TOKYO on a Budget 2025 | Full Japan Travel Cost Breakdown
Welcome to Tokyo, Japan, one of the most popular cities in the world. Just arrived to Tokyo and we are going to see if you can do Tokyo on a budget. We’ve been traveling for the past 6 months, which means we are running low on money, so we really need to do this as budget friendly as possible. But can we do it? Well, let’s find out. [Music] First things first, we need to get breakfast. We had free coffee at our accommodation, but we are in 7-Eleven trying to find something low budget. So, breakfast and the two drinks cost us 855 Japanese yen, which was about £450. And that’s for the two of us. [Music] The train system is a little bit confusing and also the ticket of what we had to buy. But we just went through what Google Maps told us how much you shouldn’t charge. So, let’s hope we don’t get fined or anything, but we got to do it. [Music] Got this curry puff or a curry bun. Let’s try. It cost 500 yen. You can go for it. [Music] We are in shopping center. I hope I’m pronouncing this right. And it’s extremely busy. There is so many people, but it’s completely free to walk around. And obviously, if you want to buy something, there is plenty of options. Just at the end of the shopping street, you can find the Shin Gi Temple version. I hope I pronounced that right. [Music] Take a piece of paper back. I’m going to be honest. I have no idea what I just did or what I was doing as you can probably tell from the video. And I think I got best good fortune. It said best fortune. So, but I don’t really understand it. Do you? Yeah. Success. Best. [Music] We are currently just walking around Uno Park and it’s completely free to enter, but there’s things that you can do and pay for. So, they have a zoo here, I think, like a forest garden, but obviously it’s free to walk around. So, that’s what we’re doing cuz we’re on a budget. [Music] I don’t This meal has cost 660 yen and it comes with misoup vegetables and a curry rice. So, it’s really tasty. Really spicy actually. Good. [Music] [Music] It is completely free to enter the Bilman store, but you’re very unlikely to be leaving empty-handed. [Music] I’ve managed to lose Joe somehow. There he is. There are so many people. You have to literally queue to just get to one place to another. And it’s a main road. So, it’s crazy. Heat. Heat. [Music] You’re in an independent store and guess what? I lost you again. [Music] Okay, we are our way to start day two. We got our 7-Eleven breakfast and let’s get on [Music] and just walk around street I think the fish street something like that in a Haraj aquarium and it’s very very busy what we didn’t realize that it’s golden week this week which is like a 4 day celebration here in Japan and it’s quite big and some people take the whole week off That’s why it’s so busy. We didn’t realize. We were just like, there’s so many people. But that is why. [Music] Yeah, just walking around Menji Jingu Park and we are just going to go and check out the shrine. But yeah, it’s a beautiful day. It’s really nice and warm, like 20 something°. So yeah, it’s a nice change from yesterday. Feel [Music] late at night. Late night. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Late night. Late night. [Music] When we were searching what to do in Tokyo, we used a bit of help from Chad GPT. [Music] So, we used Ched GPT to help us to best kind of explore Tokyo. And it said to come to this park if you want to get away from the crowd. But I show you what it looks like. Joe’s trying a Japanese drink. Lemon drink. Alcoholic. Alcoholic. Obviously 7%. Go for it. It’s stronger than a beer. Guess where we are? Another This is a trading one. So, each one we go to has something different about it. I’m just so interesting that people still play it and like there are so many people here as well. So, it’s really cool. Nobody [Music] baby. [Music] [Music] 9% sand. That’s nice. It’s like juice 9%. And we paid £1.70 for the two, so it’s like nothing. It’s quite strong. We’re just walking around this street and it’s literally like Tokyo comes to life at night. Like it’s so crazy like the lights and everything. I think I prefer it at night than in the day. [Music] Late night. Today was a really good day. We need to first get home from this craziness. [Music] Today we got another day filled with lots of exciting things. I think I’m most excited about going to the old town and um just explore a bit more of Tokyo. Today we also going to try some ramen. And we realized we just need to up our budget a little bit um in terms of food just to kind of experience nicer real Japanese food. [Music] So we found this random place and it must be good because there is literally two birds. So is excited [Music] to order from the machine again. Just our orders. Hopefully we ordered the right thing this time. [Music] [Music] This ramen was so good. Both