I bought a few persimmon for 200 yen each at my local supermarket, opened them and this is what I got. Is this normal? To me, it looks spoiled but it is very rare for supermarkets to pull one on their customers.

Are they suppose to be dried persimmons? If so, I think they look fine. If not, they look sus. Normal persimmons shouldn’t be mushy on the inside.

Please look up dried persimmons and normal persimmons to compare.

If you are still unsure then its better to be safe than sorry.

that is spoiled persimmon. A dry persimmon is flat and round. They cover in chalky dust.

It’s just an overripe fresh persimmon, like how bananas get brown spots. My mom eats it like that because she can’t eat crunchy things. If it smells fine and tastes sweet, it’s ok. She uses a spoon to scoop out.

It’s over ripe, but perfectly good. They’re actually great for turning into baked goods like cookies, muffins or even mixing into pancakes (or turning into a pancake topping)!
