Nippon-Ham infielder Kotaro Kiyomiya took part in some batting practice using four different types of bats during the team’s fall training camp held at Escon on the 31st.

Kiyomiya Yuki uses four unique bats for tee hitting and free batting: a metal bat, a heavy bat, and a thin bat. “It’s just for fun. I want to swing at different putts and get a variety of sensations into my body. So that I can make a good swing with each bat. I probably can’t swing it with just my fingers. They’re heavy and long, so I need to use them well and in tandem. I want to let it soak into my body,” he said, wiping the sweat from his brow.

He had also used it last offseason, and said, “It’s scary after all. What if I use it during the season and it ends up falling apart? I have time. The amount of swinging will be reduced. I thought I’d try swinging different things. It’s a light-hearted approach.” He explained that this is something that can only be done during the offseason.
