Relaxing Mount Fuji Day Trip from Tokyo | Local Food, Coffee & Fuji Views | Japan Food Journey Ep. 2

Just about 2 hours from Tokyo lies one of the most breathtaking sites in Japan, Mount Fuji. But instead of rushing between tourist spots, we want to slow down to enjoy good food, quiet streets, and the perfect view of Fuji that never gets old. In this episode, we will take you on a relaxing day trip to Fuji Yoshida, trying local food, visiting a cozy coffee roaster, and sharing a few simple travel tips so you can enjoy Mount Fuji at your own pace. Welcome back to East West Vendor, where we explore real food and travel moments across Japan. Let’s begin our Mount Fucci day together. The best way to get to Fuji Yoshida and see the famous Chile Pagoda with Mount Fuji in the background is by bus. It’s comfortable, sic, and totally stressfree, especially if you book your tickets in advance through the link in this video’s description. We started our trip from Shinjuku station and just follow the signs around the station to find the bus terminal easily. We are here now earlier. So now we can find some coffee and check some snack to eat. How can I eat this? It’s too cute. So, now we’re going to try another supermarket. Um, choose some oniri for our trip. They have different types here. Maybe we can try something new. Either tuna mayonnaise [Music] or do they have salmon? [Music] Like [Music] I got the berry juice and the salmon flakes. This is how you open it. And step one, the way they pack it to keep the seaweed fresh uh separated from the rice. So like this. So So you can eat this fresh. Only rice pot so far. But very crispy, fresh. M. It’s really like um eating sushi actually, but with more seaweed. Not much salmon. That’s really good. Fresh. Way better than the one we ate in Germany. So, I I’m happy. So, we got um coffee and some um onigiri with tuna and wasabi soy sauce. I think good breakfast. Let’s try coffee. I mean, nothing special for the bus station. I think it’s okay. Just some coffee for the morning and try this. I need to open. So here how it looks like. Let’s try. Oh, some crispy. The nori pie is crispy. Actually, it tastes pretty good with wasabi. I think it gives what gives some taste compared to the one in 7-Eleven. Somehow similar. Not the not the one we tried in the first day, but pretty good. Very strong taste of pula. I like it. [Music] [Applause] [Music] So, finally arrived to Mount Fuji as you can see behind. And now we are going to the famous Trato Pagota to see it’s even better view. Let’s go. Look at that. It’s really nice. A little bit uh cloudy, but yesterday nobody could see even. So I think today we got lucky. So guys uh the tip to uh maximize your chance to see more Fuji. Uh there there is a live uh come website uh it’s like on a YouTube link uh you can see the live uh visibility of the M Fuji. I will link uh in the description below. The second thing you need to check is uh the visibility of the Mau Fuji. There’s a a lot of websites you can go to Google and uh check muji visibility and then if it’s like uh high visibility then you maximize the chance to see it like today for example like uh it’s a visibility in the morning but then in the afternoon it’s barely visibility so we are now like kind of noon so we could see that view uh and also but yesterday the visibility was like no, you couldn’t see it and also it was super cloudy combined to to with a webcam. Uh we could uh decide uh we bought the ticket uh a day before. So um it’s good to buy a ticket before, but also to check the visibility of the mafu before you go to maximize the chance to see it. This town is so quiet in comparison to Tokyo. Like literally no one was on the street. Yeah, it’s almost perfect. Yesterday couldn’t see everything. Yesterday was super rainy, so it’s understandable. But today the weather is better. It’s even hot here. Yeah. And things change fast. So make sure you check the website. There are shops in front of the boda to choose something to eat, drink, [Music] [Applause] [Music] walking after the bod. Then it was time to climb the stairs up to Chto Pagoda. It’s probably not the easiest hike, but the views are absolutely worth it. Even with Mount Fuji’s peak slightly hidden by clouds, the scenery is still breathtaking. [Music] And then it was a time to grab a quick beer. You know, although the view isn’t perfect, it’s a bit cloudy, but we found some local beer that actually the guy who was selling it, he’s brewing it, it’s himself. So, quite interesting concept. Let’s try. I have a feeling like this beer has some taste, you know, like like a mistletoe, if if you know what I mean. Christmas. Like a Christmas. Yes, it tastes like this, but it’s very special. I never tried any similar beer before, but quite nice. Although quite expensive. It’s like 1,000 yen for this, but I think it’s good. Got to enjoy in front of the legendary Mount Fuji. So, yes, it’s worth it for sure. [Music] So, we’re walking up to the pagoda and it’s quite long way, a lot of stairs, but we’ll make it, I’m sure. [Music] Tired. Yes. But we almost wait. So, almost there. Yeah. So this is the pagoda. [Music] Good thing about traveling in Japan is there are free toilets almost everywhere. [Music] So green everywhere. Oh, mountains. Yeah, here’s the classic view which you can see on a lot of postcards from Japan. Although Fuji is not super clearly visible today, but still looks really beautiful. The view from Chto Pagoda was simply breathtaking with Fuji and the surrounding landscape stretching out before us. behind the scenes. It’s a touristic attraction. What can we do? That’s really nice view. [Music] So, we enjoy the beautiful view and also pagoda and um mountain Fuji. And now it’s time to go to grab something