Haneda Godzilla

A new, super-large-scale project has been announced that will bring the King of the Monsters, Godzilla, to Japan’s primary gateway to the world, Haneda Airport.

The “HANEDA GODZILLA GLOBAL PROJECT” is a new, joint collaboration between Toho Co., Ltd., Japan Airport Terminal Co., Ltd., and Tokyo International Air Terminal Corporation.

The project will transmit Japanese entertainment to the world, with the globally recognized icon, Godzilla, serving as the main attraction.

The centerpiece of the new project will be the installation of a “Super Huge Godzilla” monument in the departures lobby of Terminal 3.

This new monument will be an incredible 40 meters long (approx. 131 feet) and 9 meters high (approx. 29.5 feet).

It will be the largest indoor Godzilla monument in the world and is based on the original 1954 design of the monster.

This massive Godzilla will be positioned to see off all passengers as they depart from Japan.

The experience will not be limited to the departures hall.

In the 2nd-floor arrivals lobby, a large statue of Godzilla from the critically acclaimed film Godzilla -1.0 will be installed to welcome all visitors to the country.

The area above the information counter in the same lobby will also be decorated with graphics of various, iconic kaiju from the Godzilla series.

The theme of the project is “Godzilla welcomes all visitors to Japan, and Godzilla sees them off when they depart.”

It is designed to create an unprecedented and memorable airport experience, serving as both a prologue and an epilogue to every traveler’s journey in Japan.

The “HANEDA GODZILLA GLOBAL PROJECT” is scheduled to be completed in late December 2025.

The installations are planned to be on display for one year, until late December 2026.
