A new, nostalgic photo spot for Super Mario Bros. has been unveiled at the Nintendo Museum.
The new installation, which opens today, October 29th, is the latest addition to the museum’s ongoing anniversary celebrations.

The photo spot features a pixel-art-style castle and a classic Goal Pole, allowing visitors to recreate the iconic, level-ending scene from the original game.
The Nintendo Museum’s official X account shared an image of the new area, complete with a figure of Mario sliding down the pole.
This new installation is part of a larger celebration at the Uji, Kyoto museum, which marked its first anniversary on October 2nd, 2024.
This milestone coincides with the 40th anniversary of the Super Mario Bros. franchise.

In addition to the new Goal Pole, the museum has already added a 40th-anniversary logo object to its popular “warp pipe” photo spot.

Visitors are also being given a special, limited-edition admission pass featuring a Super Mario Bros. 40th-anniversary design.

To commemorate its first year, the museum also recently released the “Nintendo Museum Official Book Vol. 1.”

The book, which is sold exclusively at the museum’s Art Gallery for ¥1,650 (approx. $11.15 USD / £9 GBP), provides a deeper look at the exhibits and includes a special feature on Mario’s 40th anniversary.

The celebration is set to continue, with a special 40th-anniversary light-up of the facility scheduled to run from the 3rd of December, 2025, to the 27th of April, 2026.
