Osaka Expo Is Over & Overtourism is Over Too!? Peaceful Dotonbori & Quiet Shinkansen to Tokyo Ep.605

Hey guys, today we are in Namba station Osaka. Yes, finally Osaka Expo is over. You know because of the Osaka expo the hotel price, restaurant price, food price increase compared to the before expo and after the expo hotel price becomes about the half price. So I guess many people are wondering how the street looks like after the Osaka expo. You know in Osaka many people are crazy about the expo the Makumyakuda character. Maybe we can find the leftover cell or maybe we still see same. So today we are heading back to Tokyo. So, we will explore the Nampa station and also the do food street and many other places and we’ll ride on Shinkasi and check out the Tokyo 2. All right, so let’s go. By the way, today’s number located over here. They always change a place. used to be over there and before it was over there. By the way, still there are so many people taking rest in front of the Nanka station. It becomes the nice square and there are plenty of spaces to walk. I like the change. Before going to do food street area, let me get the discounted ticket of the Shinkansen. So here original price is 13,870 Japanese yen and the price is 12,900 Japanese yen. Wow, that’s a good deal. Let me check up the other discounted ticket store too. In the Abisashi Street, there are the discounted ticket store. The yellow one over here and the orange one over there. Let me see. So I just check up the other discounted ticket store. And it seems like that one over there was the cheapest. The other one was 80 Japanese more expensive. I know it’s not that much differences but uh you know it’s just a walking distance and we have time so why not? Let’s get the discounted tickets from that store over there. So here there is a discounted ticket vending machine and we can always buy it. Price is 12,900 Japanese yen. That’s a good price. One thing you have to be careful is that you need to use the cash, no credit card. So let’s do it. So, just place the 13,000 Japanese yen. And we need to place this for the receipt. And here we go. Yes. So, that’s the ticket. So, here we go. Already we got the ticket. And we already saved the 970 Japanese yen. It wouldn’t take that long time, but we could save 970 Japanese yen, which is a lot of money. But there are two things you have to be careful. one the price will be changed. The discounted price usually changes during the busy season and also we have to change the date. So we have to go to the Shinkaset ticket office. Sometimes it take a while but both of them if you visit here during the off travel season which is usually you know like October November and early December plus end of January February and the area of March those seasons if you visit here usually there’s a less waiting time and also discounted ticket price usually cheaper. I assume today’s waiting time would be less than 10 minutes. So I think it worth it even thinking about the credit card point. Yeah, definitely that discounted ticket store better deal. All right, so anyways, let’s walk in and Sububashi Sushi Street. Today I have something that I want to eat before leaving Osaka. Compared to the last time we walked this street, the crowdness still much much better. Maybe because it’s the weekday too though. However, still there are a lot of travelers over here too. Maybe, you know, it’s just finished the Osaka Eiso. So, after several weeks from now, probably it will be much much better, I guess. Yep. Rico Cheese Cage always it’s so popular. Price is 1,65 Japanese yen. Well, it used to be 500 Japanese yen. So, compared to the previous price, it becomes almost double price. But still, even 1,65 Japanese yen, there are so many people waiting in front of it. So, I think thinking about the inflation in Japan, they will increase the price more in the future. There is a line in front of 55 on Horai too. This is one of the most popular me in Osaka. You can only find it in Osaka. Yes, it’s October, so it’s time for the ski burger. Ski meaning watching the moon. There is a egg inside. You know the egg yolk looks like moon, right? So it’s ski burger. It’s one of the most popular seasonal burger in Japan. When the autumn season comes, everyone will talk about the ski burger. You know ski burger, they have long history too. Well, so I’m eating it since I was a kid. Whenever I eat that ski burger, I feel like the autumn came. Well, I believe many Japanese having the same habit. So, especially younger generations. So, that skinny burger is one of the culture. We’re almost arriving to the doto. Oh, by the way, some of you guys asked me for the local ramen restaurant in Osaka. Let me introduce one. When you see that strawberry maria, just keep straight. There is a daiso on your left side, but just keep straight. You will go to the back street and you will find the coin locker which is a kind of local one compared to the station one. It’s much much cheaper. Just remember the price. 