Fukushima’s Fabulous Unique Pagoda!

Here comes Katie. I love just yoloing things and then finding like this. In this episode, we find a mystery. This is a mystery. Walk up a hill and boop this noob. Boop this noob. Oh, he got rowdy on me. Doesn’t want me to poop this nude. We started day three in Fukushima and the plan was to go to a bakery, but the bakery is not accessible to us because it was on a highway and you had to pay a toll to get on the highway to get to the bakery. I know it sounds weird, but it’s at like a rest stop. So, we abandoned that and we had come over to a little town that was near where we stayed last night and there is this cute little cafe that we managed to come across. It’s got this retro vibe with like a record with wax is playing that kind of vibe. It feels a little quirky in here but kind of cool. And it’s very small little town. We’ve got a couple of things here. I got a wiener coffee first off which is like my jam and also like are you seeing this cup? It’s amazing looking. It’s a good wiener. And a sandwich. And we also got a little pancake here. I’m going to bust into the sandwich first. She said, “Be careful. It’s hot inside.” Um, these are the types of things that really common that you would see at a little cafe like this. Like a hot sandwich, a toast set, pancakes. It’s all like kind of standard fair for a classic little Heat them like this. Just qualifies it. He sets him exactly. It’s somewhere in between restaurant. I don’t know. It’s weird because like are you seeing where we’re sitting? Like this is this is strange for a restaurant back in the day. You would cook like a fish on a stick in the thing. So they just changed it into a totally different vibe. Anyway, sandwich time. Oh, dude. Got tomatoes in it. They’re so good. Hot tomatoes are pinnacle. Um, couple of little vegetables, some cheese, some ham, and but the over honestly the overwhelming flavor is hot tomato. Uh, it’s very good. It was about 500 yen or so. And I figured I’d jump into a little bit of pancake as well. This is a very fluffy style pancake. This is something we don’t usually get. It’s usually a FA thing for us, more than a breakfast thing, but there wasn’t too much on the menu, so we figured we would just go with this. Um, some butter, some whipped cream, some syrup, and some pancake. I don’t think that’s butter. Is it custard on the top? Yeah. Um I think it’s butter. Okay. Yeah, it’s melting. Yeah. Okay. Spread that. Spread that around. You did. You did put a lot on that one bite. Um don’t spread the whip. You spread the Oh my god. You’re bad at a pancake. So the pancake itself melts when you put it in your mouth. It’s not like an American pancake, which is a little thicker and like has more girth to it. When you put this in your mouth, it’s like if you drop cotton candy in water almost, not quite to that degree, but sort of like that. You know that raccoon that’s like trying to get the cotton candy and he’s like, “Oh, no.” It’s sort of like that, but in your mouth with a pancake. It’s good. This lady’s um doing good stuff up in this teeny tiny little town. We’ve come out to Inawashiroko, which is the biggest lake in all of Tohoku. And that makes it the fourth biggest lake in all of Japan. It’s a big boy. Eric really loves coming to lakes. He’s always like, “We got to go down to the water, Kitty. When are we going to a lake?” You said that like on day one and then I never took you to a lake and then I teased you on day two. We’re going to a lake and then we never went to a lake. And then this morning he woke up and he knew we’re going to a lake and I was like, “Yeah, we’re going to a lake.” And we’re at the biggest one here in Tohoku. You happy? I’m pretty happy. It’s pretty good, is it? I came down here cuz I wanted to see this double turtle action on this boat behind me. It’s really, really cute. And usually you get the big swan boats. I like that they have the big swan boat next to it because it shows you like what you normally see or you’ll see like a castle boat. They’ll have like a castle boat out in Yamanako. And that actually segus really really well to the 1,000 yen. Is it Yamanako? It’s one of the Fuji one of the Fuji Goko lakes. The lakes below Mount Fuji is on the back of the 1,00 yen note. But on the front we have Nguchian. And Nguchian is actually from this area, the biggest lake area. I tried to do it again. I got it lost in my head. Inashiro Co area. So he was born here. He helped build a world where we’re not dealing with syphilis. So give props to him. and we’re gonna play Oh, he’s not there. Give props to him. Um, we are going to play around