Few film franchises have left a mark on car culture quite like Fast & Furious. Across its many sequels, it introduced icons like the Toyota Supra A80, Nissan Skyline GT-R, and classic Dodge Charger to a new generation of enthusiasts. Yet one of the most memorable cars came from The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift – the Mazda RX-7 VeilSide driven by Han. That widebody rotary coupe became a pop-culture symbol of Japanese tuning. For fans who’ve always wanted one, there’s now a rare opportunity to own a faithful replica.
This isn’t the exact RX-7 that appeared in the 2006 film, but rather a carefully constructed homage. The car heading to the Mecum auction this November is a 1993 Mazda RX-7 Custom, built using a genuine VeilSide Fortune body kit, with the same aggressive design as the screen-used car. It’s an original left-hand-drive North American model, but nearly every surface has been reimagined with performance upgrades and modern touches.

Almost A Perfect Movie Car Replica
On the outside, the RX-7 mirrors actor Sung Kang’s on-screen ride almost perfectly. The Orange and Black paintwork on the widebody VeilSide Fortune kit stands out, closely matching the film car’s dramatic two-tone scheme, while a set of BC Forged three-piece wheels completes the stance. Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires wrap the custom rims, and behind them are cross-drilled rotors, powder-coated calipers, and stainless-steel brake lines. Fortune Auto coilovers and a full brake overhaul give it the ride and stopping power to match its looks.
Inside, the car blends retro and modern elements with restraint. The stock unit has been replaced by a Mazda Nardi steering wheel, complemented by a Haltech iC-7 digital dash display. The rest of the cabin sticks to a black theme, which aligns with the original movie car. Modern niceties include a new Bluetooth-equipped head unit, upgraded speakers, and a backup camera.

Turbocharged Twin-Rotor REW Engine Under The Hood
Power comes from a professionally rebuilt 1.3-liter 13B REW twin-rotor engine, street-ported and fitted with a single BorgWarner EFR 8374 turbo. Other upgrades include a Turblown intake manifold and fuel rail, a Walbro 450 fuel pump, and a Haltech 1500 ECU with custom wiring and safety sensors. A Greddy V-mount intercooler setup handles cooling, while the exhaust has been updated to a MagnaFlow resonated midpipe and Revel Medallion system. Even the air-conditioning system has been overhauled, using RX-8 components and R134a refrigerant.
There’s no listed price for this RX-7, but it will almost certainly sell for a fraction of what the original movie car commanded – £911,000, or roughly $1.15 million at current exchange rates. That genuine Tokyo Drift RX-7 was one of only two surviving screen-used cars. For everyone else, this replica offers a convincing alternative with real performance credentials and a show-ready finish. The car will cross the block at Mecum’s Las Vegas 2025 auction on Saturday, November 15.
