US President Donald Trump will make a three-day visit to Japan on October 27 to meet with new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.

Modern.az reports that Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Minoru Kihara announced this.

“President Trump’s visit is an extremely important opportunity to further strengthen the Japan-US alliance”, Kihara added that the government “sincerely welcomes” the visit.

Kihara also expressed hope that the two leaders will establish personal ties based on trust, and reaffirmed that Tokyo and Washington will work together to create a “free and open Indo-Pacific”.

During his visit from October 27 to 29, Trump will also meet with Emperor Naruhito.

Trump last visited Japan 6 years ago, during his first presidency. Takaichi, who is the leader of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, was elected prime minister on October 21.
