As the cheerleading and performance teams of the six Pacific League teams begin recruiting new members for 2026, Pacific League Insight interviewed members currently active as performers for each team.

What kind of scenery awaits those who pass the audition and become members? Also, what thoughts have arisen through their activities?

This time, we have RYUTO from BsGravity, the official dance and vocal unit Orix The Buffaloes. We spoke to him about a variety of topics, including the joys of working as a performer in the world of professional baseball and what he values in his work.

BsGravity is the first mixed-gender unit in the professional baseball world, with a total of 14 members: nine members of the dance and vocal unit “BsGirls,” formed in 2014 as a collaboration between Orix The Buffaloes and Avex, and five members of the newly formed “BsGuys,” formed in 2024. Comprised of four vocalists and ten performers, BsGirls has released a CD every year since its formation. During the season, they mainly perform at the stadium, but also appear on TV and at events, and hold solo concerts during the off-season.

RYUTO auditioned for BsGravity in 2024. Having been involved in singing, dancing, and men’s rhythmic gymnastics since childhood, RYUTO realized the power that comes from cheering through competitions, and decided to audition for BsGravity, believing it to be “a place where I can cheer on sports with my favorite songs and dances.”

Once they actually began performing, their main stage was ground, surrounded by spectators on all sides. “I always have to be mindful of the fact that I’m being watched, and I try to exaggerate my performance to make up for the distance between us and the audience,” he said, but he also said that he spent his days searching for what kind of performance only he could do on the large ground, and how he could show off his individuality that sets him apart from the other members.

“I stood in front of the mirror and studied which angle looked the coolest, and which gestures made me look more attractive. I feel it’s very important to objectively analyze your own personality and strengths and self-produce,” she said, speaking from her own experience.

BsGravity is currently recruiting new members for 2026. When I asked RYUTO what he felt was the real pleasure of working as a “professional baseball performer”,

“I think the best part is being able to cheer for the players through their performances in a special place where you can feel their play up close batter’s box.

“BsGravity AUDITION 2026” is now accepting entries until Sunday, November 9, 2025. If you want to shine as a member of a dance and vocal unit that will bring new baseball entertainment to life, please give it a try. Click here for details