400 Japanese yen for the middle size one and 300 Japanese yen for the smaller one. Yes, true. It is not as convenience as the station one, but uh let’s say if you have a small souvenir that you just want to place it in, you can just use here. Usually it is pretty safe in Japan. So even it’s in the back street. I’ve never heard that you know that someone break in and you lose the baggage. Well, of course if you place in the cash or like super expensive laptop, I wouldn’t recommend it. But uh yeah, basically it’s cheaper and convenient. So I usually when I hang out with my friend sometimes I have a heavier backpack. Yeah, I usually use that kind of like local coin locker. still keep straight. It’s the local sake store, but they are mostly selling for the restaurants though. And the ramen restaurant over here, it’s one of the most popular good and cheap ramen restaurant for locals. This Huji, usually during the lunch time, there is a long line in front of the restaurant. One thing you have to be careful is that they always close on Tuesday. So if you are visiting here on Tuesday, they are not opening. Another coin locker over here. The small one 300 Japanese yen, the middle size one 400 Japanese yen, and the large one 600 Japanese yen. But you know the station coin locker, it cost 1,200 Japanese yen. So it’s about the half price. Now we came back to the main street. Let’s keep walking to do. Ah, look at that. That would be a good souvenir. You know, it’s Japan only taste. They have hokkaido butter, beef tang, apple, wasabi, monja, matcha, takoyaki, chicken wings, and also spicy cut roll. Oh my goodness. That would be very interesting. And it would be a good souvenir. Huh. Well, it cost 1,400 Japanese yen. On the bottom, they have a takoyaki flavor. Yep. Something special in Osaka. 853 Japanese yen. In Japan, even if you want to buy a snack or bottled drink. Yep. Somehow the drugstore has the cheapest price. I know it sounds weird. And even they have a cheaper price compared to the supermarket, too. So, if you want to buy something at this big street, just try to find a drug store. Yep. much easier to find compared to the supermarket. And you can have a good deal. Much cheaper compared to company 2. And here we go. Doburi H. Much easier to walk. So is do food street. And now we arrived to Ebisubashi Bridge. So many people walking beside the bridge too because it’s a beautiful day. Oh, Tombburi cruise over there. But seems like not that many customers though in the tomb food street. There is some interesting restaurant over there. If you can’t eat the pork, but you want to try the itchangut flavor ramen, you can try the restaurant over there. There is a no pork Ichang ramen over there. So even if you want to eat the har food, you can try that ichang ramen over there. Well, I’ve tried it before. Even they don’t use the pork, it has pretty similar taste compared to the original Ichirang ramen. So if you want to try itchang without pork, maybe you can try over there. So let’s walk in the dotari food street. Not that many people interested for the display. Let me see. Maybe I can be filmed by myself. Oh, it’s gone. It was so close. That’s okay. Oh, hello. Hi. Kind Ramen restaurant used to be so popular for travelers, but seems like not that many people over here though. Yep. There was an unfortunate news that fire on the Ichirang ramen restaurants and now it’s closed. But probably next time when we come back, the Ichirang restaurant will be back here, I guess. and the crane yoga machines. It’s like a takoyaki photo spot. You can place your face over there and you can take photo. That’s pretty fun. And here they also have the takoyaki key holder too. Let me see what else they have. Oh yeah, the Halloween is coming. Oh, Pokemon monster ball. I’m wondering what’s inside. And it seems like it’s super easy to get wine, especially that one over there. So, let me try. 100 Japanese yen to try. Well, according to my experience, we can get it even though if they didn’t bring it up much because it’s closed. Do it. Well, even they didn’t move it at all. Well, maybe that’s a Xbox price setting still. Hopefully in the future they can change the setting though. It’s a pretty clean cro machine place. I love the