in this area today and see what there is to see. I guess I don’t We don’t have plans from here. That’s what I’m saying. I have plans. You have plans. This is his first plan. So, we’re not geniuses. We don’t know off the top of our head that Noisian is from this area. But the man that checked us out at our hotel this morning, he’s a really sweet older guy. He went in the back to get us our change and he had to give us back 3,000 yen and some change. And he made sure to bring us one of the bills with Nagguchi son on it because he wanted to explain to us, oh, he’s from this area. And the newer thousand yen bills don’t have him on them anymore. There’s a different dude on them. So, he was specifically making sure to share the story. Yeah, he could share the story with us. It’s really cute. He was a really awesome old dude. We drove about a half an hour, a little under a half an hour from our breakfast and our turtle situation and we’ve landed in like some sort of tourist area. This is all Eric at this point. I have no idea where we are. And we’ve been blasted into this situation where you can get free parking, but this man has to give you a speech about it and like one dude spits in your face while he’s trying to tell you where to park. And it was an intense choo shael parking area interesting thing. And then you go and get ushered into an omeiyag shop, like a souvenir shop. And the lady inside wants to tell you about everything that’s not inside the shop. She wants to tell you about all the things outside the shop. And that they’re very interesting and you should go and see all of them. We’ve been inundated with friendliness. Intense friendliness. What are we doing here? I don’t know what. Let’s ride on the escalator thing. Okay. Apparently, there’s an escalator that goes up a mountain. Here we go. Did you get a ticket? Got a ticket. So, it’s like 250 yen per person to ride the escalator versus the honen. The honen kaidon. I’m good on that. And it’s so in the sun. All those stairs are in the sun. You got to put your ticket in the box. Whoa, that’s a slope. I can’t get my heels. Okay, my heels are on the ground now, but it’s a stretch. Wow. Do we have to like change or does it just slide all the way up the mountain? I think there’s two of them. The lady was telling us in the shop, “You should go up here. This is an amazing thing. Like they don’t have this anywhere else in the world or something like that.” Like you can go up here on the escalator. It’s very, very strange. What was bizarre is she wasn’t trying to sell us anything in the shop. Like she was like, “Just get out of here and go get go. You got to go see these these buildings, man. They’re like really interesting. the only ones in only ones in Japan. Like she wasn’t like trying to like sell anything. And what’s I guess that kind of makes sense cuz nobody really even like tries to sell you things when you go in shops in Japan regardless. But she was like pushing us out the door. Yeah. They don’t talk to you like this. I mean, it was great. She was awesome. I’m I’m pretty I’m highly likely to buy something like Oh yeah, we’re going to buy something from that lady. She didn’t waste my time. She was just like, “Hey, I I want you to be having a good time here, so why don’t you just get the hell out of here?” This wonderful back. Your car is here. It’s free. And then the dude was like, “We’ve had free parking for 50 years. Please buy some omiyag.” We took the escalator to stairs. You realize this? That was a travelator, by the way. That was pretty good. Yeah, it was a real vertical travelator. Add that to the modes of transportation. Yeah. for today. This little tourist village feels really alive in a way that sometimes they feel like they’re a little dead. It feels like the community is really working together. Like the free parking guys are like passing you to the omiyag guys who are passing you to the people at the shrine area who are passing you back to the different omiyag to the gelato blah blah blah. It all feels like an intertwined community that’s just working for the good of the rest of the community. There’s just something communal about this. It doesn’t feel like everything is separated and like competing, but rather everybody’s working together to make this kind of have a cool atmosphere. And it does. There’s a cool atmosphere here that’s unique to here. Even though these types of places exist basically in a zillion little like villages in Japan, this is unique in a cool way. All right. You haven’t seen this sign yet, but I’d like you to take a look at the sign and tell me if this is the embodiment of the