. I’ve never   seen such a thing anywhere else in the world.
So, you know already at least what to expect over there. Oh, there’s a lady here welcoming
everyone with a bow. She’s boowing welcoming the the people into Japan. I think that’s also
very cool. And we do have a Super Mario here also holding a sign. Welcome to Japan. Here we
have another one. Yeah, Super Mario Pokémon. These are of course coming from Japan. Nintendo is
from here. The famous uh Pokémons are from here, which I will remember collecting when I was a
child. When was it? Like around the year 2000 or maybe even a bit earlier. And yeah, once again,
welcome to Japan. And where’s the German one? Here we have it. The common in German as well. Okay,
immigration area here. I can’t film here. See   you on the other side. Okay. And literally like
2 3 minutes later and I’m in the country. Wow, that was I think one of the fastest immigration
processes I ever had in the country. Literally   zero waiting cues and also a lot of counters
open. And yeah, they do check your fingerprints. They take a picture of you and you also need an
arrival card which you can fill out here in paper or what I did you can do it online. There’s
a website called visit Japan. You fill out   all the details there and then you get a QR code
which they also check here. And yeah, it’s pretty amazing so far. Everyone here is so friendly.
There are so many staff around and everyone   is very polite and welcoming. So, I’m having
really good first impressions here. But yeah, now two problems. First of all, I need to get
cash. I need the local currency and then we need   to figure out how to get from here into the city
center. Like I said already earlier, this airport, the Nadita airport, is quite far away from the
city. But first of all, let me find ATM. Excuse me. I’m looking for ATM. This way. This way.
You can find left side. And the left side. Okay. Thank you very much. Okay. Watch your videos. Can
take a picture. Oh, sure. Where are you from? Uh, Los Angeles. Los Angeles. Arizona. Yeah. Oh, okay.
Okay. Visiting Japan. Yes, for the first time. Oh, same as me. First time in Japan. Thank you.
Okay. So, we have bus ticket here. Also looks   like you can also get a bus into the city, but
I usually prefer to take the the metro or the airport train. I think there’s an airport train
here even, not really a metro. And then yeah,   later once we are in the city center. I need
to figure out how to get from there to my hotel which is in a totally different part of the
city than the train station. I think the main   train station. So I think it’s going to be a
very interesting day starting from now. And I also want to end this day with some delicious
Japanese food and then check into a very special   robot hotel later on. But let’s do everything step
by step. I need a ATM first. So maybe over there. She said somewhere on the left side, right? She
said go to the end and then left. Okay. I don’t   see any ATMs here. First I thought this is an
ATM. But this is just an information. But over there we have ATMs. Okay. Okay. Let’s see if I
can get cash here in Japan. My first time using   an ATM in Japan. Uh we have English here. English.
And then pass book. What is a pass book card here? Please insert your card or pass book. You can
only withdraw cash using your passbook. What is   a pass book? Maybe that’s a passport. Let me try
a different ATM. So many different banks to choose from. Let’s try this one. I like the color green.
Okay, second try. Okay, many different languages, even German. But let me go to English. Withdraw.
And then the question is, how much money do I   need? Let me get maybe let’s start with 100 US.
So that would be 15,000. Let’s do 20,000 yen. 2,000 20,000. Here we go. Transaction fee 220 yen.
Okay, that’s all right. Total amount. Here we go. That’s the sound I like to hear. And here we have
the money. Oh, I only do get two notes. 10,000 yen notes. Oh, actually, they they look pretty cool.
I like the design of them. And if you are from   Japan, please let me know who is this person.
Is this maybe a former president? But yeah, this actually not ideal that I only have two
very large notes now. So, I have 20,000 yen now, which equals to about $132. And in case you’re
wondering, the conversion rate is $1 is $151 yen. So, a bit complicated to uh yeah, calculate
in your head when you see the prices. And that’s   why such a conversion app is always good to have.
Okay, but let’s see how we can get from here into the city. And you can actually take Uber here.
Uber is available in Japan, same as in the US. And I just had a look on Uber. If you want to get an
Uber from here, I think the pickup area is right over there. But from here to the city center of
Tokyo takes about 1 and 1/2 to 2 hours. That’s how far away this airport is from the city. And I
guess when it’s rush hour time, it’s going to be   even longer than that. And the price for an Uber
from here to the city center is $28,000 yen, which is about $200. So, it’s also not the cheapest
option. And I also see airport taxis over there, the the black ones. So yeah, you have taxis and
Uber available here, but I think there’s also a train from here straight into the city center. And
I think that is the faster and the cheaper option. So let’s see if we can figure out how to take
that train. Oh, actually there’s a visitor service   center here. Maybe that gives us some information.
English uh transportation information. So you have a rail, you have a public bus, car rental, taxi,
and you can of course also travel from here to other terminals. Terminal one to Tokyo. Oh yeah,
that’s a problem. Tokyo is huge. So many spots available. So I actually want to go to the central
station. Hello. I want to take the train from here to Tokyo, the main train station. Go down to the
basement. I can find the train station. JR JR. Oh, that uh that goes to Tokyo station. So it’s
down over there. Yeah. Go around. You can see escalator on the other side. Okay. One day and
one more day. So, two tours. Okay. Thank you so   much. Where you from? I’m from Germany. Germany.
Germany. And today is my first time in Japan. Oh, thank you so much. By yourself? I’m by myself.
Yeah. How long is the train to the city? Actually, there are many trains. Many trains. Oh, that
looks like a very confusing metro system. Now we here. If you’re going to Tokyo station Uhhuh.
by JR. The Narita Express. Narita Express. Okay. It’s 1 hour. 1 hour. Okay. If you want to save
money, rapid train. I think the express is the So, this one is 1 and a half hours compared to 1
hour. 1 hour. Yeah. Faster and comfortable.   Okay. And the reserve you see to purchase the
ticket at the this office. So, that down there down and the right side. Perfect. That sounds
easy. Okay. Thank you very much for your help. Okay. Thank you. Okay. So in theory it
sounds actually quite easy. But yeah,   I guess once we are in Tokyo at the main train
station, I think that’s where it will get maybe a bit more complicated. But let’s do it step by
step because then from there I have to figure   out how to get to my hotel which is in a different
part of this town. But let’s do everything step by step and let’s figure out first how to get into
Tokyo. Oh, first impression here of the people. Super helpful, friendly, polite. Like I didn’t
even approach the lady, she approached me. So they also have like a very how do you say that
in English? Like a proactive attitude of helping the arriving tourists here. Okay, here we are.
