Naomi Osaka has made another change to her coaching team after calling an end to her 2025 season.

Osaka split with main coach Patrick Mouratoglou after Wimbledon this year, with the pair working together for around 10 months.

It was not long before the former world number one announced his replacement, with Osaka bringing in Iga Swiatek’s former coach, Tomasz Wiktorowski.

This change has seen some improved results for Osaka, before she suffered a leg injury that ended her season at the Japan Open, and it has now been confirmed that another member of her team will leave.

When Mouratoglou joined Osaka’s team in September last year, he also brought along a strength and conditioning coach from his academy in the form of Guillaume Brunoir.

Despite Osaka parting ways with Mouratoglou back in July, Brunoir has remained on her team ever since, but it appears that they have now split.

Brunoir confirmed this in a post on Instagram, writing, “Some chapters are meant to leave a mark. From Los Angeles to Osaka, through every court, every session, every challenge. Quiet focus, fleeting moments, unseen efforts, and the laughter we shared along the way.

“Proud of the work, the growth, and the bond built during these months. Thankful for the path we shared. Ready for the next move.”

It appears that there are certainly no hard feelings between the pair, as Osaka also wished Brunoir well for his next career move.

Osaka commented, “Thanks for everything. Wishing you the best on what’s to come!”

How much has Naomi Osaka improved in 2025?

Although Osaka has not ended her season in the way that she would have wanted, it has still been a much improved year compared to 2024.

Osaka returned to the WTA Tour after giving birth to her first child last year, and she was unable to break back into the top 50.

However, this year has been a significant improvement for the four-time major winner, with Osaka now the world number 16.

Osaka has also won her first title at a lower-level WTA 125 tournament in Saint-Malo, which actually came in Mouratoglou’s reign, as well as reaching the finals of the Canadian Open and the Auckland International.

Perhaps her most notable improvement has come at Grand Slams, where she was unable to surpass the second round in 2024.

This was particularly prevalent at the most recent major, with Osaka reaching the US Open semifinals for the first time since winning the title in 2020.

The only thing that has not improved for Osaka is her record against top 10 players, as she has only won one of her five matches, which came against Coco Gauff at the US Open.
