My Experience with BPRO Auto
I wanted to share my experience with BPRO Auto, after importing my 2000 Subaru Legacy B4 through them.
In short: there are much better options out there, especially when you factor in the abysmal service from Brian and the shipping costs.
The Buying Process
I first reached out to Brian about a local listing on his site, asking for more details and pictures.
Instead of sending those, he replied with the E-Transfer address and payment instructions to get started. Fair enough — I figured he wanted to filter out non-serious buyers.
So, I sent the deposit and asked again for more info and photos. Brian confirmed the deposit was received and said he’d request some pictures. I never received any additional details or photos of the car.
The Shipping Mess
The car was supposed to go from Montréal to Rimouski. Instead, due to some mix-up, it went from Montréal to Halifax, then back to Rimouski — adding unnecessary time and distance.
Not a word from Brian or the shipping company he works with. I only found this out after calling the transport company myself repeatedly for updates, which they tried to hide until I started escalating their answers.
Throughout the process, I had to chase Brian for answers. Replies were slow — often days apart — and rarely helpful.
After Delivery
Once the car finally arrived, I ran into issues getting it plated and safetied in Québec (the headlights need DOT compliance). I reached out to Brian for guidance, assuming an experienced importer might have some advice.
It’s now been over 15 days with no reply.
Ironically, his email signature reads:
"Your best compliment is your referral."
Out of frustration, I contacted another importer in Québec — someone I’ve never done business with — and got a helpful reply within five minutes, along with two sources for parts and detailed advice on the safety process. That says a lot.
The Car Itself
The complete lack of transparency was disappointing. When you translate the sale papers Brian provides, it’s clear he earns far more than the “$1,000 fee” often mentioned. The car has a misfire on one cylinder, and I am still in the process of getting the car safety-checked for Quebec. Radio silence from Brian for any assistance with parts.
Had I known this upfront — or seen the auction sheet I repeatedly asked for and never received — I might have made a different decision.
Final Thoughts
I run a business myself, and client satisfaction doesn’t end when the payment clears. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the mindset at BPRO at all.
The other positive reviews online simply don’t match my experience.
I strongly suggest looking elsewhere — there are importers who communicate better, charge more fairly, and actually support their clients after delivery.
Of course, I kept all communications with Brian. If anyone has any questions or wants more information on my experience, feel free to reach out.