Ah, there’s a big sign saying train left. What does it mean? There’s a lawson. So, do I have
to go down first and then left or do I have   to go left here? I think I’m going left here. Oh,
yeah. The the sign looks like a train, right? So, here we go. By the way, one word that you should
learn when you arrive here is how to say politely thank you. So you can say aligato which uh in my
understanding is like like a casual thanks but the more polite way to say thank you to someone
is alato bay mazu which uh yeah you heard just how I used it. So I think they they value that
a lot here if if you try to make the effort to to speak in their language even if you just learn
two three words. It’s in my experience always like appreciated by the locals and I think that’s
going to be especially here the case because   the the Japanese culture is a culture that values
respect a lot. Respect and politeness. So I would highly recommend if you come here uh learn two
three words and uh yeah this looks already like a big station here and this is just the airport
station. So she said probably she means this one here. Watch your video. Oh really? Oh where you
from? America. America. Oh, now you’re in the video. Take it easy, bro. Thank you very much for
watching. Going back to America. Are you flying   back now? Yeah. Oh, I just arrived here. Oh, okay.
Yeah, I’ve been here for 2 weeks. How did you like it? I love it. I’m coming back. Coming back. Yeah.
Okay. I’m looking forward to it. Yeah. I think I watched your video going to Shanghai cuz I was
planning to go to Shanghai. I was in Shanghai,   too. Yeah. Yeah. You know, the process and stuff.
Then you went to Thailand. Thailand as well. And just been to the US as well. Okay. Yeah. What’s
your name? My name is Max. Okay. Nice to meet you,   man. Yeah. Hope I see you around. Yeah. Have a
good journey home. Oh, thank you. Okay. All right. Um, so Skyliner, maybe this is the the ticket for
the for the airport train. Let’s have a look. Uh, I want to take the train from here to Tokyo
station directly. Go to Tokyo station and then next door. The J the next one. Not here. Okay.
Thank you. Okay. So, the ticket is not here. Need to go next door. Ah, JR. Hello. I would like
to take the train from here to uh Tokyo station. Mhm. You can buy ticket here. Buy ticket here for
the express train, right? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Oh,   I’m actually confused that they don’t have vending
machines here. Isn’t Japan very famous for vending machines? And then you can’t buy train tickets on
a vending machine. You actually have to speak to   someone here. Okay. And literally a minute later.
And I do have a ticket. The cost for the express train into Tokyo was 3,70 yen. So very way cheaper
than taking the Uber from here to the city. And he explained even that the train ride is going
to take exactly 1 hour. And I think Japanese   trains are very punctual. So I’m pretty sure it
will be exactly 1 hour. And I actually do think that you can also just uh use the vending machines
here. Maybe as a tourist it’s easier to to go to   the counter over there. But there are also vending
machines here. But the problem is the train leaves in a few minutes. So I’m a bit in a rush to find
the right uh train station or the platform. Now I   need the airport terminal one station. Maybe here.
Is this the train station? Yeah. Where you going? Tokyo trip number one. Number one. Okay, thank
you. How does it work? Bring this. Oh, ticket is here. Okay. All right. Narita Express. Okay. I
need to hurry a bit. Don’t want to miss this train because the next one is leaving in 30 minutes
later. Okay. There are numbers here on the floor.   Car number 9 will stop here. Then car number eight
will stop here. And I can see on my ticket that I am in car 8, seat 11A. And look at that. They
even have signs here telling you do not rush onto the train. So yeah, everything seems to be
uh like very orderly here. No rushing, like calm and in order, you know. So I’m curious to see how
it will look like when the train actually arrives. Okay. And the train has arrived. Ah, the gates
open like this. I was just uh curious about it. So let me leave first. Actually, I do think
that we can’t enter the train now. I think uh first people go inside to clean the train
and then we are allowed to enter. Somebody is   entering the train now. And I see I’m not sure
can I enter now or no I can’t. So literally yeah during cleaning you can’t enter the train. I’ve
never seen something like this in another country   before but they actually clean the train first
before new passengers go onto the train. Okay. The name on the train is actually or the destination
is Chinjuku which is a part of Tokyo. Now I’m a bit worried if it’s going to be the right train.
this one. Oh, this is a different airport express   train cuz it doesn’t say Tokyo station on
the train where I want to go. Tokyo station. Okay, thank you very much. Okay, so now we can
enter the train and yeah, it looks uh perfectly clean now. Everything is cleaned and I’m looking
for seat 11 A 11 A window seat right here. Okay, so you do have a space to leave your luggage
up here. The seats are looking like this. Very   comfortable, very clean. So, I think it’s going
to be a very easy journey into the city. And yeah, you even have a lot of leg space here. Even for
someone like me, I’m 1 m 90 tall or 6’2 for my American viewers. Good amount of leg space. You
can leave the small backpacks even here. And then place to uh put your drink. Actually, I I was
I thought that drinking or eating inside the train would maybe not be allowed, but if you can
leave the drink here, maybe drinking is allowed.   And then we have a table. Actually, quite a large
one to be honest. You can hang your jacket here. Okay, good first impression. Ah, and here I can
also see. So, we are here and Tokyo is here and then Chinjuku is the final station. So, one,
two, I think the the third stop is where I need to get out. Then the first stop is just the other
terminal here. Okay. And we left exactly on time. So, that is pretty nice when you’re coming from
a country where the trains are very well known to   be not punctual at all. Unfortunately,
that’s the case in Germany. And yeah, I actually read before that speaking loud on
public transportation in Japan is something that   is seen as not polite. So that’s why I’m having
my microphone now and basically whispering into it. But also the cart here is not pretty full. I’m
pretty much the only one sitting here. And yeah,   to show you the journey on the map, if you have
a look at the map, you can actually see that yes, the airport is quite far away from the city center
of Tokyo. So keep that in mind if you do arrive   at this airport here in Tokyo. And something that
I’ve also never experienced in a different country before. Before we left, like 1 minute before,
there was an announcement saying something like, “Thank you very much for waiting. We will
depart in about 1 minute.” So that is that   is pretty cool that they say thank you to
us passengers for waiting. So once again, a very polite thing to do, I think. And overall,
the announcements on the train are very clear. So no problem to understand them. And something that
they also just did. So after we left the terminal,   we had to make a stop to let another train pass.
And then there was an announcement explaining exactly what is happening. So sorry, we have to
make a stop to let another plane pass. So yeah, I’m having really good first impressions here in
Japan so far. And yeah, there’s also Rifa here   available. And there was an announcement that some
of the cards also have a bathroom. Look at this. You can even unlock your suitcases here also. Very
smart. And yeah, we have arrived. Here we are. Tokyo Central Station, which I assume is the
biggest station of the country. And therefore, because this is the largest city in the world,
probably also one of the biggest train stations   in the whole world. So, let’s see how easy it
is to navigate through the station. And then, yeah, I have to find out how to get from
here to my hotel, which is in a different   part of the city. And I’m very curious to
see my hotel. It’s a robot hotel. Okay, there was an announcement on the train saying
that we arrive at level five. So, that means   that there are probably at least five different
levels. So, I just went one up already. I see a four up there. Maybe that means I’m on level four
now. Is there anyone to ask here or a map to look   at? This is getting a bit confusing now. I also I
think so this was a train ride. So, now I need to switch to metro which is maybe a different part of
the whole station. Okay, we have different colors, different lines up there. You can also take a
famous chinkan train from here. You know what?   Let me find an exit first. I’m actually also
curious to uh go out and get a first glimpse of the city and then afterwards we figure out
everything. Okay. Yeah, it is definitely getting   busy here. Look at that. And this is not even rush
hour time, I think. Okay, exit. I’m looking for a sign that says exit. So, is this an exit or is
this the entrance to maybe the metro line? Oh, wow. This is a bit overwhelming here. I do see a
big eye information. Here we are. All right. Look at this confusing system of different trains.