experience that you had. You know, I did see the sign and I was just like, I don’t know what they’re talking about. This definitely I mean, wonderment was definitely part of it, but like cheering probably not. How about cheering that you weren’t this fella? And then the running. I don’t understand the running and well, a little bit of sweating. Yeah, they’re going up those heavy ass stairs. The sugai kaiden. But they really look like they’re doing it with speed. This area is called the meeting place of the army of the white tiger. Army of the white tiger or the white tiger army. I don’t know exactly. You know what I’m saying? But yeah, it’s like just, you know, keep an eye out. Sounds revolutionary. It does sound revolutionary. This is a mystery. This is not usual stuff. It is a cardboard box and it says that if you are not related to the area like an official person, please do not touch it. And there is a camera operating watching you. So, is this a test? What What is it? It’s got a handle. God, I want to know what I don’t know what’s What is this box that’s on this like stand? Like an old crappy TV stand. And there’s a mystery box that says don’t touch. What is happening? What is in this little box? There’s no information. I’m going to die not knowing what’s in this box. This is horrible. Okay, so we’re filming the video of the box. Mysteries abound. I walk away. I turn around. I see you talking to a man. What happened? A guy comes up to me in English. He goes, “Hello, where are you from?” And his English was Tatakana English, right? Which is fine, but whatever. And I was like, “America.” And he points over just like in the other direction, like, you know, look at that thing close enough. And he’s like Nazi memorial. It’s like again the way he pronounced it like with heavy katakana. I was like what? And he showed me on his phone like he had translated it before he came up to me to to say like what it was and he showed it to me. It says like on his phone like the Google translate like Nazi memorial. I was like okay that’s interesting. I didn’t expect for you know you know you’re not ready for like surprise Nazis like you know what I mean? I’m just not I’m just not like tuned into that like on the side of a mountain in like remote Japan like oh surprise Nazi stuff. So I didn’t really really know how to react but apparently a dude from Germany visited here in the 1930s and they have got some of his uh symbolisms up on the side of this hill. So now I don’t know if I want to know what’s inside of that box. So the Nazi that they speak of here, Von Dorf, he was a Nazi at the time, this 1934, 1935 situation. But in 1939 and probably prior to that, he decided that he was going to join the resistance and even embarked upon a plot to murder Hitler. That got foiled because a prior plot made it so he couldn’t get his hands on the explosives that he wanted to blow him up with. That was 1939 when they plotted that. If this guy’s dream come true, history would be a lot different. Eric just taught me that this memorial or this statue here, you stand on the head of a turtle or something like it. Did it say what kind of beast I’m on? I don’t know. Okay. And uh it eats all of your nightmares. And then you can turn this wheel and it plays a sound to soothe those in the underground. This is a very weird monument. It hurts the ears of those above ground. I love just yoloing things and then finding like this. The sequence of the day has rolled us into this pagodesque structure that you get to go up inside of. That’s a spiral. It’s a spiral. And apparently it’s the only structure in all of Japan that’s built like this. And it’s just in the We just like got lucky. The omiyag lady turned this on. It’s It’s in the book. And I did see this structure, but I wasn’t shooting for it. I just didn’t see this as something that could be done today in what we were trying to do. So, it’s a good thing that things just went yellow. As I just said to you a second ago, this is beyond cool. It’s not handicap accessible. What are you talking about? It’s got an interesting like clean wood smell. Like the wood actually still smells kind of fresh. And I think this has been here for quite some time. Bye. Bye-bye. I’m loving the sound of this structure. You can hear everybody’s feet. You can hear our feet. It sounds alive, like it’s a living creature. And we’re like just walking on its bones. Yeah, it’s amazing. The handrails are kind of necessary, dude. Like I just almost slipped trying to stand in this like good light. That was a little worrisome. When you get to the top, there’s a little hump which has you traverse