me and Joe just like just I don’t know. I can’t even explain it. It was so good. Joe said he’s not going to brush his teeth anymore just to keep the taste in his mouth. [Music] Just walking around old town. It’s not exactly how we imagined it. We just thought you’re going to be seeing like wooden houses and like have the old feeling, but it’s just loads of little stores and stuff. It’s still nice, but it’s just not how we imagined it. [Music] Today is back to being a beautiful day. So, we are going to go to kind of the seasidey bit of Tokyo. If we feel like there’s not much to do there, then we are going to head back to the center and we’re going to go back to the Imperial Post because when we were there it was closed. So, we want to go and check that out and I also want to go on the ferris wheel where you can like play karaoke um at night though. So, yeah, that’s the plan for the day. So, because the golden week started this week, we also not going to the imperial pass today either. We might go back into the area and just take some pictures of it from the outside. But yeah, Gorden week just started today. So, we’re not going back cuz it’s closed and probably there will be a lot of things closed cuz it’s like a big national holiday. So, yeah. [Music] [Music] came across this festival. Looks quite fun. Lots of food stalls, concerts. Yeah, lots of people. It’s really nice. [Music] We’re just walking around the area of the Tokyo Tower. There is lots of like food stores here and the weather is still pretty nice. And yeah, we’re just going to explore the area and the park around it. [Music] Just going where the beer is. [Music] The beer is very sunset. [Music] I can’t decide that this place looks like really unique and beautiful, but it’s just a bit overgrown. There’s also a temper here, but we can’t quite figure out how to get in. So, going to miss it, aren’t we? Everything is closed. I guess that helps our budget cuz we’re not spending any money. [Music] We are hoping to go on the ferris wheel somewhere behind me. That’s it. Oh, there it is. Um, basically you can see karaoke there. So, we really, really want to go on it, but we’re also going to have just one drink so we can enjoy it a bit more and be a bit more confident, which you shouldn’t need for confidence, but why not? [Music] It cost a,000 yen to get on it. Um, which is about £5 and I think this is the most expensive activity we have done. But you have to see character when you are in Japan, right? So you have to buy a ticket over here and you can buy it for anything any kind of attractions here. So they have um like big balloon and then the swingy thing and they obviously have a roller coaster and the big O which is the ferris wheel. [Music] Let me know you’re beautiful. [Music] I can see [Music] The view is pretty amazing. However, I think our microphone doesn’t work. But you still have fun. [Music] Maybe I go and I won’t. [Music] Jo is making me go on a roller coaster. The worst. No, not the worst one. The only roller coaster I’ve been on was in the Universal Studios and that’s nothing compared to this one. Why are you doing this? You know those online videos that everyone’s passing out? I’m going to be the one passing out. [Music] I don’t remember anything just happened. You had to put your phone in a locker so I couldn’t record anything. Not that I would have. I know I screamed the whole time, but I don’t remember anything from the roller coaster. Do you? Yeah. Was it fun? Did you see the skyline? I did. Yeah. Was it good? Yeah. I don’t remember anything. Also, we’ve been drinking these drinks. Basically, they are 7% so they more than like a beer in terms of percentage. And they are 161 which is like not even a pound. It’s under a pound. So for two I think we paid 250 but but this is like a big one as well. Well I think it’s like 170 for a pound. So yeah it’s really cheap but it’s really interesting. So the strawberry flavor is very really popular or I don’t know if it’s strawberry but it’s like a pink drink and we can’t find it anywhere else. We had it like once but the peach one is also really good. So cheap and cheerful, guys. So, we were just walking home and basically we just bumped into some people that were just drinking in a restaurant. I think it was a restaurant. And we ended up just drinking with this guy. He was from South Korea and he was the best guy ever. And then we ended up with these guys that were like from Japan. [Music] It’s 4:00 a.m. or half 3 now. So, yeah, we going back home. But this is how good night starts, right? Yep. Yeah. So, it’s like ice age. What’s going on? Why is it so cold? I hope you don’t know. Why? Why is it so cold? [Music] This is the end of the video. I hope you like it. So, the answer to the question, can you do Tokyo on a budget? Yes, you absolutely can. The app we used to track our travels was Travel Spend.