atmosphere. Freeland here and the dolma from Kim Noya. You know, one thing that I realized is that this side of street of doburi used to be it was very quiet. Even though there are many restaurants, there were not that many people. But you know, after the Osaka expo, even this side of the Doburi food street, there are so many people. Well, maybe because there are so many travelers or maybe because they open the new stores. Yeah. It’s very interesting feeling for locals. Yeah. Now we are at the Senichima street. I realized that there are more ramen restaurants over here. Here there is a Kindu ramen restaurants and no that’s another ramen restaurants next to it. There’s another ramen restaurant over here. And next to it, yes, the Kamukura. In front of it there is Ichirang. Yep. All of them are ramen. You know many travelers from foreign country love ramen. And don’t worry it’s one of the most popular spot. So that’s why there are many ramen restaurants. It totally makes sense. You know Osaka is a merchant town. So whatever they can make money they will make more and more. Yes. It’s the merchant town Osaka and my hometown. Loving it. Also, it has a totally, you know, slow laidback culture compared to Tokyo. It’s an interesting city. So, I recommend you to stop by over here, too. And now we are at the Senichai Pachinko Street. It’s like the big casino street. There is a pachinko store over here and another one over here. Also, another two pachinko store over there. And still it continues. This Burger King used to be the McDonald’s, but now it becomes Burger King. Recently seems like we are having more Burger King compared to McDonald’s. Well, maybe because in Japan compared to the McDonald’s and Burger King, Burger King is slightly cheaper. It’s about I think 100 to 200 Japanese cheaper. So not that many people eating, you know, the fast food burger. They don’t care about the difference much. So recently more younger people preferring the Burger King especially they have a kind of app special. So that’s the reason why. And here it’s another pachinko store. According to Japanese government pachinko is not a gamble though. And here yes there is my favorite restaurants. Oh seems like they have many new restaurants over here. So, yep, it’s over there. So, it’s fugettu. They have okonamyaki and also yaki saba, which is the fried noodle. So, let’s do it. So, it’s fugettu. They have okonamiyaki and yaki saba. Those modaki is my favorite. Seems like we can order from the app. Wait, the price is different. Oh no, I just realized the including tax price is over here and the app shows that including tax price. So that’s the reason why you know this fugit restaurant is my favorite. Maybe because I was eating it since I was a kid. But uh yeah, compared to the other food, it’s a bit expensive. However, they have really good okonamiyaki. You know there are so many okonomic restaurant in doi but many of them mainly because it’s popular for the travelers there are so long line in front of the restaurants. However this fugget restaurant it is a chain restaurant so we can find pretty much everywhere and also in the restaurant there are plenty of spaces. So usually we don’t have to wait at all and the biggest thing for me is that we can’t find this hugget restaurant in east side of Japan much. We have only several fuget restaurants. So whenever I came back to Osaka, I feel like that I want to eat the fugetu. Here we go. So ready to eat now. Let’s eat. Here we go. It’s But one thing you have to be careful that they will take time to cook it. It takes about 22 plus minutes. So if you’re in hurry, probably you can pick up some other restaurants. But yeah, if you have time, you can always visit this who gets restaurant. All right. So, nice flavoring cabbage with noodle perfectly matches with their okonomi sauce. I always like to add the cheese and the kimchi. It becomes the accented. Well, maybe compared to the regular style of okonomyaki, that’s a bit different, but I always love them. I like to place the sauce in the mayonnaise. Usually, there is no may on the table, but if you ask to the staff, they can always bring it for you. And this is theory. seaweed. In the comment section, there was a comment that uh they want to know something that I usually eat. You know, whenever I don’t film the video, usually I eat a very simple food. But speaking of the restaurant, well, of course, there are some restaurant that I only go while I’m filming, you know, such as super popular spot or the tourist, such as super fancy food only while I’m filming. But speaking of the restaurant, this restaurant, it’s a place