Keitaro Gentoga, a university student with strong spiritual powers, becomes Yayoi’s tutor. Having once been attacked by a spirit that harmed those close to him, he slowly begins to recover through his bond with her.
Based on Kenichi Kondo’s manga serialised in Jump SQ., the anime is directed by Ikehata Hiroshi at OLM studio.
The main cast includes:

Kondo thanked readers and staff for their support, recalling his experience while drawing the Kyoto arc. “When I was drawing the Kyoto arc, I remember only thinking, ‘This is way too much…’ But looking back now, I often find myself thinking, ‘Wow… I can’t believe I actually drew this insane scene. That’s wild,’ if I may say so myself,” he said. “Now, this ‘wild’ story is being brought to life by an amazing staff, with everything they’ve got. As the original author, I would be honoured if you could look forward to the broadcast and future updates!”
Director Ikehata clarified that Season 2 isn’t a split-cour continuation but a brand-new production greenlit due to the show’s popularity. “That’s something truly special and makes me extremely happy as a creator,” he said. “This was only possible thanks to the fans in Japan and around the world who have loved Dark Gathering. To live up to those expectations, the entire staff is prepared to descend into hell itself to create an even more terrifying world. Please look forward to what’s coming!”
Yu Sasahara, who voices Yayoi Hozuki, shared her excitement too. “Finally, it’s time to head to Kyoto! I’m so, sooo excited to shout ‘Let’s Go! Ghost!!’ with everyone again!! The battles, the excitement, and the horror—all of it is going to be amped up to the max! Please be ready for what’s to come. I can’t wait to meet Yayoi again!”
Nobunaga Shimazaki, voice of Keitaro Gentoga, added, “Season 2 of the Dark Gathering anime—yes!! I can’t wait to cry, laugh, scream, tremble, and suffer together with Keitaro again. The story is about to get even more intense, so please look forward to it!”
