OSAKA: The Kuwait Sadu Crafts Association took part in the Kuwait Pavilion at 2025 Osaka Expo, offering a live demonstration of Sadu, a key element of the country’s intangible cultural heritage and a UNESCO-recognized art form. In a statement received by KUNA on Sunday, the association said the demonstration, presented by weavers Manar Ma’arifi, Sanaa Al-Adwani, Mastoura Al-Shihan and Fad’a Al-Omar, reflects the authenticity of the craft and its role in expressing Kuwaiti identity.

The presentation highlighted the stages of hand-weaving, giving visitors a unique opportunity to witness Kuwaiti women transforming wool threads into textiles that capture symbols of desert life and nomadic traditions. The association noted that the participation aims to raise global awareness of Sadu as an art form that blends aesthetic beauty with practical function, while showcasing Kuwait’s efforts to preserve traditional crafts and empower women through training, production and sustainable marketing.