I usually go as well, especially with my friend. You know, the okonamyaki hall, it’s pretty big. So, it might be bigger for one person. However, if you have a group of people, you can share the okonomiyaki or you know one this okonomyaki and also the noodle. Plus, they have many different kinds of food as well. So, share and eat. You can taste more different kinds of stuff and it’s more fun. Yeah, that was pretty good. The price is 280 Japanese yen. Yeah, thinking about okonomiaaki. It’s a little bit expensive, but it’s big. I’m totally full. I can’t eat anymore. And it was my choi. So, loving it. Oh, seems like outside already gets darker. Yep. They took a while to cook it. This Wanaka restaurant is also one of my favorite takoyaki too. If you just keep straight through Senimai street, you will arrive to doji which is a tool street. Entrance of two street there is a donkey hotel. This donkey hotel compared to doiwang there are much much fewer travelers. So if you want to shop in this donkey hotel this donkey hotel is more useful. in front of two street if you go straight it’s south it’s old arcade basically those are the back street of Nambai area so there are more small restaurant and the drinking restaurants usually locals drink and eat over there let’s walk through this doguji tool street there are many interesting shops mostly tools They have Maku Maku key holder and also that’s a utensil store. Well, to be honest, I thought there will be more, you know, the Maku Maku stuff because it’s a local arcade, but seems like not that much, huh? Well, probably because it is licensed item and hard to deal with. So, maybe that’s the reason why. There are small souvenirs, but uh no Maku. By the way, if you’re wondering what’s Maku. Yep, that’s him. He was a collector for the Osaka Expo, which is already gone. Though after pass this street, if you turn left, there is a Denden town, which is kind of Osaka’s Akihabala. And if you turn right, it’s already Namba station. Starting from this street, there are more anime and a trading cart shop. So if you like Akihabala, probably you will like this Denon town too. All right. So now let’s go to Shin Osaka station. Just turn right on the first corner. Oh, I didn’t know that this building becomes much nicer. There’s a huge display in front too. Really? McDonald’s gets nicer as well. Maybe in the future they will start something, you know, like the 3D cat over here and it will be a popular spot. We will never know. We will see in the future. Tekka Dream trading card dream. Always there are new stores around here. It’s a cigarette vending machine and also Hanamaru udong. It’s like the malame seen. From here we can’t ride on the bike, but there are people riding on the bike. Yep. Osaka style. Well, there is a positive and negative meaning. However, Osaka is more like, you know, the laidback R city compared to Tokyo. Well, maybe that would be interesting for travelers. But speaking of the bicycle rules in Tokyo and Osaka is different. Tokyo is much stricter. So even something that you will get the ticket in Tokyo, but not in here. Yeah. Well, I think because of the expo, it become more stricter a little bit. But you know, Tokyo, it’s more strict. Yeah. Maybe that’s the Osaka style still. Yak Maku over there. I’m wondering how long they will keep selling the Makyaku stuff. So now we are heading to the coin locker. There is a coin locker, but I usually use the downstairs one because usually there are more availabilities and also there are more spaces. So if you have a extra large luggage probably this is a place that you need to use. But, you know, regular size huge luggage, you can always use this one, which is 1,200 Japanese yen. Yep. Double price. And the middle size one, 700 Japanese yen. And small size one, 500 Japanese yen. Well, there is a cam and also so many people walking around. So, this place it’s much safer though. Anyways, let me pick it up. And here we go. Yes, my luggage over here. All right, so let’s go to Tokyo. Firstly, we need to go to the Shinosaka station. It’s already 6:00 p.m. So, rush time has started. Hopefully, the Shinkansen is not that crowded, though. I’m not planning to reserve the seat. So, we need to find a seat anyways. So let’s go from Namba station to Shinosaka station. It’s six stations subway. Oh yeah, right on time. Oh wait, this one go for Nakatu. Nakatu station is before the Shinoaka station. So that train doesn’t go to Shinosaka station. Speaking of the Osaka metro, some train doesn’t go until the Shinaka station. So if you are taking the train before you riding on it then make sure to check the train