A Dutch Town in the Middle of Japan
A Dutch theme park in Nagasaki, Japan. Let’s check out Huis Ten Bosch. This place looks straight out of the Netherlands. Canals, windmills and gardens full of flowers. Rows of Dutch style buildings, hotels, theaters, shops and restaurants. There are even family friendly rides like a Ferris wheel and a three storycarousel. Huys Ten Bosch opened in 1992. It cost a staggering 2.1 trillion yen to build. They planted 400,000 trees and dug 6 kilometers of canals and even shipped bricks from the Netherlands. The name comes from Huys Ten Bosch in The Hague in the Netherlands, One of the Dutch royal family’s residences. The resort has five hotels, 2 inside the park and three just outside. We stayed in the Hotel Den Haag right by the harbour gate entrance. Perfect location. We spent two nights here with 1 1/2 day passes. Our first night was clear and beautiful, perfect for exploring. The next day started foggy and then turned rainy, but luckily many attractions are indoors. The park is split into two zones, the theme park zone and the harbor zone. In the theme park zone you’ll find 3D theaters, haunted house, a mirror maze and a replica of the Dom Tower with sweeping views. The Harbor Zone has a theater and a full scale replica of the Dutch Royal Palace. This isn’t your usual thrill ride park. It’s slower paced, scenic and family friendly. We wrapped up our visit with the evening illuminations and light shows and the fireworks display at thefountain. On weekends the show is bigger, but even the weekday version was a grand finale. Thanks for watching.
