When People Visit Japan But Skip Places Like This 🇯🇵 #japantravel
We’re spending our first day in Japan at Fukuoka, a cute city in Kiushu known for delicious cuisine and a thriving street food scene. We started the day with an incredible bowl of ramen at a place with no name, only a blue bucket. Since we visited Japan in late April, we thought we’d be too far south to see any cherry blossoms, and we were so excited to actually see them blooming near the Fukuoka Castle ruins. Entrance to the garden is free, and it’s a great way to spend a couple hours listening to the birds quarrel and taking in the scent of nearby flowers. Afterwards, we walked a short distance to Ohi Park, where there’s a beautiful lake that you can rent swan boats. And if you’re millennials like us, you can relish in your newfound love of bird watching. After that, there was a guy selling quesadillas from his truck. So, you know, we had to try those. But in true Mike and Ashley fashion, we forgot to film. At this point, it was mid-after afternoon, and we found ourselves just meandering through local neighborhoods, admiring the architecture and the way that everything in Japan looks like it came straight from the animes we grew up with. I geeked out over some cars while Ashley found serenity at a nearby shrine. After spending a few minutes admiring the scenery, we headed over to the red light district for food. We headed to the red light district of food. Fukuoka is known for their yatai stalls, which are basically open air food stands, and they are awesome. After some delicious kyoza and a round of high balls, we called it a night because tomorrow is a full day. Make sure to follow for part two and we’ll see you next