go until where? Well, but you know in case if you take that kind of train you can just get out from the train and then you can take the next train. You should be fine though. But just be careful. And it seems like this train goes until Shiosaka station too. So let’s take this train of a short time super crowded in Shinosaka station. Well the train itself actually it’s crowded but still I assume Shinkansen is not that crowded. Just follow the blue sign and you will get to the Shinkansen station. We only have this face recognition system in Osaka but it seems like no one is using it still. There is McDonald’s. Oh, now we have a Shinkasen display over here, too. Oh, we didn’t have one before. It’s Omeyag Shop. Just keep straight. Mr. Donuts, my favorite donuts restaurant. And the station pento. Oh yeah, Shinyosaka station. If you want to buy the station bento, there are plenty of choices in front of Shinosaka station and also another station bento store upstairs. If you had no time to eat, there is takoyaki ramen, kushi katsu, Starbucks, okonomyaki, tempura. Yep, they have so many different kinds of stuff. But because it’s the rush time, so seems like it’s crowded by the sal man. Many salary man having a business trip for a day from Tokyo to Osaka. Sometimes they have a conference in Osaka from Tokyo. They usually come in the morning and go back around this time. All right. So, let’s change the date of Shinkansen ticket. Hopefully, it’s not that crowded though. Oh, seems like there’s a line. So, let me time. All right. It’s done. And it takes 6 minutes. Not bad at all. Well, because it’s a Russia time, so that’s why there are so many people, but they know it will be crowded during the Russia time. So that’s why there are so many counters opening. So the waiting time wasn’t bad at all. So speaking of the Shinkansen, this time I didn’t reserve the seat from Tokyo. All of the Shinkansen are starting train. However, in Osaka over 200 numbers are starting train. So that means the noi from 6:57 and another one noi from 7:00 p.m. Those are the starting train from Osaka. So we still have about 25 minutes I guess 10 minutes before or even 15 minutes before starting the train would be fine to take a seat. So let’s go check out the souvenir shop in this shiny saka station. Here’s a rico cheesecake shop and also 551 Hawaii. Both of them are really popular souvenir. Seems like it’s so crowded, but inside the station there are the stores of 55 and also the recro cheesecake. And usually it’s not that crowded as much as outside. So if you want to buy those and get to the Shinkansen, just get it inside the station. Yeah. And also some new change. There is a company here. They used to have the snack sale in Shinkansen. However, they cancelled it. So, if you want to drink something like coffee, make sure to get it before you enter the Shinkansen. Oh, they still sell Osaka souvenir, but not half price yet though. But still, there are leftovers, but uh some of them are already sold out. I guess we need more time to get the half fries. All right. So, let’s go back to the station. So, it’s truck number 24. Yeah, 24. 256. So, inside the station, let’s go check the regrow and 551 Horizon store. So, that’s the reclo story. Yep. Fewer people over here. And that’s 551 Horai. It continues over here. Okay. So, let’s be in line. Truck number 24. Here we go. So, uh, not bad at all, huh? Last time when I tried to catch up the train, there were so many people in front of the Shinkansen. So, I was surprised, but today, not bad, huh? Oh, the Osaka Expo official store over here. They decide to continue until end of November. So, sounds like half price sale will not come yet, huh? Anyways, non-reserved seat car is starting from car number one and two. So, we got to go all the way down. There are vending machines inside the train station. So, even you couldn’t buy at the store. You can buy it at the vending machine. It’s 12 minutes before the purchase and this much people. So, yeah, for sure we can take a seat because it’s the starting train. Oh, never mind. That was for the reserved seat. So no reserve seat area. Uh this much people. Yep. Usually this is how it looks like. You know when I came back to Osaka, I was so surprised because there were so many people waiting in line. Even it was like before 10 to 15 minutes. You know, many of them were heading to Osaka for Osaka Expo. And also because of the big HO in China, there are so many Chinese travelers as well. So that’s the reason why it was so crowded. But yeah, usually this is how it looks like and uh it’s not that crowded. And the Shinkansen has