to the other side. There are two stairwells that are going down. One of them brings you up. You go around two times. You end up at this platform. You switch over to the other track. And then you go down on that side. You could enter from either side and go up and down in different ways. But that’s how it works. They’re just wrapping around each other to get to the top of the building to connect. I can watch it shaking. Oh my gosh. Yeah, it is. It is just shifting back and forth like wow. it it’s got quite a wiggle up at the top. Um, and you know, I love jumping on the bridges. I love having to shake. I love being a little bit frightened. This is this is the edge of it where I’m just like I really really love it, but it’s kind of scary cuz I can imagine this just toppling over in the news of this. I hope it’s well secured. Dude, imagine all the earthquakes this thing has been through. All the storms. It’s designed probably to have that motion so it doesn’t fall over. Yeah. Yeah, that’s true. I forgot about the sway. The same way our house is built, like it moves kind of a unnerving way when there’s earthquakes, but it never falls over. Yeah, that flexibility is what gives it the flex. If it was more rigid, it would probably be more dangerous. You almost fall. The top wood is so flattened and slippery because people have walked on it. And that’s really only the only contact your feet are making. Gosh, you really got to use these handrails. I’m not joking. Everything’s smooth. It’s Katy accessible. That’s scary. This is too tall to ride. Bye-bye. Because we ended up parking at the free parking lot and walking through a bunch of shops to get to the entrance up to the hill. We didn’t get the history lesson of this sign with the main entrance. Apparently, this is a memorial and grave site of some teenage soldiers that in the 1800s were involved in a war and ended up killing themselves up on the hill. And that is why there are people up there laying um like incense to to burn and stuff like a memorial of those teenagers. And I sometimes it’s hard to tell when you’re inside of it like am I just at a normal graveyard or is this one like got some sort of special history to it? And this one definitely has a special history to it. I don’t know anything about the ocean war. But it seems like it was somewhat grim. On our first day in Fukushima, we went somewhere and we got cream box. You can actually get the spread that goes on top of it. It’s like a thick pudding type creamy vanilla adjacent thing that you can put on top of bread. We found it here almost on the other side of the prefecture kind of. We’re not close to where we were before, but they’re selling that spread. The real reason that I came over here after all that cool stuff that we just did was this guy. This is what we were coming to see over at this little train station. It’s kind of nearby where we ended up doing all the adventuring. And this is an Akabo. And in tohokuuben, the pronunciation or the linguistical stylings that they use in northern Japan, they call cows, which is normally ooshi, beckle, and aka means red. So they’ve got these red cow toys is how it’s been explained to us, that have a hundreds and hundreds of years of history. They used to be made of wood. They’re usually kind of small, not this big, and then they get covered with paper. And now they’re sort of made with like a paperier-mâché process, and you can paint them as an experience similar to what I did yesterday with the wooden doll. But I didn’t want to do another painting thing. So, I kind of was like, eh, we won’t do that. I kind of I mean, I wanted to, but I didn’t want to like make a video about another painting thing. So, anyways, I found out that you can come over here and you can see a nice big one. There’s a button here I’m excited to push and just kind of let you hang on that for a minute. Generally speaking, when you touch the snoot, when you boop the snoot, the snoop make the head bobble. Okay? And not only do they make these in red, they also make them in a whole bunch of different varieties and flavors. There’s the Sakura one, and there was one that was like a ramen one, and there’s one that’s a solatu one. And they get styled in a lot of different ways. So, it’s not just red, but it’s turned into sort of like a maybe a promotional turn promotional item for different things that are from this region. Anyways, let’s push the button. Push the button. So basically said like welcome to the town that you’re in. I don’t remember the name of the town, but it said the name of the town and he’s like, “Do you know about these like red cows?” And