Uruguay to Argentina on The World’s FASTEST FERRY!

Today myself and Holafly will be taking you on a
very special journey from Montevideo in Uruguay to Buenos Aires in Argentina and showing you
all the benefits of THE BEST eSIM in the world! We’ll be in First Class onboard the
World’s FASTEST Ferry – which travels at up to 107km/h – Faster than MOST
South American trains – so let’s go! First thing I need to do, is call
an Uber to get the to ferry port, and luckily I have a seamless and fast
internet connection with my Holafly eSIM that I can just get online straight away
– and 2 minutes later – my Uber arrives! It’s only around a 10 minute
drive from Montevideo city centre, and I can follow along on maps all the way! I really enjoyed my short visit to
Uruguay. It felt the safest place of the 7 countries I visited on this continent. Yes, it was more expensive compared to Brazil or Argentina – but it had a very unique
culture, and identity, which I liked! Before long, we are pulling in to the
port ready to get this journey started. Buquebus, who we’ll be travelling with today, have their own terminal at the port –
solely for their services to Buenos Aires. The whole building has step free
access, from street to boat. It is recommended to arrive 60-90 minutes
before your scheduled departure time. Heading inside now, and it’s
a nice bright open space, with vast ceilings and some lovely design
features, such as this hanging sculpture. Each of the 4 classes of travel onboard
the ferry have their own designated queues. We’ll be in First Class on today’s trip. Check-in is very fast and efficient, with each
passenger allowed one 20kg suitcase free of charge. Two carry-on bags are also permitted to be
brought on board. There is no limits on liquids. You then head through a boarding pass check, and onwards to immigration. It’s all
much like an airport to be honest. Both Uruguay exit and Argentina
entry checks are conducted here, so we can just walk freely off on arrival. Then, there is a few duty-free shops, before you head up to the departure
area, by either lift or escalator. Up here there is just a café and a
large seating area. There did used to be a First Class lounge, but apparently
this was removed for cost-cutting reasons. There is no WiFi available here, but luckily
I have my Holafly eSIM to keep me connected. I just want to talk quickly about their
fantastic new service, Holafly Plans. This is a global data, monthly
subscription which covers 160 destinations and comes in 2 different packages. There is the ‘Unlimited Data Plan’,
or the ‘Light Plan’ which comes with 25gb data. The 1 month plans
can be cancelled at anytime. Both offer hotspot capability and 4G or 5G data
which is the perfect solution for a remote worker and digital nomad like me, who is always on the
go, and crossing borders many times a month. If you need some more convincing, Holafly have over 67,000 reviews
and a 4.5 rating on Trustpilot too. The connection and network switching is
seamless, as we’ll see later on in today’s trip. And if you subscribe for 12 months on
either plan, you save 22% straight away, and if you use my code: NONSTOPEUROTRIP, you get
another 10% OFF these prices too for a WHOLE YEAR! That means you can get a WORLDWIDE,
UNLIMITED DATA eSIM for just $45 per month! That is unbelievable value compared
to what I’ve been paying in the past. Holafly is certainly my ‘go to’ eSIM now! Just click the link above, or in
the description below and use Code: NONSTOPEUROTRIP at checkout and grab yours today! Our ferry will shortly arrive, but
first, let’s check out today’s route. It’s quite a simple one today, with a
near direct passage from Montevideo to Buenos Aires, which will take us around 2.5
hours to cross the Río de la Plata estuary. And here comes our ride, the
Fastest Ferry in the World! The HSC Francisco, is a High-speed Catamaran which
was built in 2013, and named after Pope Francis. She is power by 2 Liquified Natural
Gas Turbine engines producing a total power output of 44,000kW (59,000hp), which
allows a maximum speed of 107km/h = 67mph! She has a gross weight of 7,109 tonnes and
a capacity of 1,025 passengers and 150 cars. OK, let’s board. First and Business Class
passengers have a priority boarding gate, and then you walk along this level boarding
finger to access the ship on deck 2. The premium cabins are on deck 3, which is accessed by both this
lift, and by the main stairs. We will check out all the classes of seating
and the rest of the ship once we get going. A quick ticket check is made to
pass in to the Business Class cabin, and then the First Class cabin is beyond
this, right at the front of the vessel. Another ticket check, and a high-visibility
wristband issued and I’m in! Seating is unallocated, so if it’s
busy you’re going to want to ‘claim’ your seat straight away. Luckily,
we don’t have that problem today! All First Class seats are these large
leather reclines, and are in pairs of two. At this point a complimentary glass
of champagne is offered by the crew, and gladly accepted and we depart
Uruguay exactly on-time at 11:00am. The full route from Montevideo to
Buenos Aires is 220km (137mi) in distance and is scheduled to take 2
hours and 30 minutes of travel time. The prices are dynamic, so do vary a little
bit, especially in peak holiday seasons, however I paid 126,000 Argentine Pesos
(£64, €74, $86) for my First Class ticket, which is on the cheaper
end of the price variation. The cheapest ticket for this crossing was 71,000
Argentine Pesos (£36, €41, $48) for Economy Class. Here’s a look at all the
prices for a date 3 months in advance of travel on the Buquebus website. You can book direct with them and pay with
most international credit or debit cards, and then receive your eTicket by email. The onboard WiFi wouldn’t connect
for me until later on in the journey, so to make my social media posts
I again was using my Holafly eSIM. This kept a strong signal until at
least 30 minutes into the trip! We were a good distance away
from shore at that time… The First Class seats are really comfortable,
had a good shape, and are well padded. There is also a reading light
built in to the winged headrest. It can be reclined a long way using this
button, and there is also thigh support. One USB-A port is also built
in to the side of the armrest. Legroom is good, however I felt it was a bit
claustrophobic with the console in front of you. The tray table was large, however is was
far too close to my knees when deployed. Here is a look at the ‘Gourmet Food Selection’
that was available for purchase. Their words not mine. We’ll buy something after we’ve
had a look around the rest of the ship. Here are the Business Class seats.