arrived. Yes, this is the Shinkansen that we will ride on. Since it’s a train, no one is there. So for sure, we can take a seat. All right. Here we go. All right. Still plenty of seats are available. In front of the seats, plenty of space available. It’s better than airplane. And also there is table as well. Some shink consent have a power outlet over here but this one power outlet beside the seat. So they have a power outlet this side as well. So just leaving from Osaka but there are plenty of seats available. This is how usually it looks like in the Shinkansen. If you riding on the Shinkansen most of the time you don’t need to make a reservation but you know in the busy season or you know some busy direction you need to make some reservation. However, this is how usually looks like and this is how I believed when I go to Osaka. But uh I was totally betrayed. That’s the reason why I was so surprised. But it seems like you know the big holiday in China is over and the Osaka expo is over too. So now we can enjoy the Shinkansen much freely. It only takes 2 hours and 30 minutes, so that’s pretty fast. Oh my goodness. In Tokyo feels pretty cold compared to Osaka. Somehow it’s 18°. No wonder. Usually the temperature compared to Osaka and Tokyo, it doesn’t change much. But somehow tonight it’s pretty cold in Tokyo. You know the October this year, it was much warmer compared to the regular year. So I was wondering, however, yeah, seems like finally the cold time has came to Japan. I assume it will be colder and colder. So finally autumn leaves will change the color. By the way, Shinkansen station becomes really quiet already. All right, so let’s enter to the Tokyo station. When I was in Osaka, they renewed the station. Now there are a bunch of Uber ads over here. Oh yeah, I got to visit Disneyland, too. It’s almost 1000 p.m. But still, there are many people in Tokyo station, though. But not that many in Shinkansen station. Let’s go to check Tokyo Ichibangai, too. Even though it’s almost 10:00 p.m., still many bento store is opened. So, it’s a breakfast store. probably they will close at 1000 p.m. So even if you arrive to Tokyo station in the late time, you don’t have to worry that much. But I assume restaurant in Tokyo Chibangai most of the places is closed though. Tokyo Craft. Oh, the beer stand is open. Yep. So this is the place I usually show. Most of the souvenir shop is already closed because it’s almost 10:00 p.m. I guess most of the shop close at 9:00. However, still many restaurant it’s open. So is the ramen street as well. So seems like last call is 10:00 p.m. They close at 10:30. Oh, this restaurant opens until 11:00. Last call is 10:30. In Japan, usually ramen restaurant open until very late night, but maybe because this is in the Tokyo station, so that’s why they close at 11:00. Okonomyaki restaurant, Denoska still open too. Speaking of the restaurant, if you are visiting Tokyo, there are so many places opens for 24/7. you know the before restaurant, fast food restaurants and even if you can’t find the restaurants you know always the company is open you can always find the bento on rice bowl cup noodles so as long as if you are visiting in the big city in Japan yeah you don’t have to worry that much because usually there are many companies beside the station for most of the station in Tokyo well if you are visiting the countryside it’s a totally different story. But if you are visiting Tokyo or Osaka, those places, you don’t have to worry that much. Yeah, it should be fine. It’s kind of cool feeling walking in the nighttime Tokyo station. Yep. Speaking of the coin locker, you see in Tokyo station, which is the capital of Japan, coin locker is 900 Japanese yen, which is cheaper compared to Osaka. Yes, everything becomes more expensive because of the expo, but it will getting back to normal. So, I look forward to it. Oh, yeah. Tokyo station. So, let’s keep walking to Marino Square. Sweet, sweet, sweet. We came back to Tokyo station. I love the view here. You know, during the travel busy season, even it’s 10 p.m. There are so many travelers taking photo in front of the Tokyo station. But today seems like not that many harm. There are security guard though. Well, you know what? Actually, it’s pretty chilly. Maybe because the temperature gets cooler or maybe because it’s windy or maybe because I’m wearing still the half pants. Oh, I’m not sure the reason why. But finally, it feels like the autumn has came. Anyways, it was a very fun trip in Osaka and I’m so happy that I could visit the Universal Studios Japan’s Halloween Horror Night and also the Osaka Expo’s last day.