then it sang a little song. So anyway, yeah, Boop and the snoot is the way to go. So in other news, I ended up buying one of these kind of like a nicer one. like not not nicer than this, but like like not not the little cheap little like $1 ones. I got one that’s like kind of substantial because I want to put it on my desk and boop the snoot all the time. Just like something about it is really really rewarding. This one is really good for how big it is. I didn’t think it was actually going to move. So anyway, today’s going great. On our first day in Fukushima, we went to a gyoza restaurant, which gyoza is like super big thing in Fukushima. And we waited for 2 hours for that gyoza. Right now, you’ve put us in a line that’s going to take an hour to get a burger. Is the burger going to be worth it? We determined that gyoza is probably never worth a 2-hour wait. How long of a wait is a burger worth? Um, the problem is this sound. It’s an emergency that we figure out the answer to this question. The problem is that the hour is in this weird little awkward time where if we go and we try to find something else within an hour, then by the time we’re eating, it would have been the same time as the burger. But the gyoza is an additional hour. You could have gone and found something else and then eating within an hour. But by the time we move the car and find a place and punch in the Nav’i and fight with the Nav’i and then figure out where the place is and park the car and get out and order the food and blah blah blah blah, we may as well just waited for the burger. That’s my argument. Or we can go somewhere else and get gyoza immediately cuz that’s basically how uh GZA is going to work from now on. If you’re not giving it to me immediately, I don’t know if I’m going to be eating it. You want to go spoil our appetite with what? Yeah. Okay. tonight. So, so this is kind of funny because this is actually the second pancake situation that we’ve been in today. Yeah, that’s true. Probably the third cuz this is two Oh, yeah. Yeah. Two pancakes. Yeah. Dorayyaki is two pancakes and usually there’s filling in the middle. And in this case, it is a nama cream. So, like a fresh cream that’s in the middle and asparagus and asparagus. I want to present that I don’t think that the cream has the flavor. I think that that additional item and usually that would be like sweet beans down there. I am so excited this doesn’t have anything to do with sweet beans cuz usually it does which is fine but the fact that I’ve never This is not normal. Asparagus is not usual. Sweet beans is why I hardly ever eat toyaki. God, it smells so good. The cream is the overwhelming flavor. Do you even detect the asparagus? It’s like I guess it’s in there a little bit. Um, it’s very good. The texture and everything of the whole thing is good, but I don’t know. It’s not like screaming to me. And you, we definitely paid like 30 more yen for that for the limited edition. I kind of need to eat like just a standard one and then also an asparagus one back to back to see if I can taste like a dramatic difference. But it isn’t an substantial flavor. Asparagus isn’t like a strong flavor. Like I like asparagus, but it’s fighting with all this sugar. And I just don’t see a way for that to be a flavor that’s going to overcome that battle. Yeah. But I definitely feel like having come over here spoiling our appetite comes with other benefits such as being able to sit down not in the sun. It’s a little warm in here, but not too bad. Lady gave us some hot tea, so I feel like we can sit for a minute. It’s not really going to bother her. Really hot tea. Like boiling hot tea. It’s really funny. But yeah, it’s like super hot outside today. It’s the hottest day of our trip. Yeah, it’s like really the the other days we were leaving early in the morning and it was kind of nice outside. We walked outside this morning still pretty early and it was just boiling. Yeah, summers in Japan are a bummer. Yeah. Moments after we finished our appetite spoiling, the burger phone rang and the guy was like, “We had a cancellation. Come over and burger.” So, now we’re heading back to the burger shop with a little sweets in our tummy. It’ll be fine. We’ll just put a burger on top of it. Doesn’t matter. All right, guys. It’s burger time. I’ve gotten into burgers quite a bit recently because Japan does killer burgers. When you go and find like a gourmet burger spot, problem is in Tokyo, they’re really expensive where you can spend for like a large burger, you can spend 25,000. This burger is 1,400 yen, which is still a little bit expensive, but seems kind of fair