Japan’s Mount Fuji saw snow return to its peak for the first time this season on Thursday.
The arrival of snow on the famous volcano was 21 days later than average, according to Japan’s Meteorological Agency
However, the return of the iconic snow cap was still 15 days earlier than in 2024 – the latest date for snow to have covered the mountain in 130 years of records.
This year the country has been blasted by record summer heat, seeing its hottest day on record reaching 41.8C.
This was followed by the third warmest September on record.