The comfort was similar to First, but I felt these offered more space
with a much more open feeling. Finally here’s a look at both Tourist
and Economy Classes. Honestly, they’re pretty similar but only
have a small price difference. Every Class has a access to a small take-away
café selling a selection of drinks, sandwiches, salads and snacks – although
these were quite expensive. There is also a coffee shop in
the central area of the ship, with additional table seating out here too. Finishing of the amenities of the ship, are
a kids area with a TV showing cartoons… …and a duty free shop,
selling, well, duty free things! Various toilets are spread
throughout the ship too, and these were all clean, tidy,
fully working and stocked up. OK, back in First Class and I’m going to order
a sweat treat, another glass of champagne and sit down to answer some question I get all
the time about Holafly and eSIMs in general. I understand it’s still quite a new technology, and the majority of people have
never used one. So here we go! Will an eSIM work on any phone? The short answer is no. But they are rolling out
on more brands and models every generation. All Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel and iPhones
since 2020 support them and other select models from Huawei, Xiaomi, OnePlus and
Oppo. The best advice I can give you is to check out the compatibility guide which
I will link in the description below. Your phone also needs to be ‘unlocked’
from any specific carrier network. Are eSIMs easy to install? Very! The Holafly App explains everything
for you. Some phones support a ‘One Click Install’ though the app, but on all others
you can just scan a QR code. Just make sure data roaming is enabled, data usage is
defaulted to the eSIM, and you’re good to go! Why should I get an eSIM over a regular SIM? The main reason I now use and eSIM all the time
is simplicity. I love being able to pre-purchase what I need in advance and it just comes to life
as soon as I land and switch airplane mode off. Instant and fast connectivity and
no hassle. In the past I’ve had to spend over an hour at airport SIM card
stands working out the best company, and deal to go with – all while trying not to be
ripped off too. And many only take cash payments! But aren’t eSIMs much more expensive? Not really. Especially with subscriptions like
Holafly Plans, I find that for regional or global plans, they actually work out cheaper.
Not to mention the amount of time I save! Why should I choose Holafly? Of all the eSIM providers I have used over the
past 4 years I find Holafly have among the lowest prices, the fastest connectivity and 24/7 customer
service with real people! I had some problems with an eSIM I was using in Asia, and they had it
resolved over a live chat within 10 minutes. I was very impressed. It was me being stupid, and
not an actually problem with the eSIM by the way. Can I buy an eSIM in advance? Yes absolutely! You can buy your Holafly Plans
eSIM though the app or website and it is activated straight away. I’d recommend you install and
set it up on a WiFi network a few hours before leaving for the airport and then you won’t lose
any days, you can check it’s working properly, and you’ll arrive at your destination
already connected and ready to go! Can I keep my existing home
country or WhatsApp number? Yes! You don’t need to reconfigure anything
when using an eSIM. It will work alongside a physical SIM just fine. Holafly Plans eSIMs
also come with a European phone number that you can use to receive text messages – so you can
transfer your WhatsApp to this number if you want. So, what’s the catch? If there is one, I haven’t
found it yet! I use eSIMs on every trip I make now. I wouldn’t ever go back! Don’t forget if you get a 12 Month
Holafly Plans subscription, you save 22% on the monthly price, and if you use my code:
NONSTOPEUROTRIP, you get another 10% OFF too! Just click the link above, or in the
description below and grab yours today! Well, this journey has absolutely flown by and
before long we are approaching Buenos Aires. My Holafly eSIM has automatically
switched over to an Argentinian network, and I’m already back online as we see
the impressive skyline come in to view. This has been a great journey. Very
comfortable and fast. I couldn’t believe how smooth the crossing was
considering the speed we were going! Also, very reasonably priced. Would I
chose First Class again? Probably! It wasn’t that much more money and was
a very relaxing and quiet experience. We arrive exactly on-time, at 1:30pm. As I said before – I just walk off, no checks required and I get straight on
the phone to book an Uber to my hotel. Have you been on any ‘Fast Ferries’ before? If so, which ones and on which routes? How did you
find them? Let me know in the comments below! I’m always open to new video ideas, so if you
have something you’d like to see on the channel, then drop me DM on Instagram, BlueSky or Twitter. Don’t forget to subscribe, thanks for watching
to the end, and I’ll see you in the next video!

  1. I was in Uruguay almost two years ago. Visited Montevideo and Punta del Este. Our journey over to Buenos Aries was a bit slower, overnight on a Cruise Ship
