WE TOOK A DAY TRIP TO MOUNT FUJI 🇯🇵 (what it’s really like)
Today, we’re hoping to catch a glimpse of Japan’s tallest mountain and one that’s only visible about 80 days a year, Mount Fuji. We started the day on a bus from Tokyo, just hoping we’d get any kind of view of this iconic volcano. And then, right as we stepped off the bus, there it was, our first glimpse. We grabbed a hop on, hop off ticket, and headed straight to one of the furthest stops, hoping for a better view. The clouds never completely cleared, but you could still see the shape of the mountain, and honestly, that made it feel kind of special. And then just as we thought the day was over, we found the most unexpectedly iconic view of the mall. Let’s rewind. It is just after 10:00 a.m. and we have made it to Zuko main station and this is the expressway bus terminal because in 25 minutes we’re getting the bus to Fuji. It is a 2hour bus journey. Got our coffee ready. Let’s go. [Music] [Music] And we have made it. We have got our first little glimpse of Fuji in the background. It’s a little bit cloudy, but I’m actually really happy with how much we can see so far. Hopefully, it will clear up. But the bus journey was about 2 and 1 half hours in the end because of traffic. It cost us 25 Y for the both of us. And now that we’re here, we have decided to buy hop on hop off tickets, which is about 1,500 yen per person. So it’s about 16 for the two of us. And that means we can hop on, hop off the bus as much as we want. And that will bring us up to the lake in front of Fuji, which is where we’re going now. Let’s go. [Music] So we took the red bus line to the very last stop, which is Oisha Park. And this is the view. It took about 20 30 minutes, but it was so worth it. It’s a little bit cloudy, but the clouds like wrap around the mountain, so I feel like you can still see the shape. So it so basically counts, right? [Music] [Music] So this spot has like almost a botanical garden here. There’s a lot of different flowers or sunflowers. These like hydrangees, a lot of ones I don’t know the name of, but it’s so colorful and makes like the viewing of Mount Fuji so nice in the background. I think it could be the best spot. [Music] It’s so beautiful and picturesque. I really love it. I just wish the that cloud here were gone, too. then it would be a 10 out of 10. Now it’s still a nine out of 10, honestly. Still love it. Yeah, I think we got Look, even though they saw that cloud, but these clouds over here are not looking so good. Yeah, they’re closing up pretty quick. The thing about coming to M Fuji is that you need to be quite flexible to follow the weather. So, if it’s a clear day, your Tokyo plans kind of need to be able to be changed around quite easily so that you can book a trip down to Fuji if you want a high chance of seeing the volcano. But you can’t be too flexible either because you need a plan, too, because the buses, they get booked out pretty quick. So, you need to book them in advance. Like for example, yesterday. Yesterday was a really beautiful day to come over here. But we had no time because we wouldn’t have had time because the buses were booked. So, we could have only spent an hour here in Mount Fuji and had to go back. Yeah, literally. Um, you kind of have to be checking the weather forecast. Maybe when you arrive in Tokyo and then seeing if you have say a week there and be checking and we can leave the link in the description below of what website we are following for the weather forecast. They give like a visibility rating um and where we booked our buses because yeah, as you said yesterday, they were all booked up. We could have made it down for 2:00 and gotten the 3:00 bus home. And honestly, same with today. We got a 10:30 bus down, but the bus back at 3:00 was our only option. So, we decided to pack our day bags and stay down for the night so that we had a good opportunity to see Main Fuji itself. And I am delighted we did that. Yeah, me too. We got We got lucky. Very lucky. Yeah. Yay. And the fun fact that Mount Fuji is not just one volcano. It’s actually three volcanoes stacked on top of each other. And it’s still an active volcano. The last eruption was 1707, 300 years ago. But who knows when the next one will be. And the volcanic activity created five beautiful lakes all around the base of the volcano. One of which we are standing beside today. And this became a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2013. [Music] And we are just walking back now through a couple of the stops that we passed on the bus. And actually, stop 19 is here. Doesn’t look like much, but it’s much much quieter than stop 20. And maybe even a better like more direct view of the mountain. So, stop 20, the benefits are the flowers, the pretty bushes, stunning. But stop 19. Maybe you can get a better photo of Mount Fuji and you and the lake and the reflections. Maybe they’re all good. [Music] The sun is starting to set and we’ve started making our way back into the town. But this is just unbelievable. And is that not the best location and the best view of a convenience store you’ve ever seen? Such a perfect ad for Lawson. Literally free marketing for them. It’s so busy here out front and yeah, so beautiful. [Music] It is now the next morning here at Kawaguchi, which is the village at the base of main Fiji. And the weather is very different today. You actually can’t see a main Fuji at all now. It’s completely covered in clouds. You wouldn’t even know it’s there to be honest. Um, and apparently we read that you can only see it 80 days in year. We don’t know how true that is really, but that just makes us feel extra lucky to have been able to see what we did see yesterday. It was actually quite unreal day. It was. It was. But now we’re heading back to the bus station and we’re getting the 2 and 1 half hour or 2hour bus back to Tokyo. So we’re going to end the video here. If you enjoyed this video, please leave a like. It means a lot to us and we really appreciate it. And don’t forget to subscribe to our channel. Thanks for watching and see you in the next one. Bye. [Music]
