I’m about to buy a miata for the first time. I know a lot about the car and driven both. The question is: there’s this guy who owns both a ‘92 NA 1.6 115hp which you can tell it has some bodywork to do (the back plastic glass has to be replaced) and a ‘03 NBFL limited edition 1.6 6gears (twin I believe?) which has been totally restored and it’s in wonderful shape. The price is asking is 11k€ for the NA and 8.5k€ for the NBFL. What should I I buy? I want the NA because it’s the real miata but at the same time, the NBFL costs less, has defroster glass, ABS, airbags, 6gears, is newer, has no bodywork to do, less kms and leather interiors all of this by costing less. What should I get? None of them have signs of rust, I checked them both personally. This is very hard.

NB is my answer, NCs are too expensive for what they are, NB is best because its safer and doesnt rust as much as the NA and its still practically the same car… if you are crazy for the pop up headlights u can give yourself a project and fit popups on an NB… over all NBs are better in every way, especially if u get the 1.8, really fun engine

NB is just as much a “real miata” as the NA?

The NB is superior in pretty much every way except for just not having popup headlights. In the NBFL you get power steering, a more rigid chassis, and the 6 speed gearbox from factory, plus the NBFL is literally going to have access to 90% of the same aftermarket catalogue as the NA and NB8A. Main catalogue differences will just be body panels and some interior trimming.

The NA costs more because people want to buy what is now a classic and they want popup headlights. Otherwise they’re all the same slow but insanely fun convertible, buying another was the best decision I ever made.
