Reed diffusers have risen in popularity over the last few years. Once thought of as something that the older generation enjoyed, reed diffusers are now a staple part of most homes. Whether it’s masking the smell of pets or just adding a pleasant scent into a room, reed diffusers come in all shapes, sizes and fragrances. Airy, a luxury diffuser brand with unique blends crafted in Japan, has released two reed diffusers that are perfect for autumn – the Sweet Infusion Home Reed Diffuser – Hakone Jin Xuan Tea and the Elegant Harmony Home Reed Diffuser – Kyoto Osmanthus & White Tea.

We were gifted the Elegant Harmony Home Reed Diffuser – Kyoto Osmanthus & White Tea to take a closer look at and experience for ourselves. Retailing at £42.99, I was interested to find out if a luxury reed diffuser is worth the additional money. Housed in a minimal but elegant box, the Airy Elegant Harmony Home Reed Diffuser – Kyoto Osmanthus & White Tea feels like luxury before you even set it up. A misted glass pot featuring the Airy logo is designed to fit into any area of your home and it blends in with the environment really well. As well as reed sticks, the box also contains a 180ml bottle of the fragrance, meaning it should last you quite a few months.

The Osmanthus & White Tea fragrance is a blend of damask rose, iris, jasmine, musk and vanilla, with osmanthus and white tea. The fragrance is a strong one but for those that don’t like overly floral scents, this is a good choice. The vanilla cuts through the floral notes and ensures that the fragrance never becomes too over powering. To get maximum effect from the diffuser, you should fill the pot partially and pop in the reeds. After 30 minutes, turn the reeds over (use gloves though as you won’t easily get the scent off your fingers – trust me, I used a lot of bicarbonate of soda to get it off mine) and leave them to diffuse the scent. It’s recommended that you rotate the reeds regularly to keep the scent fresh and ensure it continues to diffuse, and you should keep the diffuser out of the sunlight to maximise how long it lasts.

At the time of writing this, I’ve had the diffuser set-up for 2 months and I’ve not yet needed to refill the pot. I have about a third of the bottle of fragrance left, which means I should still be able to enjoy the diffuser well into early 2026. That’s quite impressive really and goes some way to justifying to the high price tag. The initial strong scent does subside so it’s imperative that you rotate the reeds to revitalise the diffusion.

So is the Elegant Harmony Home Reed Diffuser – Kyoto Osmanthus & White Tea reed diffuser worth the money? It looks very nice and the scent is far more complex than those you’d find on the shelves of your local supermarket. This is definitely a luxury purchase to add a bit of class to your home rather than an impulse or regular purchase. I really liked the smell and for someone with a sensitive sense of smell, like myself, this is one of the best reed diffusers I’ve come across. If you want to give someone a nice treat this Christmas, I can highly recommend the Elegant Harmony Home Reed Diffuser – Kyoto Osmanthus & White Tea.