So many lines here. So we are here. Tokyo. Wow. They have so many different lines here. So many
different colors. And you can basically reach the   whole area, the whole metro area of Tokyo with
the different trains and metros here. But to be honest, this doesn’t help much. I don’t even
know where the area is that my hotel is. I know roughly where on the map. Somewhere here. So maybe
No, this is a different airport here. All right, let’s uh stick to the original plan. Find an exit
first. Where’s the exit? I just want to get out of the station here. Just here. And then go up.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I just coming from the airport. Airport. You have a ticket from airport and Okay.
Thank you. All right. So, this is indeed the exit, not the entrance to a metro station. So, yeah, you
need to keep the ticket and then maybe here. Oh, this is the entrance. No, this is a station
to tap it. This is not a car to tap. Oh,   maybe here. Oh, here we go. Okay, so taxi, bus,
ticket. So many different lines. I’m a bit lost here. Exit. I I haven’t seen a single sign yet
that says exit. Maybe I’m so deep inside the station that the exit is so far that there’s not
even a sign here. Oh my god, look at look at the the different lines up there. Okay, this quite
complicated just to find the exit here actually. I’m looking for the exit. Exit. Uh, get out of
the station. Elevator. Okay. Okay. Okay. Thank you so much. She was pointing to over there. To
be honest, I don’t know yet how um much English is spoken here. Do most people understand English
or is it like for example if you go to China not far from here there it’s basically zero English so
almost nobody understands you which in my opinion is not a problem just something that you should
be aware of but I had the impression that so far   everyone understood me okay it’s definitely less
crowded here but I still don’t see an exit and I also still don’t see any signs for exit I think
you should uh bring some time when you arrive here for the first time come on there must be a sign
exit that Shinkansen exit. So maybe this is the exit to go out to the streets. Actually, I don’t
think so. This doesn’t look like the exit of a train station. What is this? Okay, it’s definitely
way less people here. I don’t think that’s a good sign because I would imagine that the exit of the
train station is also the entrance and therefore   very busy with people constantly going in and out.
So, I don’t think I’m right here. To be honest, this looks like a shopping mall. Now, we have
some shops here. There was a Starbucks as well.   All right. Is this an information here? Yeah,
we have restaurants here, different shops, international cuisine, cafes, food, bar, dining.
Why am I suddenly in a shopping mall? I just want to get out of the metro station. How do I get
out of the station? I just want to go out. What is this? A translator. Translate. I’m trying to
leave the station. Exit up there. Up. Yes. Okay. one level up. Okay, thank you so much. Okay, I
think she had a little translating device in her hand. I saw a similar devices before, for example,
in China where it’s also very common that if somebody doesn’t speak English, for example, hotel
staff or taxi drivers, they will get out. Usually,   it’s an app or a little device and then they they
try to communicate with you using the device or the app. So, I think that maybe was something
similar. All right, so one level up. It clearly   doesn’t look like a train or metro station anymore
here, right? Not. Oh, I do see the daylight. And I do see an exit. Oh, wow. Finally. That was quite
a journey just to get out of the station. And actually, yeah, I just want to get a first glimpse
and then we have to go into the station again to   find out how I get to my hotel. But here we are.
First impressions of Tokyo, Japan. Wow. I have no idea what area of the city this is. Makes uh like
the impression of maybe like a financial district. I don’t know. could be completely wrong. That was
just what was coming to my head right away. And I   want to give you one tip actually and then we
head back into the station to try to find out how to get from here to my hotel. And yeah, as you
see, arriving in a new country somewhere you have   never been to before can be a bit overwhelming,
sometimes a bit stressful or chaotic. And yeah, in order to have the whole arrival process less
stressful, I am always using eims. And yeah, honestly, if you’re planning a trip soon, I
highly recommend to not use physical local   SIM cards anymore. I’m using eims on all my
trips nowadays. An EI is basically a digital SIM card that you can install to your phone even
before you start a journey. So I downloaded and   installed my Japan ESIM already a few days ago
and then I just turned it on literally while I was still sitting in the plane and then I was able
to connect to the mobile data right away. So you   don’t waste time searching for local SIM card,
setting it up and I’m getting all my eims from a company called Olaf Flyer. They offer over 200
destinations, many data plans with unlimited data, which I really like because then I don’t have to
worry about how much data I’ve used already during   the whole trip. Setting up the EIM literally takes
2 minutes. Olafly tells you exactly step by step how to do it. So I am never traveling without an
Eim anymore. And if you want to check out Olafly   as well, you can click the link in the description
or on the pin comment. And if you click that link, you can also get an exclusive 5% discount, which
you can also get by simply applying the code canro at checkout when purchasing an Olafly EIM either
on their app or on their website. Just make sure that your phone actually does support Eims, but
most phones nowadays do. So grab an Olafly Eim and travel stress free. And I also have to say it
is a bit chilly here. When I planned the trip like   a week ago, I looked up the weather and it was
like 30°. It’s definitely not the case now. Let me check. We have 22°. So, I didn’t even bring
a jacket or a sweatshirt with me on this trip, so it is a bit chilly. And yeah, the building
over there, I’m not sure what building that is,   but it looks like a old historic building. Very
cool, actually. We have somebody with a cool motorbike on the traffic light here. Oh, okay.
So, these are literally our first impressions. Welcome to the largest city in the world here on
the channel. I’m happy to have you with me on this   journey. To be honest, I actually think that this
building is the train station. So, I probably just went underground from there and then came out of
that building. So, yeah, let’s head back in and then figure out how the metro system works. Okay,
it says Maru Nucci central entrance. I’m still a bit confused whether this is a train station or a
metro station. You are here and I need to go south from here or Ginsa. That’s actually the area in
which my hotel is. So, we need to go to Ginsa. So, I think my hotel is somewhere in this area. Okay.
So, you need a ticket to enter the station here. That means somewhere I need to buy a ticket. Maybe
here. Passengers have a ticket such as Japan rail pass. Please use another entrance. This sounds
like a train station entrance. I don’t think this   is the metro actually. English. Please insert
your ID card in the train. I don’t know what an IC card is and I don’t have one. Okay, maybe
not here. Okay, no staff around here. But yeah, I do think this is the train station entrance,
not the metro station. Okay, different entrance this time. And here it looks much bigger. We
have a service station here. Travel service center. So at least there’s somebody to ask here,
I think. And then yeah, over there is the entrance   to the station again. And that’s where I need a
ticket. This looks more like metro station vending machines. Let’s have a look. Maybe let’s check
out the map first to actually see what’s the name of the station where I need to go to. So Shimu
station. That’s the station around the area of my hotel here. Shimu. So, oh, this is confusing.
