The world’s largest construction built to vanish

This might be your last chance to see this ring. It’s the symbol of Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, and as the expo comes to an end, the future of the world’s largest wooden structure is uncertain.

► WHO AM I?

I am a Brazilian-American journalist living in Florida. After traveling the world working with sports, news, and events for over 15 years, I realized that what I really love is the travel part of it all. So I exchanged life in the newsrooms and stadiums for the daily challenge of being an independent content producer. I created this channel to share the beauties of the world… stuff that, for so long, I only kept to myself. Also to help people planning similar trips and to inspire more people to venture out and enjoy life!

P.S.: The funny guy who appears in the vlogs is my husband, Gordon. He is Canadian-American, and he’s actually camera-shy. That’s why he’s behind the camera most of the time 😉

  1. This could become a destination for the sharing of craftspeople and artists of dying practices. A place for exhibition and education to preserve those skills and crafts.

  2. i live in osaka\(^o^)/
    i missed you😢

By the way, this wood has not been treated with preservatives, so it is already rotting.
It was intended to be used for six months, so

Oh, and by the way, a fireworks festival is happening in Osaka on October 18th. You should check it out.

  3. Did you visit Indonesia Pavilion at Osaka Expo? Indonesia has been honored to receive the silver award recently in exhibition design, self-build pavilions in A type category (more than 1500m2) It comes in phinisi boat design with festive open air stage. Cool short video as always, Renata.

  4. They use to have way more wood construction like this all over Japan. But after world war 2, when they FAFO with America. They lost most of it.

  5. We are using engineered Lumber in America that have pushed beyond the standard limits of lumber, we have build a 25 story building in Wisconsin made out of lumber and concrete, down in Florida the Apple Miami Worldcenter is a mass timber building

  6. A massive amount of trees lost their lives to this structure, so you should keep it, especially if it build with long lasting standards to prove something

  7. Why would you build this and then want to destroy it… they may be with wood, but not at making good decisions apparently.

  8. Thid should be preserved as a monument of mans capabilities and for the respect of the forrest the sacrificed its life for it. 2 kilometers! All wood!

  9. They can use The Ring for physical therapy. Maybe their healthcare industry can get involved to save The Ring.

  10. Saying no nails while showing a nail is not the best look. Also showing a finger joint which is an incredibly weak way to Bond wood to show how great the construction is kind of defeats the purpose. I'm not knocking the construction I think you highlighted the wrong spots but your heart's in the right place

  11. It's really beautiful! Incredible craftsmanship went into that. Japan excels at building in response and alongside their unique environment, embracing impermanence.
