Enjoy the Specialties of Gunma with Gunma-chan

Gunma-chan, Gunma Prefecture’s cute horse mascot, will be coming to Shibuya for the first time. To promote Gunma Prefecture’s local specialties and attractions, along with Gunma-chan’s very own anime series, the Gunma-chan pop-up shop at Shibuya Scramble Crossing will be offering a variety of original goods and Gunma souvenirs. The mascot will also be making a special appearance at the shop for fan greetings.

Admission is free. But as the event is expected to have high traffic, advance registration is required to attend. Customers will be admitted into the shop in groups of 30 people, every 30 minutes. Reservations can be booked online. After completing the application, customers will receive a QR code that will serve as an admission ticket.

Gunma-chan was originally created in 1983 as a mascot for the National Athletic Festival held in Gunma Prefecture. The character was later redesigned into the beloved mascot, who was also crowned the winner of the 2014 Yuru Kyara Grand Prix.