for where we’re at. And what I’ve got here on the plate, this is a Sazai do burger. Sai do is the spiral tower that we hiked this morning. Hike we climbed up inside of this morning. And they’ve just named this burger after the tower. I didn’t even really look what was on it. I just went by the name. I was like, “Oh, it’s like a local thing. I’m going to get I know it has a bunch of cheese on it and looks like some sauce and some burger patties. Too many burger patties maybe. I don’t know. I will go to say that I’ve said this many times. Big burger should be wide, not tall because my face is wide, not tall. It’s just easier to eat. You know what I’m saying? Like this than it is. So anyways, I’m just going to just going to try. I don’t I don’t know how to get this in my mouth. Um, of other note, they have made the buns here kind of a red tint, and that is a throwback to the red cow situation that we’ve got going on in this area. Um, I didn’t have the heart to ask if the burger meat was made with the the red cow or not. Felt like that might have been seen as a taboo situation. Um, looks like a tartar sauce and kind of everything else that you could think of is in here. I I really don’t even know what to do. Oh, okay. Tarter sauce, onion. Um, a ton of burger is in there that I still didn’t get. There’s a lot of cheese. I found nose. I found some egg. We had it. We had an explosion out the top. Um, it’s very good. It’s just like ridiculous that you need to take a shower after you eat a burger. I don’t know how to do this in a way that is like efficient. I’ve got tomato and just like a gigantic mess of burger volcano. I’m going to cut it up. I’m going to eat it with a knife for like an animal or like not an animal like a like a civilized creature. This is animalistic right here. We went to a lake this morning and that was Ino Wash Co. And inside that lake, this fish existed in the recent past and now it’s on my plate. So, it’s kind of like a specialty of the area. I am not going to go the route that Eric went and get it landed in my purse. Totally going to eat it. Um I just want to try the tartar sauce and the um fish. Like white fish. Mhm. It’s a white fish. It’s like a fish stick. The best fish you ever own. That was really cheap, too. It’s like 600 yen. This is 650 yen. That’s crazy cheap for a burger. And I realize I’m getting a fish burger at a burger joint. I think I’ve won this one. I’ve been like craving tartar sauce cuz we’ve been talking about it for days for some reason. Like the first time we encountered chicken nan bon, which has a tartar sauce on it, and now I’m getting my heaven. And I will also be using the knife and fork, which they did not equip us with. This is very, very good ingredients, but I don’t know if it counts as a burger once you have to cut it up to get it in your face. I’m watching another guy eat one of these tall things, though, and he’s kind of he’s kind of going in from the top and just going downward, like burrowing through the top of it, and it seems to be working. He doesn’t have like as much crap all over his face. However, this has been pretty fun because I keep finding things that I didn’t expect to find. And the main thing that has been exciting is there’s renon in this, which is like lotus root, and that’s always a treat to find. It doesn’t have a lot of flavor, but it’s got a really fun crunch that still stays crunchy even with the wetness of all the sauce and everything else that’s going on around it. So, even as you’re digging through a bit of sogg, you’re getting to have a little bit of fun texture. The buns are a specific standout as well here. Uh, the texture is good. It’s like a good bread that they’ve used. I don’t know if they’re making that in house or if they’re sourcing it from some place else around here, but they’ve done a good job with the box. Again, I feel like they’ve really done a good job with all of the ingredients, but the experience is just it’s just difficult. That’s all. It’s difficult. It’s kind of frustrating to be honest. We’re driving our way back eastward cuz we’re going to drop off the car in a couple of hours. And on the way over this mountain pass that goes back over the big lake that we were at this morning. You have a view of the mountains that surround us. And in the distance there are some mountains that appear to have snow on them which is I’m having a hard time comprehending this. It’s July in Japan. The humidity level is like 95 right now and I don’t know it feels like it’s probably 35 at least where I’m standing. So to think that some place that I can see has still got snow on it is hard to