Our Whirlwind Tour of 3 Incredible Sites:Himeji, Hiroshima & Miyajima

July 1st and we have moved from the beautiful city of Kyoto to for a brief stop before we move on to Hiro Hiroshima. We’re going coming here to see the castle. Everybody’s very excited. See the looks on their face. Excited. Making our way to the castle. We’re going to the main keep. We’re upstairs in the main keep. these giant posts supporting this entire structure. Massive beams ahead ahead of us holding up five stories of castle and then some nice views out over the city. Oh, and there’s the castle. We went all the way to the top of that sixth floor. Amazing structure. Really intensely built. Wooden beams and crossarss and metal and very structurally strong. And then this giant retaining wall probably 5 ft thick protecting down the incline here. I’ll look over the city. Okay. July 2nd. We are on the road and we are on getting on to the Miyagi Perry. Heading over to the islands. And there’s where we’re heading. Mountainous islands here just about 10 miles south of Hiroshima. Across a short span here to Mia, otherwise known as Shrine Island. Lots of temples, wild deer. These mountains are about 1500 feet elevation coming straight off the water. So, it’s pretty amazing. I think this one of the things this place is known for is this gate gate to all the shrines here on the island. We are making our way around Miaima, taking the walkways toward the city. Yeah, there’s a nice little brewery here. And of course, you cannot escape it. It is just everywhere. It’s the gate to the city. So, the island has a big tame deer population that loves the tourists because of course the tourists give them food. So they’re everywhere and the deer can be a little aggressive. But the bigotent draw here is the Itsu Kushima gate. This is the shrine gate. It is the most popular and Notable icon here. Still making our way around Kushima. Got to see some great artwork in a museum and historical objects. Now we’re just chilling out here looking at the shrine gate.

3 US travelers catch the bullet train from Kyoto to Himeji and explore the famous castle originated in 1333. From there, we slide down to Hiroshi for some culinary delights before heading down to the island or Miyajima to explore the main town and associated temple.