Um, so I don’t think I can take a direct train. I need to change somewhere. Shinu Nichu. Okay, I
need to remember the name. Shintu nichu. Oh, maybe here. This is for the Chinkan train. This is not
a metro ticket. Probably buy a metro ticket. So, I think JR Jr. I think are trains. So, I think all
of this is a train, not actually the metro. Okay, I need to to speak to someone. There were
so many staff people around at the airport,   but here I haven’t seen any yet. Okay. Tourist
information. Hello. Hello. I have a question. I’m looking for the metro. Metro? Yeah. This is
the train station, right? Yeah. JR train station.   We are now. How do I find the metro? Metro is
underground. Underground. Yeah, we are here. This is the JR. So, go out. Go out again. Here. Yeah.
After the US stairs. The stairs. Okay. Staircase. Read the staircase. Go down. Uh-huh. after the B
floor. M B1 floor. Okay. This is metro mark. This is the metro sign. Yeah. Okay. M line is Maro.
Okay. So follow red circle. The circle. Go down to the left and then follow red circle. Not so
far. Follow the red circle. Okay. Yeah. Sounds   easy. Maybe one or two minutes. Okay. Not so far.
From Germany. Germany. Germany. Yes. You’ve been before. Okay. You Today is my first time in Japan.
Really? I’m just coming from the airport. You look   so familiar. Oh, really? Maybe all Europeans look
the same for you. Do you need any brochure or like I don’t think so. As long as I’m so I go out and
then the stairs and then follow. Okay. Okay. Thank you so much. Okay. Thank you. All right. So, when
in doubt, just uh ask the local. So far, every local has been extremely helpful and friendly to
me. So, that seems to be no problem in Japan. The problem is whenever people are explaining me
directions, I’m struggling to remember them.   Maybe some of you are the same. So I really try to
remember now. She said go out, take the stairs and then follow the M sign. We have the M sign as
well. So you can also take the escalator here.   Okay. So yeah, once you know how it works,
it sounds obvious, right? This is the train station. This is the metro station. But if you’re
arriving here for the first time, you have no clue and that can be a bit confusing. So I know some
of you will comment already know who. This was so   obvious why you don’t do any research in advance.
I always have comments like this. But that’s how I like to travel. I always travel very spontaneous.
I don’t pre-plan my trips. I just arrive and then figure out everything on the ground. So, metro
line right here. Let’s figure this out. So, yeah, every time I I film these videos, there are always
like two, three people in the comment section   who think they know it better and who comment
something like this, but I know the majority of you is very positive and yeah, always comment
something nice. And yeah, I really appreciate   all your your comments always. I’m always reading
the comments. So, thank you very much to everyone leaving nice comments. And by the way, if you’re
new here, feel free to subscribe to the channel   to follow the journey. I’m going to stay in Japan
for a while. And I have some interesting things planned here. Okay, I do need a ticket to enter,
but where do we have ticket vending machines? Oh, here we go. Yeah. So, the map that we saw earlier
was then basically just a train map, I think. So, this is a different one. What did I say? What
was my station name? Shinu, I think. I think we’re going from here to here and then we change
to the gold line. to meet. Okay. Cat. I don’t have a card. What card do you want? How do I switch
to English? International languages. English. All fair information will be displayed in English.
Thank you very much. Purchase a ticket. Search by station name. Oh, I have to type the station
name now. I forgot the name. Shin Shin something. Right. Wait, is it here? Shintu. Shinchu. Here we
go. 100. Please insert money or a card if you need a receipt. Oh, looks like I can’t uh pay with tap
here. Yeah, nowadays I just tap my phone to pay. Okay, good that I went to the ATM earlier. Please
not change now. This is the ticket, I think. Okay, can I enter now? Here. Honestly, this ticket is
so small. I don’t think it meant to go in here. Everyone is just tapping. Should I put this small
ticket in here? Oh, yes, I should. Okay, here we go. Okay, I’m inside the station. That’s the first
step. But I’m pretty sure I can’t go directly to where I want to go. So I need to figure out where
to change the station. So where do I go now? This   side or that side? Ginsa. I think Ginsa is the
area where my hotel is. So I think we’re just going into this train now and then we see what
will happen. So you get very organized. Everyone waits until everyone is out of the train and then
you enter. So here we are. So this is the golden line. I think we’re going to get out here. Okay,
fingers crossed I’m on the right train. All right, and here we are. So now the question is I
don’t even know if that was the right train,   the right direction, but uh I think the golden
line is where I need to go onto. Okay, let me have a quick look on uh Google Maps. Maybe that’s
somewhat helpful. Um okay, so I am in Ginsa now, which is good because that’s the area I need to
go to. But this is not my final station. Okay, that’s just uh it’s already open. Okay, I don’t
get a ticket back. Why do I don’t get a ticket back? Wasn’t that ticket to my final destination?
So now I need to buy a new ticket then. I typed   in my final destination in the machine, right? So
the ticket was to my final destination. Why did I just lose my ticket then? Or why did the machine
keep it? So that means I need a new ticket then. This is getting a bit stressful and chaotic to
be honest. this station, Ginsa, and I want to go Shinto. Okay. Why do I need to buy a new ticket
now? Why did this machine keep my ticket? And where’s the line I need to go to? I’m looking for
the golden line. Let me check again. So, the red   line. I need to find the golden line. Where’s the
golden line? Is this the golden line? Maybe this is the golden one. Okay. Does this mean I need
to go straight or does this mean go up there? That’s the question now. Chu. I need to keep
repeating the name so I don’t forget it. Honestly, this station looks pretty cool. Like all these uh
dark purple designs here. That’s pretty cool. But   somehow I have the feeling again that this is not
right. I feel like I spent an hour already in the metro station. Maybe taking the taxi is indeed
the faster way despite the long journey. Oh, maybe here line. Well, I feel like I’m walking
in circles. So, I don’t need a ticket again. So, I really need to buy another ticket now even
though I already had the ticket. Okay. And here   we are. Tokyo subway ticket. Let’s do that to
English. Purchase a ticket. Enter the station. Here we go. See to meet you. Select the number.
Want to go. That’s even more expensive than it   was before. Now that is crazy. Why is it getting
more expensive? Even though I’m already closer to the station. Okay. And I have a ticket again.
Got to watch as soon as we arrive at the area   where I want to end up. We’re trying to search
for some food, but I could really go for a nice meal now. There we go. Ticket came out. Okay.