believe. It’s making me wonder, is it something else that looks like snow? Like is it some sort of like weird sulfur or something? But I can’t think of anything it would be. It’s got to be snow. I don’t know if it’s still in Fukushima, though. It’s quite far. Like part of me was like, maybe we should drive over there and see. We don’t really have time, but I was like, maybe we should just abandon the whole day and drive until we can make a snowball. But I don’t think it’s worth the trouble. I think it’s better to just leave it to be a mystery. It’s 5 10 minutes. It’s about 5 10 minutes. I think I can see the end. So, is this actually the top or is this just the top that Ben dips down and goes farther to the top? This is our end. This is our end. What do you mean by that exactly? This is where we’re seeing what’s over there. Oh, there you go. You can head over to that one. We’ve been talking about how it’s a three-day weekend. And you’re probably like, “Oh, it’s a three-day weekend. What’s the holiday? It is marine day or sea day.” So, that’s kind of why we hit the uh my brain just goes co. We hit the co this morning. We hit the lake this morning. And we are continuing to look at the lake, but we’ve come up and above as easily as possible. We took Takai on the last few hours that we have with our rental car up a windy windy road. And then we’ve gone maybe like a fivem minute hike up some gravel. Is this gravel? I don’t know what you call these big chunks of rock. It’s bigger than gravel. Up the bigger than gravel path. And it was only like a 5minute hike. turned out to be like 5 minutes that were relatively easy with such a super reward. It is amazingly beautiful up here. We can see the lake over here. We can see Mount Bondi over there. And when you turn around all the way, I don’t even know what city we’re looking at, but it’s just immensely beautiful. I can’t believe we get to see all this and we only worked for it for less than 5 minutes. I think it’s Kyama. Akoryama could be. Yeah, that’s where we’re heading to drop off Teai today. This is probably one of my least favorite looking parfets ever. I fruit parfait does not excite me at all. What a lovely introduction to this peach parfait. Are you going to put in the thing where I was like, “This is the worst. you going to have that in there? Cuz if you are, I’m just going to explain. So, Fukushima is known for its peaches, and it is peach season. So, we can’t leave this area without having peaches and enjoying it when it’s at its peak. And I have to say that fruit parfets are not what I go for. I like an ice cream and chocolate parfait. I I need that kind of decadence. To me, this just looks like Eric’s stuffs. This looks amazing. I know. He’s He’s like probably freaking out over there. It’s got amazing fruit on top. It’s got jelly inside. And I’m sure that he thinks that looks amazing. And I’m like, “That looks like garbage. That’s just wasted space in this parfait.” But I know it’s going to be delicious and wonderful and I’m going to eat my words of how terrible or I don’t think I know it’s not going to be terrible. It’s just not going to hit that sweet spot that I’m looking to hit. This is scary. Little tart. Is it sophisticated? It’s definitely sophisticated. Wow. It’s really in season like And it’s warm. Oh, really? Yeah. Well, not like hot. Like, it’s not cold. It didn’t come from a freezer. Like, these are fresh fruit that they’re like having out at room temperature. It’s not cold stuff. You should probably get in on this before I eat all of it. Just a little update. This thing’s amazing. I love it. The peaches are incredible. There’s really not that much else going on, but the peach flavor is quite sophisticated. There’s a lot of like sweetness and tartness, and the textures are perfect. They have plked out some sort of extraordinary beach, which isn’t that that much of a surprise because Japan when they do fruit, like they don’t mess around. Their fruit here is incredible. But you do pay a premium cuz this thing was while not ridiculously expensive. It was 1,500 yen, which is kind of expensive for like two peaches and like a bunch of ice cream. Like may maybe it’s a little too expensive. Like you can’t that’s not daily peaches, but for now and then Oh my god. All right. One time I can have a 1,500 yen, two peaches situation when they are this sophisticated. Can you actually see the rainbow? Yeah. So, on that like sweet note, we had some peaches and then a rainstorm seems to be descending upon us right now, but showing us a beautiful rainbow as we depart Fukushima in a very complicated way. Uh hopping on the Shinkansen. We expected to take the bus back, but uh now we’re getting last minute Shinkansen. 