Tateyama is a seaside city in the southern part of Chiba’s Boso Peninsula.
Thanks to its mild climate, colorful flowers like poppies, stock, and rapeseed blossoms start blooming here earlier than almost anywhere else in Japan.
It’s also a paradise for marine sports—popular for swimming in summer, and famous as one of the northernmost spots where you can see coral reefs while diving.
In recent years, Tateyama has also been attracting people who want a relaxed lifestyle close to Tokyo, not just tourists.