Ginsa line. Ebia line. Not even 100% sure if that’s the right line I need to go on. And look at
that. Everyone is standing on the left side. So,   everyone who wants to go faster can go on the
right side. Okay, here we are. Suki Kitasu. I don’t see my station name. By the way, if anyone
of you watching this is from Tokyo, let me know if   this is also confusing for you or only for me as a
first-time here. We are here now. No, I don’t want to go to any of these stations. And I don’t want
to go to any of these stations either. So, I think   I’m completely at the wrong place. I don’t see
my station here, and I don’t see my station here. Okay, let’s go back up. And I need
someone to speak to again. This is   confusing. I need some help. I want to go
to Shin to meet you. Right. Ticket. Oh, okay. I go down there. Take the on the right. Down there. Right side. platform 6. Go to
station. Station and then change. Uh nearest to nearest. Okay. Okay. Thank you so much. He
said it right. Right. That’s where I’m just coming from to be honest. Maybe I need to uh to
change again, but what I looked up earlier was   so we took the metro from the main station, one
station, and then I had to change to another line, which I think is here. But maybe I’m uh at the
wrong place. So I think I messed up somewhere   along the journey. Okay, I’m back here now. No
idea. So according to Google Maps, I am already in Ginsa. My hotel is near this station, Shinu.
So I basically just need to get from here to here, which should be the golden line, but I don’t see
the golden line running where this dot is. So it’s not near me. So here’s the main station. And
then we took one station to here. To be honest, I don’t know where my mistake was, but somewhere
along this journey, I did make a mistake. You know   what? I’m just going to go into this train now
because Tsukiji sounds also familiar. I think that area is also near my hotel. Okay, I think I
have a solution. So, we have the Tsukiji station here which is here as well. So, this is the right
train. So, it’s two station and then this station is very near the station I actually want
to go to, Chinu. So, I think I’m just on a different line now, but I will end up in the
same area hopefully. So, let’s do it like that. Okay, here we go again. So,
two stations now in this train. Okay, here we are. Okay, the metro here
is actually super super quiet. Yeah,   like I said earlier already, I read that
it’s unpolite to talk loudly in the public transportations. So, that’s also why I didn’t
really speak during the metro ride. Anyway,   I hope I am at the right station now.
Why is the gate always open? But uh Okay, I’m leaving my ticket again. I’m losing my
ticket again, I should say. So, let’s hope I   don’t need to buy another one. Smells like food.
That’s exactly what I want now. I don’t know how long this section in the video was now, but I
literally spent probably an hour inside the train at the metro station. That was very stressful, I
have to say. But now, I’m very looking forward to get a proper meal and then check out the robot
hotel. Okay, here we are. So, as far as I know, this area is called Ginsa, and it looks quiet.
It’s also very peaceful and calm. I mean, this is the biggest city in the world. Doesn’t get any
bigger than this. And you don’t hear any noises. Wow, that’s amazing. Was similar already in
front of the the train station earlier. Wow, that is very impressive. Who would have thought
that the biggest city in the world is literally so quiet? And as I’m saying that, it gets louder.
Wow. Yeah, you can hear of course the traffic noise a bit, but uh I have seen way louder cities
in the world. Way smaller and way louder cities. Very first impressions here now. Reminds me a bit
about China. If you’ve seen my China videos here on the channel before, maybe you would agree with
me. China is also very yeah quiet. Many of the cars there are electric. So the the noise level
in the big cities even in huge cities like Beijing or Shanghai is very low and it actually seems to
be very similar here as well. So that is a good first impression. Okay, so my goal is now to find
something to drink. I’m also very thirsty and then find some proper food. We do have vending machines
here. Japan is very famous for vending machines,   right? What are we having here? Coca-Cola
Aquarios. Oh wow, that is a drink I remember from my time in Spain. I used to live in Spain for
6 months in 2015, 10 years ago for an internship during my university time. And during that time, I
always drank at Quarios. I think I’ve haven’t had this drink for 10 years. Wow. I need to buy that.
I mean, you can also get tea here, green tea, black beans, and roasted green tea. I think these
are coffees, water. All right. How much is there? 180 500 coins. I want to have this one. And there
it is. I get my change. And here’s the drink. In case you don’t know, Aquarius, it’s very similar.
Maybe you know Pocari sweat, like an isotonic   refreshing drink. It’s very similar. Yeah, it
tastes almost exactly like pocari sweat. But wow, the the flavor reminds me immediately of uh my
time in Spain 10 years ago. Oh my god, time flies. I would not have expected this drink here in Tokyo
today. Do you know this feeling? Like sometimes   you’re eating specific food or you’re drinking
specific drinks and it immediately reminds you of a certain time in your life or a certain place
that you visited. Ah memories and yeah Tokyo itself has about 14 million people only and then
the whole greater area has 37 million people which yeah makes it the the largest metropolan area in
the world. So yeah arriving here literally means stepping foot inside the biggest city on earth.
So yeah, definitely can be a bit overwhelming and as you saw, chaotic and stressful to figure
everything out as a first- timer here, but these days are literally my favorite traveling days.
Arriving in a new country for the very first time, I absolutely love that feeling every single time.
Again, I don’t know if that’s only me or if you   can relate to this, but when you’re arriving
somewhere for the first time, it’s always so exciting and everything is new and wow, and yeah,
I absolutely love this feeling. Okay, look at this. So, I found a little side alley and maybe we
can find some food here. Candied strawberries. Oh, I tried these before in China. Interesting. Oh,
we have fish here. Oyster. You know what? I’m just going to uh enter one of the small side alleys
here. Closed already. Where can I find some food? Some some place is still open. 7:30 of morning.
Morning. Oh, okay. Today close. Okay. Thank you. Okay. She said it starts in the morning. Now
we have a late afternoon already. And yeah, it   seems like many of the places here are closed, but
I’m pretty sure it must be possible to still find some food here in the afternoon. But yeah, the
thing is obviously I don’t see any English here,   which uh yeah, before some of you are commenting
again, which of course I don’t expect that. I just mentioned it. What are you selling here? Like
sushi or meat? Sushi bowl. Sushi bowl. Sushi   bowl. Old sushi. Do you also have the small
sushi? Sushi? No. No, only the bowls. Yeah, bowl. You have skewers here as well. Barbecue.
Barbecue. Hashimi only fish or you also have like meat? Meat? No meat? Only fish? Yeah, only fish.
Oh, I would prefer some meat. But wait, I need to ask you something cuz uh there I have a problem.
I need to tell you about that. But I think I’ve   never mentioned that on the channel before. But
I’m actually allergic to MSG. I developed that allergy in the past one or two years. And yeah,
MSG is basically used everywhere in Asia. So, it’s actually quite difficult to uh to eat
without uh finding a place. Oh, do you use MSG? Do you know what I mean? No. Like the the white
powder. Yeah, it’s similar like sauce. Yeah. Do you know what I mean? No. No. Yes. Because
my stomach gets very bad if I eat it. So, I need to make sure that you don’t use it. Sauce.
Yes. Only use sauce. Can I ask the chef again? The chef? Okay. It’s a good feeling to get rid
of the backpack now. Okay. Yeah. I think I never mentioned it on the channel before, but
I developed an allergy against uh MSG. Like in   the past one or two years it started like first
I didn’t even know what’s the problem. I always had a bad stomach. Then I went to the doctor and
he told me maybe it’s MSG that’s a big problem in   Asia. Sometimes people who stay in Asia for a
while develop an allergy against it. And then I tried to keep an eye on not eating MSG and
then my stomach got better. But the problem   is that basically all the countries in Asia
use MSG as if it’s salt. They put it in all the foods and my stomach gets upset if I eat it.
