Police in Japan have raised security alert levels in the capital, Tokyo, in preparation for US President Donald Trump’s three-day visit tomorrow.

NHK reported on Sunday that this is Trump’s first visit to Japan since 2019. During the visit, he is scheduled to meet with Emperor Naruhito and hold his first summit with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.

Approximately 18,000 officers have been deployed throughout Tokyo, and sniffer dogs have been deployed to detect explosives around the US embassy and investigate any potential threats.

Police have urged citizens to contact security forces without hesitation if they observe anything suspicious.