to eat. Something Japanese. Some amazing Japanese food. Yeah. Yes. I’m craving for it now. That’s the spirit. Let’s go. I would not touch it just in case because I want to leave. Walking back is easier. Then it was time to grab some lunch. We found a cozy restaurant nearby and decided to try a local specialty, the famous hotto noodles. So, we came to the restaurant next um to this pagod that we just been and um we ordered some traditional soup uh which we will bring later. But at first they gave us some fried mochi with um sweet soya sauce. Quite interesting. It’s quite hot. Not like typical mochi. So Oh, smells good. It smells like literally like fried soy sauce but um sweet and a little bit of nori I think on top. [Music] It reminds me of um a rice um panty. Quite interesting taste actually. It’s a little bit sweet and a little bit a bit salty at the same time. I like it. Quite unusual taste to me, but there’s something in this. I think a good starter before we eat the soup. So, we have ordered a soup which is called hotto. It’s a local specialty from this region. I think it contains some udon noodles, maybe some fish seasoning. I don’t know to be honest what to expect because the menu was not clear, but it was um key purchasing criteria for me that it’s a local dish from here. So, I’m looking forward to try it. And also, they said to us that it takes 20 minutes to prepare uh this soup. So, I hope a waiting time is worth it. So, we got our soup. And actually, it has some um shiakei mushrooms, I think, inside. Um, some vegetables, also some pumpkin, I guess, uh, cabbage, beans, um, and tofu, and also fish bowls. Let’s try broth. It’s very hot. And it smells so good. Actually, it’s like reminds me a bit of miso or miso soup, but with the fish um um seasoning. Quite good. Let’s try a little bit of noodles. I want to try to combine together with um with some broth. It’s very good. I like it. Let’s try different from udo with ramen. Yeah. I mean like a typical one we ate. To be honest, the noodles itself reminds me a bit of udon, but the soup itself quite special because it contains, you know, miso miso and um fish. It’s quite interesting combination and um the flavor is quite um quite rich. Really good. But, you know, it’s really suitable when the weather is um cold, but now it’s quite hot here and um maybe not the not the best for this temperature outside, but still good. I still enjoy it. Oh, for me every temperature is good for soup. Yes. So, first thing I want to try is the broth in soup. Broth is everything. So, so intensive flavor of fish seasoning and miso soup. And the noodle looks like a dandan noodle in Chinese cuisine. Let me try. Very good. Well flavor noodle. Sometimes when you eat when I eat this kind of noodle, it could be no flavor at all. But this one really well flavor. So good. I like it. [Music] After eating lunch, we decided to explore the town of Shimayida, which is next to the Spagoda. We’ll see how it looks like. So, this the center of this town and looks so quiet like no tourists. Not many. Not many. Apart from us, maybe no one. Yeah. Yeah, there are some, but not many in general. So, very quiet. Like really high contrast to Tokyo. How quiet it is. Like no one is around. Quite spooky. This probably the main row. So getting more crowded [Music] coffee shop and of course matcha shop everywhere and then we decided to stop by at Harukia coffee roastery. The place was full of people and usually when it’s that busy you just know that the coffee is going to be good. [Music] Um here so we uh stop at this uh coffee shop for match bread and coffee and bread. Yes, actually they specialize in coffee and they have um different levels of roaster. So you can choose also beans from different countries like I think there several options. It’s because impression the coffee shop is really specialized in coffee. Yeah. And the matcha. So, I got a coffee. It’s an iced coffee. I chose the ice cuz I think the weather is suitable for this. So, let’s try. Really good taste actually. I like it. Like very strong. Not super very strong but but very flavor very well flavored coffee. I like it. And you know, when in Japan, why not order matcha latte? And uh this matcha latte looks really good. Like, let me try first. Very strong taste of matcha. Really good. Mixed with milk and a little bit of sugar. The white recommended. And yeah, it’s perfect combination. It has been a relaxing day. Now we are going back to Tokyo. First we need to find the bus stop. Yeah. Five. Do you miss uh Tokyo already? I miss the you know the hustle and bar at 7-Eleven is the spot. Another boda on the way to the uh bus station. nice and quiet compared to the main boda. So this shrine is known for its um goddess of m Fuji and Sakura trees and giant spider. It’s quite nice and relaxing atmosphere here. It’s next to a river. And another pagoda here. Looks really nice. It’s quite a cool uh school bus. So the the day trip to Mount Gucci was good. I mean we tried some good food. We saw the three amazing pagodas. Um also walked around um uh this small town which you know it was an opportunity for us to see um Japan in the countryside was unique experience as well. Of course like we we were slightly unlucky with the weather but we still could see Mount Fuji. So in general I recommend the trip. You can also go to Lake Kavagucho and see things around. Also I heard it’s very nice. You can see like other videos on YouTube, but we decided to do in a bit more like lazy way, you know, just to enjoy the food and the view. So, does the Mau Fuji uh meet your expectations? Yeah, I mean it was a nice experience as well, like nice view, but again the weather could be slightly better, but other than that, it was a cool experience.