3-day weekend standing room only tickets back to the city. Fukushima, what do you got? Dragon flies. Yeah. And um the cave. Yeah. Just recapping now. Yo, no. I No, I’m just thinking like why do you think my I wanted to say my thoughts so I asked you yours so I could then Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, better than expected is my answer for sure. I thought it was awesome. I had a really good time. I thought there was a lot of really cool stuff and I really liked how there’s like mountain ranges with wide valleys in between them where there’s farming and then another mountain range and like wide valleys and it’s very dynamic in that sense. And the thing I’m most happy about is when I think of the word Fukushima now, I don’t think of the disaster. That’s something that happened here for sure and it shouldn’t be forgotten. But that’s not the only thing in my head. It was here before and it’s going to be here after. That was just a moment in time and say just a moment because it was a time that definitely they had to live through. But yeah, it is a very cool place and I would definitely come back. We already have a list of things to do when we come back like more caving and uh there was another thing that I can’t remember. Drive and find that snow on that mountain. Drive and find the snow on the mountain. And we also want to go to another lake. Yeah. Yeah, lots more to do in Fukushima. I’m just happy that I don’t feel like I have this like doomsday word in my head just for this entire prefixure cuz it’s so much more than that. And yeah, I don’t know. I just thought it was awesome. We came here on a total whim when whims work out like this. Like this morning the whole thing was a whim and we found that cool thing that we got to go up and I love whims, dude. We got to yolo more often as we yolo our way back onto this train. with everyone that’s yoling right now. And that is the final video from our adventure to Fukushima. The postcard club is the best part. And the postcard club where Katie gets to write your name on a postcard, mail it your way all the way to the other side of the planet. You know how many postcards I have handwritten in this situation? Dude, it’s been like a long time. It’s been like 10 plus years. A lot. Just just just like throw a number on it. Throw Yeah. Do you know? Yeah, I keep track of it. I have a spreadsheet. Um, I I don’t really I don’t I I’m over 6,500. Over 6,500. I was really hoping it was closer to 10,000, but you know. Have you memorized addresses? No. No. No. No. It just goes in and straight out your brain even though you’ve written them like many many many times. I I I remember like interesting names. Um, Kinmuk. No, no, you can’t say people’s names. What are you doing? It’s the name of a place. Kimmuk cottage or something like that. Okay. We weird weird names stick out, but yeah, as you can tell, I don’t remember it. Yeah, addresses are hard. I don’t even remember mine sometime. I had to tell the lady the other day cuz I lost my wallet. I was like, Tokyo Toe Aachi. I won’t go any further than that. Not going to dox myself. Yeah, man. I can’t remember phone numbers and nothing anymore. Yeah. Anyways, but head on over to Patreon. Wow, that was a really great end card. All right. Thanks, everyone. the snoot. Oh, he got rowdy on me. Doesn’t want me to poop the snoot. Yeah, we should have got one this big. We don’t need a dinner table anymore. We’ll eat on the back. All the food falling off on the floor. We just boop the snoot. Everything’s fine. I’m going to crack down. Can you come down and just shoot straight like straight on with me? Nice panties. Ch. This might have been one of the most easy and rewarding climbs. You can paint them as an experience. Guy is singing a song. Did he never stop? I think they’re trying to make noise in the video. Ah, that was thick. How many butts do you have? Two. Makes cookies. There is poop. We’re driving our way back eastward. Westward. Eastward. What’s soft gelato? Is that like a different kind of Cuz you got ice cream, you got soft cream, you got gelato. What is soft gelato? Is it different? It looks different. I have started just repeating everything you say. You said it couldn’t be done. It’s a miracle we got a seat. One day we can be damned. We are seated on the sheet cos about to blow past this joy. Speaking of blowing past, you already see this end card is dark. You hear me?

Our last day road-tripping around Fukushima landed us at some unexpected gems, top of the pile being Aizu Sazaedo Temple.