Okay, so I do have the menu in front of me here   now. And the good thing is there’s also even
English translations. So we have minced tuna, squid, fatty tuna, abalone, sea urchin, and
yeah, as the guy outside already explained, only fish here. I would actually prefer
meat, but I’m actually also so hungry now,   and I’m curious to try fish here. It’s so popular
here. Tea. Tea. Tea. I think you said tea. Can you do you understand this? No, you
don’t understand or you don’t use it. Asking now about it. No, no, no. Okay, thank you
very much. So, yeah, they call it Ainomoto here. I think that’s a local brand of MSG. So, I prefer
the translation of uh saying, “Do you use MSG? I am allergic to it. Can I order something
without?” Okay, I got a tea already. Also, cold tea. would have expected the tea to be
hot to be honest. So this black or green tea   tastes almost like a mix of both black and green.
Interesting. Okay, I think I’m going to order the tuna bowl. Fatty tuna for 990 yen. Can I have the
fatty tuna? Is it with rice? Is fatty tuna better than regular tuna? Because I see regular tuna
here, which is cheaper than the fatty tuna. Hi. Is this with rice? No rice. No rice. This is only
sashimi. I would like to have tuna with rice. Tuna with rice. Only tuna. Only tuna would be good.
Yeah. So these are just the fish and this is So this is tuna with rice. I would do it without
rice. Yes. Okay. Then I will like this one,   please. Miso soup. No miso soup. No miso soup.
Okay. I think I order it. A bowl with tuna and rice. Let’s see what I will get. Okay. So she
wrote my order on the paper here and then it’s getting freshly prepared here in the kitchen right
in front of you. Oh yeah, that looks delicious. I’m actually very excited and also very hungry now
for this meal. Okay, literally a minute later and   he already handed me the bowl and gave me this.
So I think once I’m finished, I take this over there to pay. Okay, so I do have a very delicious
looking bowl in front of me now. I actually think that the tuna is basically raw. And I think I’ve
never eaten raw tuna before. And let me get some chopsticks from here. So tuna is my favorite fish
to eat. If you know me, then you know I’m not a huge fan of seafood usually, but tuna is actually
a type of fish I really enjoy. For example,   I remember when I was in the Maldives, maybe you
remember my video from there. There I eat really, really delicious tuna, the best tuna I ever ate.
But there they grilled the tuna. So here it seems to be raw tuna. And I’m actually not sure if I
will like that. And then yeah, underneath the tuna   there is rice. And then we have some seaweed here.
I think sesame seeds. This one I’m not sure what this is. And I’m also not sure what this is. Maybe
just onions. But yeah, let’s start by just trying   the tuna. Yeah, I think it’s raw tuna. It’s cold.
Okay, the rice is not hot. Warm. I have to say the rice is extremely delicious. I really like the
sesame seeds in between. They add a really nice   flavor to the rice. And this one, I don’t know
what this is. Tastes a bit sour. Similar like lemongrass. Maybe this is lemongrass. Has a fresh
kick to it. Really nice, actually. This one looks like a sponge. I also don’t know what this is.
Could be egg. Maybe this is egg. Okay, let me grab one bite of everything like the tuna, this one
which I think is lemongrass and the rice. It’s all together. One big bite. I think then I can taste
all the different flavors at once. Let’s give it   a try. Yes, I do think that’s the right way to eat
it. All the flavors combined in my mouth. That’s very delicious. Especially the combination of the
fresh kick from the lemongrass, which I think is lemongrass, and then in combination with the tuna,
that’s very good. Yeah. Yeah, to be honest, I’m   not a huge fan of just eating the tuna roll like
this, but the combination of all of this together is very good. Let’s see how much I have to pay
this price. 1,320. Yes. 2,000. I think I have uh 20. Which one is the right coin? That’s 300.
300. Okay. Oh, so you Oh, then you don’t even need this. Okay. Okay. Thank you very much. Okay. Have
a good day. Thank you. Thank you very much. Okay. I think that was a good first meal for me here in
Japan, but I’m not really full yet, so I need to   find something else. And also, the restaurant
was extremely quiet. I do have the impression that Japan is a very quiet country. The roads are
very quiet. The restaurant was very quiet. The metro trains are very quiet. So, maybe this is the
quietest country in the world. Who knows? Okay, so what we’re going to do now is I’m trying to
make my way towards my hotel now. And then let’s   see if I find something along the way that looks
interesting to eat. And also it actually feels very good to be back in East Asia where the cities
are clean, where I feel 100% safe even in the metro, even after sunset. Everything is modern.
You don’t see trash. So East Asia is actually   one of my favorite parts in the world to travel
to because of these reasons. Like for example, the the safety topic was a big topic on my channel
recently when I filmed in the US because even though I really enjoyed traveling in the US and
I will for sure return, I didn’t really feel 100% safe in the cities there. And when I mentioned
that like there was some like some things going on in my comment section like some people didn’t
agree with me saying that but that’s just how I   felt. And then in comparison to that whenever I’m
in East Asia whether that’s uh mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, Korea, I feel 100%
safe walking around the cities taking public transportations also after the sun is down. And
so far this is exactly also my impression here. I absolutely don’t worry about safety at all. And
I think that really improves the travel experience and also the living experience if you would live
here. If you can just feel 100% safe the whole time. And look at that. What is this building?
This looks old historic. Interesting. And there’s a guard as well here. Maybe there’s a sign here
explaining that. Do you know what this is? Seems   like it’s some sort of religious maybe a Buddhist.
It looks at least like it’s it’s historic place. It looks old. Yeah. I have a closer look. Maybe
I can find out. Thank you. Also, I see already a lot of foreigners around here, like uh western
foreigners especially, which makes sense. Tokyo is one of the most visited cities in the world.
So, obviously, probably in all parts of the city, you see tourists here and there and probably in
some parts more than in others. But, uh what is   this building? So, I definitely can’t enter it.
The big door is closed, but uh some people are taking pictures up there. What is this building?
It looks very nice. I’m wondering what it is. Are you from Tokyo? Maybe. Tokyo. Yes.
Okay. English. Oh, she speaks English. I’m just wondering what is this building because
it looks very beautiful. Oh, yeah. Yeah. This is   a Buddhist temple. A temple. Yeah. This is
Okay. Okay. Hongranji temple like a Indian building. A Buddhist. A Buddhist Buddhist temple.
Okay. Okay. So, it is a mixture of western and eastern culture. Ah, mix of western and eastern
culture. Okay. Yeah. When we go inside and temple itself is very Japanese, typical Japanese, but
I cannot go inside. Yeah. Oh, okay. Okay. Yeah, it’s close 400 p.m. 4 p.m. Oh, okay. Okay. So,
how do you like it? It looks very beautiful. My first time in Japan. Really? Where are you from?
