Hidden in Kitakyushu, this shrine might just be one of the most underrated sunset spots in Japan. It’s the northernmost shrine in Kyushu, facing the Kanmon Strait, where you can see Honshu (Japan’s main island) right across the water.

Come around golden hour and you’ll catch the sky turning pastel pinks and golds as the sun dips behind the torii gate. On clear evenings, the reflection over the water and the passing ships make it feel like a scene straight out of an anime.