I’m from Germany. Germany. Germany. Welcome to   Japan. Thank you so much. So, you’re here to take
pictures? Yes. Yeah. And we are mono ladies today. Uh-huh. Okay. This is traditional outfit, right?
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Uh-huh. Oh, very nice. So,   can I take a picture with you? Sure. Sure. Yes,
of course. We’ll take a picture together then. Yeah. Cool. I’m also I film a video for YouTube.
YouTube? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I make a video about Tokyo today. Oh, yeah. Yeah. And now I’m trying to
find my hotel somewhere here. Do you know the name of the hotel? Uh, no. I don’t know. But I will
find it because I live in You live in this area. My hotel is with robot. Rob. Ah, I know. Ha hotel.
Ha hotel. I think that’s the name. Yeah. So, you know the hotel with the robots? Yep. It’s
very interesting. Okay. You also have a big camera here. She’s a photographer. Should we take a
picture together? Oh, yeah. I want to take picture   with you. But I don’t look as nicely dressed as
you are. Like I’m I’m feeling underdressed here. Okay. Let’s take a picture here. You do like this
with the hands. Exactly. Thank you very much. Oh,   no problem. Thank you. Thank you. Have a nice
day. Yeah. Thank you so much. I’m really having a good time so far in Japan. The people here are
so friendly and welcoming. That’s very nice. Yeah,   it’s so nice. Okay, I try to find the robot
hotel now. Do you know where it is? Go straight. Straight and straight and left over there. Okay.
And do you know if there’s a 7-Eleven or Family Mart here? Oh, of course. The Family Mart is just
over there. I guess I can show you. Oh, it’s okay.   You You don’t need to to to come with me. But we
go over there. Oh, you go there anyway. Okay. Oh, the people here are so friendly. I love that.
Really? Yeah. Japanese people are so polite and   friendly. Oh, thank you. That’s very nice. I just
arrived here, but I like it already. Good first impressions of Japan here. Yay. Are you bow here?
Like this? Okay. Oh, right over there. Okay. Okay. What’s your name? My name is Kumiko. Okay. Nice to
meet you. Thank you so much for your help. Yeah.   I’ll follow you later. Okay. Goas. Okay. Bye-bye.
Bye-bye. Okay. Oh, that was a lovely unexpected experience. And yeah, I was specifically asking
for either a 7-Eleven or Family M because Yeah. Everyone who has been to Japan told me you must
try 7-Eleven in Japan. It’s so amazing. And because I’m still a bit hungry, let’s have a look.
There’s Family Mart here. So, I will have a look   inside that one. Okay, so Family Mart. Let’s have
a look. Let’s see what items they have. Okay, we have a coffee machine here first. That’s the first
thing I see. And then the second thing I see are   German Haribo Gold bear. Then it’s even written
in German here, which means golden bears. And then lots of different snacks. plum flavor with
seaweed seedless dried pickled plum or so many uh interesting things. And we also have chocolate
here, crunched chocolate. I think this is also   very popular in Japan. Salted edamame snake, which
I’ve never tried before, but I heard it’s very popular in Japan. So maybe that’s something I can
try because I’ve never tried it before. And then you can find different types of nuts here. We have
cheese fish cake, fish paste cake. Oh, we have pokei here. I really like pokei, but I’ve never
seen this type of pokei before. Okay, some little   cookies here. I think matcha chocolate, although
I think Latte is a Korean brand, not a Japanese brand. And then we have all types of drinks here,
of course, as well, including green tea, which is   also very popular or famous here in Japan. You
can get Red Bull energy drinks here. Then, oh, it goes on and on here. We have a sausages here,
yogurts, pudding, pictures of sumo fighters here, also very iconic and popular in Japan. Little
cheese spreads here. They are looking good as   well. basically like a hot dog here, arena, and
all types of dishes that you can probably heat up somewhere here, like little wraps, some noodle
dishes here, some baguettes as well, sandwiches, eggs. Okay, I want to try something I’ve never
tried before. And I want to drink something   I’ve never drank before. So, let’s go with this
one. Light salted Adam snack. And then what is this? I can’t read it obviously, but it is in
the tea section. So, all of these is tea. So, I guess this is also tea. You know what? I’m
not going to get my translator out to translate   it. I’m just going to try this. And you can also
get some hot snacks here. Boneless fried chicken, spicy fried chicken, some meat skas here, chicken
skin. Okay, I’m just going to buy these two. I don’t need a bag. I think I have five. Wait,
10. Okay. Okay. Thank you so much. He gave me my change. I gave him a,000 bill and the price was
300. Did Did he give me 700 change? I don’t know. I’m a bit confused. I feel like like of course
he did it right. I’m just checking my pocket.   I don’t have any change. The only note I have
in my pocket is another 1,000 note. Did he not give me my change? I can’t imagine he did that on
purpose. Let me before I go in and ask him again, I want to make sure that I really don’t have it
with me. No, I literally don’t have any change   in my pocket. All right, let me go back and ask.
That’s a weird situation now cuz I can’t imagine that he did that on purpose. Let me ask him.
Excuse me. Is it possible that you didn’t give   me my change? The change like the the price was
300, right? Oh, so you you took 300? Yeah. Ah, okay. Okay. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Okay. Sorry.
Yeah. Okay. I know what he did. Okay. It was my fault. I handed him the coins and uh the price
was 305, right? And I gave him like a handful of coins and I thought he’s just going to take a five
um yen coin. So I gave him a th00and plus uh five and then I thought I would get back 700 change.
But actually he took three 100 yen coins. And that’s also why I still have the 1,000 note in my
pocket because I actually took it back. Okay, that   was totally on me. My mistake. And yeah, I would
have been very surprised if he just didn’t give me my change. That would have not make any sense.
Anyway, here we are. So let’s uh try this drink. Yeah, I don’t want to translate it. I just want
to try it more exciting. But first, let me try   this one. Adamei. Actually, I don’t really know
what adami is. Isn’t Adam cheese? This looks like a beans. Okay. It’s small little uh pieces like
this. It’s very um like there’s nothing inside. It’s very um how do you say that in English?
Hollow inside. Like here, you know, if I crack it   open, there’s nothing inside. So, it’s very light
and easy to eat. Very salty. But yeah, the the packaging literally say salted. Not a huge flavor
to it, to be honest. Just a little light snack. Okay. And then let’s see what this is. I hope
it’s tea because it was in the tea section. Let’s   try it. To be honest, I think it’s just black tea.
Cold black tea without sugar. Yeah, I think that’s what it is. So, nothing too special. Just black
tea in a plastic bottle. Unsweetened. At least it doesn’t taste sweet at all. Okay. And I think
my hotel is literally around the corner here. So,   I think I made it almost. And then yeah, I’m very
excited for this hotel. I really can’t imagine how it is to uh check into a hotel that is operated
by robots. So, let’s have a look. By the way, look what I found. Chinto station. You remember that’s
the station I was trying to end up, which would have been literally right next to my hotel. But
yeah, somehow I messed that up. But in the end,   I still made it. And here it is, the Henna Hotel.
So, let’s have a look. Here we are. Okay, so this is a bit weird. So, we literally don’t have humans
here. We have only two robots sitting here. So,   they don’t seem to speak. I think I have to press
everything myself here. Figure this out. Check in. Oh, now she’s speaking. Ah, and yeah, we do have
a Halloween decoration here as well. Let me switch   it to English first. Check in name. Sorry, but
we are unable to handle your transaction. Okay, can’t find my name. Okay, second try with these
lovely ladies who are not very talkative. Check   in again. Uh, English. Check in by name. Sorry,
can’t handle the transaction. How do you got that QR code? Uh, I got an email I think 3 days before
the Uh-huh. He has a QR code on his phone to check any which I don’t have. And it’s like in check in
my QR code here. Yeah. Thank you. The I need your reservation. Take your with some human help. I
found my reservation. But yeah, theory, you should be able to check in here completely without any
humans. Okay. I’m a resident outside of Japan. Now   I need to scan my passport. Total charges 100 yen.
That’s just a tax. I’m going to pay with credit card. Okay. Pay with my credit card. Now it says
issue on your room card. Oh, down here I have my room card. Okay. Oh, he’s even moving. Okay. This
is so futuristic and weird. Oh, look at this. Oh, even like the mouth is even moving. Look at
that. Welcome to Hotel. Maybe in a few years, in the near future, all hotels around the world
will be like that. Actually, I think that is   very likely to happen. That is a bit scary, but
I think I’m seeing the future here. Oh, okay. I’m having room number 912. Okay, here we go. And by
the way, the room here costs quite exactly $100, which for Tokyo is on the lower end of prices.
Many hotels here are quite expensive actually. So, let’s see what $100 a night gets you here in
Tokyo, Japan, in a hotel operated by robots. So, I’m hoping there will be no robots on my room.
Okay, let’s have a look. All right, actually, it feels very good now to put the backpack down
to finally have arrived. What an arrival that was here in Tokyo. But, yeah, I have very good first
impressions here. I really like how polite and   friendly all the people are. I can feel 100% safe
walking around here. It’s clean. I’m also very excited to try the food here in the next days.
So, I’m very happy to be in Japan. And yeah,   we’ll stay here for a while. There will be more
videos from Japan. So, yeah, if you’re new here, feel free to subscribe to the channel to follow
the journey. And now, let’s have a look at   the room. Let’s start with the bathroom here, I
guess. So, uh yeah, it’s not this the biggest one, actually. It’s pretty tiny. So, we have a
toilet right here. I think it’s a Japanese   heated toilet. Uh no, it’s not heated, but
maybe you can switch it on here. So, these Japanese toilets are very well known to be fancy.
Oh, yeah. seat temperature. So yeah, you can make the seat heated and then yeah, you can have uh
yeah, spraying and [ __ ] and shower. So yeah, very fancy toilets here in Japan. A tiny sink, a
little little bathtub, and uh the shower here as well. And then yeah, the room is like this. It’s a
very small room actually, but I do actually have a   double bed here and then a TV. The TV is actually
huge for the size of the room. Like in proportion, it looks quite huge. A little area to leave your
things. And then unfortunately I don’t think I   have a view. Yeah, literally looking to another
wall here. And then what is this here actually? Is this a wardrobe that is somehow electric? Ah, what
is this? This looks like a fridge, but you hang your clothes in here. Is it cold? No, it’s not
cold. What is this? I’ve never seen something like this before. If you know what this is, let me know
in the comments because it it looks like a fridge,   but uh you are supposed to hang your clothes in
here. Very interesting. Oh, steam clothing care system. So, I think you can let your clothes steam
inside and then maybe that’s like uh like to iron the clothes, you know? So, if you put your suit
in there, leave it overnight and then it will   look all even and good again. You know what I
mean? Huh. Very fancy. Interesting. I’ve never seen anything like this. First look, it looks
like a like a fridge, right? Actually, speaking   of fridge, do we have a fridge here? We do have a
kettle here as well. Yes, there is a fridge here. Nothing inside though. A little safe. And this is
a chair as well. Okay. Yeah, hotel prices in Tokyo are quite high. This is what you get here for $100
a night in a very futuristic robot hotel. Okay, that was a very interesting and exciting day. And
tomorrow I’m actually changing to another hotel   and I will also explore more of Tokyo. I’m very
excited for that. But that is going to be in the next video. So stay tuned for that. And as soon
as the next video is online, I will leave a link   to it right here. Stay healthy, stay positive,
and then see you in the next episode. Cow guys.

In this video I arrive in Japan and collect first impressions of Tokyo. After landing at Narita Airport, I finally arrive in Tokyo, Japan for the very first time. My goal in this video is simple: to reach my hotel in the city, but things quickly become more complicated than expected. In this video, I experience my first time in Japan and share my first impressions of Tokyo while trying to navigate the metro system, finding my way to the Henn Na Robot Hotel, and getting a first taste of Japanese food. Along the way, I get lost in the Tokyo subway, meet friendly locals who help me out, and start to discover what daily life in Tokyo really feels like. This Tokyo vlog shows both the excitement and the challenges of visiting Japan for the first time and explores the question many travelers have before coming here: is Tokyo worth visiting? Tokyo is one of the most visited cities in the world and it has always been my dream to travel Japan. So, now I am very happy to be finally in Tokyo for the first time.

  3. 8:09 That woman was so nice! I definitely would have chatted with her a little while longer. Lovely!

  4. Tokyo is so quiet… and then there’s my country Bangladesh 😅 Dhaka has to be one of the craziest, loudest cities in the world. Honking never stops!

  5. Let's see what kind of an international incident this guy gets up to. Riding a train without paying? Sneaking into the Fukushima exclusion zone? Stealing from graves?
    We shall see.

  6. Haha i love seeing people getting lost in Tokyo 😂 and Shinjuku is the real nightmare. Without navigation is not a good option in Japan because on the same platform next train could take you to totally different place 😂

  7. I feel you on the metro confusion. I've lived in Canada my whole life (near Toronto), and don't even go on the metro's here ! lol.. Unless is a regular thing you do, I'd avoid metros, plus all of the people everywhere, yuk. If your on a budget, I get it.. I simply pay for Ubers or Taxis, convenient, quick, no other people. Mind you, I don't travel very often, maybe once a year. So when I do, I pay for all of the most convenient methods. Cheers !

  8. Edamame = soy bean
Polite way to say you’re sorry / I apologize = sumimasen just in case you make a mistake like the ¥300 change situation

  9. 1:00 they close shades to keep the plane a bit colder when it's very sunny outside and the aircon is still not at full blast and the plane is not at altitude where its colder

  10. use your phone with google translate, I do that all the time and he hasnt been on the trains at rush hour with the people pushers who push people in so they can close the doors!

  11. I got a little bit bored watching all this train stuff so I fast forward and there was nothing but that I hope the rest of your trip and videos are more exciting

  12. Subscribed! Now one of my favorite travel channels🙌 Hopefully I can also visit Japan one day🥹
